Kaguya is the vice president of their prestigious academy’s student council and she's in love with, Miyuki, the president, and he with her! BUT both are well aware that in love there is always a winner... and neither wants to be the "loser!" As both are geniuses and quite proud they spend each day laying in wait for an opportunity to get the other to confess without losing face... only Chika, their secretary and Ishigami, their treasurer, seem ready to innocently mess up their careful machinations.

In a way Kaguya-sama Love Is War vol 7 was totally predictable as Miyuki goes up for another term as student council president. How else could it end?! BUT... it was quite different from what I expected! We meet some new students and get a different perspective of the perfect students, Kaguya and Miyuki...They really get a run for their money. I was surprising NOT disappointed in a single moment of this story arc. AND there is a lot of build up to these chapters and I really enjoyed seeing this side of our couple... free of the burdens of the student council.

I LOVE seeing Kaguya sooooo vulnerable... and different sides of her personality come out when she feels this way and it makes for some great moments to giggle over! She is so genuinely a rich and powerful person's daughter who is used to getting her way. Miyuki is actually quite refreshing as he is from a poor family and its his abilities that gives him his position at the school. So he can be a bit unaware of when Kaguya is freaking out. This time our new character is refreshingly earnest! She totally weakens Miyuki's heart and that was fun to see... hahaha what would Kaguya have done if he bungled the election?!

The tension actually wasn't impacted by knowing the sure end to Kaguya-sama Love Is War vol 7... which quite surprised me because he introduced a surprise element in this new character that showed she really is worthy of being on the student council. And as the relationship between Kaguya and Miyuki is revealed to the other as important, that "will they or won't they" tension is rising. I also loved the tension that Chika and Ishigami felt at the end of the election! We need to see more and more of Ishigami.

Kaguya-sama Love Is War vol 7 is no different from the other volumes in that the art really shows off emotion so well... I love the extreme facial reactions that reflect a stoic Japanese person's internal emotion! It really is one of the neatest aspects of the art. I also find the paper versions SO FREAKIN GORGEOUS! Really check them out in the bookstore... the covers are so dynamic... perfect for a bookshelf and instagram photos!! I no longer wonder why this manga is so popular in the Seinen genre...

Kaguya-sama Love Is War vol 7 takes us through the student council president election process and does so in a surprising way... if Kaguya and Miyuki get any cuter with their "will they won't they" back and forth posturing we are all going to die from either the tension of the laughs!! This is a fun romantic comedy manga that keeps you coming back for more...

Another chapter-wise breakdown and review for this volume because now I will be doing that for all Kaguya-Sama mangas. Here goes.....

Chapter 61: Kaguya Wants a Confession - Yeah, you and me both, sister! *sigh* Unfortunately, this slow burn of a manga won't let us have said confession that easily, or any time soon.
The Chaotic Election Arc continues and now that Kaguya has asked Miyuki to be the President again (because calling him anything but that is just tooo hard on the poor girl's heart and nerves) he will do anything to win. Again. For her. Again. Ahhh. Be still, my heart.

Chapter 62: Miyuki Shirogane Wants to Draw - Filler. *sad impatient sigh* For someone so otherwise perfect, Miyuki does try his hand at so many things that he turns out to be inexplicably undoubtedly bad at. Poor Fujiwara, although whyyy she seems to want to take it upon herself to always be Miyuki's coach, I'd never know. Wellll.... I do know. I'd have done the same. But I love Miyuki. She doesn't. So, yeah. The question remains.

Chapter 63: Miyuki Shirogane Wants to Be Popular - My, my. Miyuki was gloowwwing in this one. More than usual. It was so adorable. I wonder if I'd be that popular if I suddenly got some good nights-in-a-row rest? It's a moot point because I never would and my under-eye bags are here to stay. I hope someone will like me with the dark circles the way Kaguya does Shirogane! Fat chance! *sigh*

Chapter 64: Nagisa Kashiwagi Wants to Console - I don't like chapters that focus so much on secondary characters. So, this was alright but nothing great. Kaguya remains adorable naive though and that's something I can enjoy seeing.
There was a bonus bit after this that included Ishigami and Shirogane (or was it just Ishigami?) ahm ahm watching something ahm ahm that was.... almost not quite Y/A?

Chapter 65: Miko Iino Wants to Correct - I don't like Miko. Another character that will take precious time away from Kaguya-Shirogane moments? Agh why? And this new addition is just toooo self-righteous and annoying on top of that. I'm not a fan.

Chapter 66: Kaguya Wants to Eliminate - Kaguya is trying so hard to make Shirogane the President again and it's so cute. I mean it's obvious he'll win. The competition is just too lousy. I don't know why Kaguya is trying at all but it's cute to watch so I'm not complaining.

Chapter 67: Miko Iino Can't be Laughed At - She's too sensitive. I pity her but I can't bring myself to like her. Aaaand she's giving us filler chapters that lack Miyuki-Kaguya moments. Lose, lose.

Chapter 68: I Want to Make Miko Iino Smile - Why? I personally don't feel inclined to give her so much thought. I need my Miyuki moments back.

Chapter 69: Kaguya Hasn't Been Called - Miyuki wins the election. Big shock? Nah. At least that means an end of this quite frankly, BORING, arc. That moment where Shirogane comes to see Kaguya in the school infirmary though? Precious. I read on for those rare moments. Seriously.

Chapter 70: Kaguya Wants to Strip - Ahm. This was..... unexpected? I mean I didn't know of this myth about men. And Y/A readers are supposed to know this? Interesting.

-end of volume-
P.s - the volume finale seemed not all that great?
I'll still rate it 5 stars because Kaguya-Miyuki are adorable.

