When women are murdered during Mardi Gras for the third year in a row New Orleans Police Lieutenant Beau Braxton calls in the women of SKIRT. The FBI’s Serial Killers Investigative Resolution Team consisted of five beautiful FBI agents and was directed by Special Agents Java Jarvis and her wife Kat Lace. Working undercover the team had a one hundred percent success rate and was only pressed into action when others failed, and local authorities requested their assistance. Java and Kat discover that murder is one of the nicer things perpetrated by a well organized group participating in human trafficking, porn, snuff films and abduction by request. When wealthy Avery Ricard a beautiful plantation owner sets her sights on Kat, Java pulls out all the stops to keep her wife and to keep NOLA citizens safe. Join Java, Kat, their dog Ares and the entire SKIRT team as they love, laugh and hunt down the bad guys.
With a degree in accounting, I set out to conquer my quiet little corner of the world. My plan was to work for a major accounting firm and live a comfortable life. One never knows where fate will lead. I soon discovered I liked taking chances and started acquiring small parcels of land to resale. Within a year, I found myself immersed in the fun of land brokering. My native state, Texas, is a wide-open community of wonderful people and vast amounts of land. Opportunities in Texas are limitless. Texas and the fact that I am a workaholic were the perfect recipe for success. I have visited every state in the U.S. and lived in some, but Texas is always the one that calls me home. I thought I had the world by the tail; a nice little ranch that bordered a Texas lake, a horse and a few head of cattle. Life was good. Then I met a woman and life was no longer good, it was amazing. Now my life is an adventure of love and laughter. My partner encouraged me to begin writing. I published my first book in 2014 and have been successful in the Mystery/Suspense genre. Too Strong to Die is my first gay book. I am proud to say that after one week, on 2/1/2017, it is the #1 (Paid) Lesbian book on Amazon. Thank you so much for making it happen. Please let me hear from you. Should I continue writing for our community or stick with my Mystery/Suspense books?
Normally, when I don’t like a book, I refrain from writing a negative review, but this one pushed just too many buttons.
So here it is: 1) On page 76 I have not only sussed out the plot but I also know who the villains are, but that is not the worst. At the age of sixty eight I have seen a lot and I have understood, that the terrible beast that a human can become, has no limit to it’s cruelty and perversion! But I read for my enjoyment, not to have the unlimited extent of human perversion “rubbed” in my face. The extent, to which the authors fantasy goes here, is just too many steps over any acceptable boundary.
2) Had I wanted to read a story about a group of unnaturally gorgeous female superheroes fighting some extremely perverted super-villains, I would have bought a comic of an appropriate genre, not a book, the blurb of which tries to sell a crime story.
Yes, I will not continue reading this. I still claim the right to judge its quality. I read the introduction of George Sand to her “La Mare du Diable”. There she explains, what in her opinion is what a writer, just like any other artist, should do: keep alive the good things life can entail for the reader, not wallow in the nightmare, that sometimes happens all around us. I wholeheartedly agree with her. Only now, 180 years later, evidently the nightmares are sold as entertainment? I deeply regret actually having bought this as a paper copy. It will definitely end up in my log-burner to start the next fire!
As a matter of courtesy I will not put this review on Amazon.
I love mystery thrillers and this book does not disappoint. Java, Kat and the rest of the team mix action, funny banter, great crime solving skills and love into a great story. I really hope there will be another Java Jarvis thriller soon. Love Java and Kat together.
Lots of action, romance, intrigue, suspense and maybe some education for those that aren’t aware of what happens in our backyard. I hope there are more books in this series. I discovered Erin Wade not too long ago but have now added most of her work to my library.
Good read and a fast paced story. Two very in sane story lines that just keep jumping all over the place. Great characters through out the story. Looking to bread more Java Jarvis
A twisted group of villains are carrying out horrible crimes in The Big Easy. Java, Kat and the SKIRT team are embroiled in every aspect of the multiple killings. A story of corruption and depravity with strong women fighting for justice.
Once I started this book it kept my interest from beginning to the end. The characters are very interesting and likable. The mystery was really tense and very good. Great book with strong women . Book three please. Thanks for another winner.
