Samirah has the chance to restore her family's name. Going to war would show her father that her brothers weren't the only ones capable. Problem with that? Only male heirs can compete in the competition. But winning could fix everything. How could she focus when Ava, her campaign manager, enticed her to find love? There was too much at stake. Being crowned King was the only option. Right?

Following the Internet Famous Collection, we move onto Jade Royal's story Devoted which is loosely based on The Legend of Hua Mulan or as we know it Mulan. I thought this was good timing as the new remake of Mulan also aired on Disney Plus this month. I wasn't 100% familiar myself with the story of Mulan but as I read it, it reminded me of Shakespeare's The Twelfth Night where Viola pretended to be her twin brother in order to take his place as she wanted it more. In Devoted, we read as Samirah aka Amir wants to help save her parents business after her father's new wife caused a scandal. The only way she can think of his winning the Internet King competition, the thing though is it for males only and her twin brother Liam has no interest. So Samirah talks her father into letting her go and with the help of her best friend Justine, Samirah will transform for the next nine months into Amir - a guy. Things are going well as the public love Amir but what happens when Justine hires a new PR manager to help her and the sparks and chemistry fly between Amir and Ava. This confuses Ava as she is supposed to be a lesbian and has always been attracted to females, what will happen though when she learns the truth and the competition discovers she lied on the application? Will she cause more damage to her parents’ business as well as her potential love life? Find out in Devoted by Jade Royal which was also a bit like The Apprentice series.

Devoted (Internet Famous Collection #7) creates a intriguing twist on the retelling of The Legend of Hua Mulan. I found the plot enchanting as well as entertaining. Characters were charismatic and fun to read about. Overall, a cheerful read.

Devoted by Jade Royal is a modern day take on the story of Mulan. Samirah has entered a competition to restore honour to her father and her family, the problem is, the competition is for men. Samirah goes ahead with it anyway, disguising herself as male, with the help of her best friend.

During the competition she meets Ava, can Samriah, who is now known as Amir, be herself and let Ava in while still competing in the competition? You’ll have to read it and see!

This was a nice story, a quick read and it was nice to see some LGBT romance represented, it’s not something you see a lot of so that was really refreshing.

I have to be honest, Devoted is the first FF romance that I've ever read because it's not my thing but I gave Devoted a chance which I'm glad about.  I'm all about #GIRLPOWER and Devoted is all about that #GIRLPOWER so I found myself immersed in this modern day twist to The Legend of Hua Mulan. Amir (Samirah) wants to participate in a contest that she believes she could win for her family since her brother refused it but there's the whole issue of her being female.  So, she has to change her looks up because you know, girls aren't supposed to pull this off, but Amir's best friend Justine was on board to help her change her looks up.  However, they needed someone to help with the promotional stuff which brought Ava into Amir's world.  I really don't want to go into more detail, because this was another original read in the Internet Famous Collection, and every girl really needs to read this exciting story!  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A unique look at perceptions.

Shamira is a woman out to prove that she is worthy, capable and confident enough to do what the men in her family will not. Save the family company.
With the help of her best friend, a new friend and more garnered along the way she succeeds to grab the attention of so many while hiding her one not-so-little secret. And she ends up hiding it from the most important person of all, her new love.

The story builds and grows and expands on the concept that we are more than the sum of what you perceive.
While this is a romance and has some fluffy moments, it is more than that. It is a lesson in being who you are and not apologizing for it.

This was a great FF retelling of Mulan. Amir (Samirah) new that she could do the contest and win for her family, and since her brother did not want to take on the responsibility she knew it was what needed to be done. So changing her looks and identity was not hard, and with the help of her best friend Justine, it was just a matter of finding the right person for promotional stuff. Ava was the right woman for the job in more ways than one. These two had a great connection and you couldn't help but hope that when the truth came to light, that love would win out. Love that they got their HEA!!

I really enjoyed reading this book by Jade. It was a story about love and compassion, it was 🔥🔥, and hit all the feels.
Amir was awesome. She does something her brother wouldn’t do, and sets out to help her family, but what she doesn’t know is she will be learning a lot more about herself too.
Ava is a star too. She really got to me. I enjoyed the relationship that started between them and it was getting so intense for both parties that something had to be done.
I LOVED this book Jade. It gave me all the feelings. ❤️❤️❤️

This was a different read for me. This was a take on Mulan and although I get the gist, I still haven't seen it. In this story, Samirah, in disguise, takes on the men to help her family. Throughout the contest to gain social media followers, I like that she lets herself shine through, even though she's supposed to be male. I learned that "Amir" is herself, but does not follow the stereotypes. That not only helps her find love, but also finds a way to help her family, win or lose.

Samirah wanted to prove herself worthy in business for her father. She enters an internet contest only open to males. She changed her appearance, and with the help of her best friend, Justine, entered into this world.
This retelling of the Hua Mulan story is written in a tasteful and respectful way in the support of the LGBTQ community. Although I am not much for fairytale rewrites, Jade Royal has captured a unique story.

I cannot clap or scream loud enough for how brilliant this book was. "Amir" was strong enough to attempt something ANYONE I personally know would have even considered. This book pulls at your heart strings, makes you want to be strong, confident, determined, reach for once unattainable goals. Bravo to the author, bravo. I did not think this series could get any better...I thought wrong.

I received an advance copy of this book for my HONEST review and I could not give it fast enough.

Truly Breathtaking

Even though I am a lesbian I tend to shy away from FF stories because they are to fake and hard to relate too. Jade Royal has brought so much to this story besides the FF aspect. It’s about being true to yourself and your beliefs. That you can accomplish anything if you give it your all. One of the best stories that I’ve read in a very long time.

“This was the very first FF romance I’ve ever read. I wasn’t sure if I would like it to be honest but I decided to give it a try and it ended up being a good story. A modern twist of Mulan that was intriguing and somehow different from I expected.”

An inspiring retelling of Mulan. Story of not only finding yourself but defining yourself. I feel like the world needs to read more stories like Amir and Ava's; maybe we can learn to love one another. Beautiful.

I have read male/male but I have always been looking for a good women/women. That doesn’t have sad ending or just all bad sex. This story was great,it had a real good storyline and felt real. I hope she writes more.😉

This was so amazing!!! I’m not familiar with Mulan, so I can’t compare it to that but this was an amazing read. I love Amir and Ava and even Justine. Not one thing I didn’t like about this book. I’m going to search more books from this author.

Devoted was the unique and intriguing F/F version of an old classic, the Legend of Hua Mulan. While F/F isn't typically my usual cup of tea, it was an enjoyable story that I finished in a very short time. Samirah was a very strong and determined young woman. Great addition to the series!