Will Shirogane be re-elected as the school council president? Shinomiya is going to every length to make sure that will be the case! They really are slipping up so much in their love-rivalry now and keep showing their feelings towards each other much more!
The last chapter, what I have named the underwear chapter, actually made me laugh out loud.
I really like this series 🖤

(Contains light spoilers.)

This volume contains the student council campaign arc. The student council is open for re-election, and Kaguya has persuaded Shirogane to run for president again. All of this is mainly because Kaguya doesn't want their time together to end, and she doesn't know what excuse they would have for spending time together outside of the council. Shirogane already has a pretty good reputation and background as president, so it would take some good competition for him to lose. It's up for debate whether Miko Ino is that good of competition.
I rather liked how this plot developed and concluded. The conclusion had little doubt, really, but Miko made some good conflict. Despite her very strict views, she does have good intentions, and it's actually pretty easy to like her.
By the end of the volume, things have mostly gone back to normal, it seems. I'm excited to see what this expansion of characters adds to the series.

Book: Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, Vol. 7
Author: Aka Akasaka
Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars

I’m just going, to be honest. There were parts in this volume that I enjoyed and other parts that I did not care about. I don’t know, maybe I’m getting tired of this series. I am still enjoying getting to follow the characters around and see all of their high school drama. However, I do wish that the main focus was still on Kaguya and Miyuki. I do truly miss each chapter just focusing on a battle between the two of them.

This one focuses on the election of the Student Council President and the drama that goes along with that. We see Miyuki running for office. For once, this is not a shoo-in for him. There is another person running, a first year. Now, at this school, first years really aren’t a factor. However, this one is a threat and a huge factor to the race. We get to see Miyuki in full panic mode. It has never dawned on him that he may not win the race. I liked this part of the volume. I liked getting to see someone who has it all in danger of not having it all.

I also liked how the author gave us both sides of the election process. I will be honest, though, I did not care for Miko Ion’s point of view. She was just fine. There wasn’t anything bad with her character or anything. I just did not mesh with her. Maybe as the series goes on I will find something about her to latch onto. However, for now, she’s a character that I could do without.

I still do like getting to see all of the characters’ inner thoughts and views. This allows us to see that even those who come across as being super mature and untouchable do and can have childish thoughts. To me, this makes them all that much more relatable. For example, the underwear sequence was amusing. It allows us to see that these characters are still in high school. I mean, their inner dialogue is spot on for their age. Also, the facial expressions were nailed.

I don’t know. I just feel that these last couple of volumes have not been as enjoyable for me as the earlier ones. I still am going to keep going on.

This one was a pretty good sequel, hitting all the right notes on the comedy and the romance. First, we finally get an explanation for Miyuki's constant piercing eyes. And with Kaguya, Miyuki and Chika heading into the third year, they are campaigning for a repeat term of Miyuki. Kaguya's manipulations get another target as she tries to turn the tide in his favor, even if his main competition is only a first year girl, Ino. Ino's campaign seems to be collapsing on itself as she advocates for a stricter obedience of rules in the students, a move that is definitely not making her popular. I liked the addition of a new character to their dynamic, because it is sure to change things up a bit and also introduce new kinds of misunderstandings, as was evident in the underwear incident (omg, Kaguya, you sly fox!). Between all this, Miyuki almost comes close to asking Kaguya out(!), Kaguya vehemently denies having any feelings for him, to her minion (I mean, like really, you made the girl spy and follow him!) and even if didn't work out, the tension and the anticipation was well worth it. It is a thoroughly entertaining volume.

TLDR: Not a bad volume, but a bit less appealing than the previous ones.

Longer Review: Not much to review here. The volume is solid and the plot throughout the volume is good. The characters all have a little bit of development and the volume introduces a new character that is pretty interesting. The main issue with this volume is just that it is a little bit boring in a way. The developments between Shirogane and Kaguya seem a bit off. I don't really know how to explain it, but it just seems a bit off. The volume is not at all unenjoyable, but it does feel like a step back especially when compared to previous volumes.

Aka Akasaka makes a series that definitely feels like “must read” teen drama. I wonder if this was a Live action TV show, would I watch it? It has all of the things needed to sustain in. In this volume stories from sleep deprived eyes to portrait drawing fill the pages that seem to simply fly by as you are locked into the story. The battle of the school elections adds more characters to the book. It is unclear if these characters will ever play a bigger part, but they are a welcomed addition to future stories. I am finding this book more and more entertaining with each volume. Some are stronger than others, but all are winners.

Another excellent and hilarious installment, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Vol. 7 was so much fun! I absolutely love catching up with this series and these characters. In this volume, we got an almost confession, even though it was completely unintentional. We also got to see Shirogane as a sparkly eyed bishounen which threw some people off their game and caused an existential crisis about true love. And then we got the Student Council race (with an introduction to a new character), as well as some hilarious moments with Yu and Chika of course. This installment was a blast to read!

i love this anime to pieces so i picked up the manga series a while ago. finally got around to this one. it’s been a few years since finished the series (anime) so seeing all the characters made me feel good feelings. it blends the rivals to lovers with comedy so well! all the characters feel like their own. this one was able to balance its serious moments like with miko ino’s past and hilarious moments with the cast.

Gracias Aka-Sensei

The Student Council President election arc feels like a significant shift towards focusing on Shirogane being the coolest. nicest guy, as well as the student councin in general being a slightly disfunctional (and occasionally underhanded), but also evolving force for good. It's still funny as hell, but the character developlent's what really winning me over.

Line

As Miyuki works to get re-elected it will work to show what the student council will go through for their fellow students. Even for Ino, a character who's is Miyuki's opponent in the election. It shows the emotional connection the cast has with their fellow classmates.
