Persaud is an interracial billionaire romance. Keva and Ryan have been hurt in the past and want to protect themselves from experiencing heartbreak a second time. Keva's fiance died, and she has not been able to move on while Ryan keeps looking for love from the wrong women-they just use him. He is a multi-billion dollar company CEO, and Keva owns a coffee shop and has a big dream. Keva is smart, business savvy, quick, sassy, and knows who she is and what she likes. Ryan is a total mess. He has daddy issues, has a complicated relationship with his mother Grrrrr(the woman just won't leave him to live his life), has a friend that stabs him in the back and has an ex-girlfriend that is found murdered.
Oh yeah, and Ryan decides to lie about who he is, and Keva despises lying. So when she stumbles upon his lies, she crushes him like the bug he is.
Overall Opinion: This is the first book I've read by this author. It had good characters and plotline, and I love the ending. I enjoyed this book. The book has a lot going for it. I am interested in reading book 2 because it ends on a cliffhanger, and I need to know who the murderer is. However, I wish there were better details to the story, more drama and angst. Also, there was no build-up to one or two sex scenes, and I did not enjoy the implied sex scenes.
This is a biased review, but I put my all into this love story. I enjoyed writing it and creating a world for Keva and Ryan. Hence, I hope that you’ll enjoy what transpired inside of my head.
Trigger Warning: It includes a cliffhanger and a discussion about suicide.
