Katie Price Autobiographies #7

Katie Price: Harvey and Me

Rate this book
A personal message... I write this book not as Katie Price – just as a mum. I wanted to write it because I feel strongly that Harvey deserves to have his voice heard. It’s not just for Harvey, but for every other family out there who are in a similar situation. I want to show you’re not limited just because you have a disability. He is my son and I love him Harvey is a 6ft, 26-stone 19-year-old with the mental age of around seven years old. He has a long list of complex conditions, which you’ll learn more about in the book. But that doesn’t define him. Harvey is also very caring and kind. He’s sweet, funny and unpredictable. He’s a strong character who knows what he wants – and he won’t stop until he gets it. I have no idea who he takes after... Trauma, sadness, joy and laughter When I first found out I was pregnant with my first child, I could never have imagined the challenges that would lie ahead. Only those close to me know the true reality of what goes on behind closed doors. For the first time, I will share our life – and there’s no sugar coating. There are stories and photographs you won't have seen before. I'll tell you everything – all the highs and lows. From the magical day I first held him in my arms, to the devastating day doctors told me he was blind – and how he has proved them all wrong since. It's been some journey – there’s been trauma, sadness, joy and laughter. As Harvey now becomes an adult, like any loving mother, I have to prepare for what the future holds for both of us...

Born as Katie Infield in Brighton, East Sussex, England on May 22 1978, I changed my last name to Price when my mother Amy remarried. I have an older brother, Daniel, and a younger sister, Sophie.

Although I had many interests when I was younger, a friend suggested that I should pursue a modeling career. So I sent a few shots to an agency and was taken on. I attended loads of castings, had my fair share of negative responses then one day, in a studio next to where I was working, a model failed to turn up for a shoot. The photographer asked around if anyone would be interested in doing a topless shoot… and the rest, as they say, is history!

My topless modeling career took off in 1996 when I appeared in The Sun as part of the ‘Page 3′ pictorial. The legendary section of the tabloid features a different girl each day posing topless. I was the first topless model to grace the Page 3 for a whole week – fully dressed on a Monday, then each day revealing more and more untill Friday – full topless. The exposure boosted my career and I soon became one of the UKs most famous models, under the pseudonym ‘Jordan.’

From there on I graced many magazine front covers , not just in the UK but also across Europe. My popularity soon reached even further afield and I posed for Playboy, landing on the front cover of the September 2002 issue.

I have been through many well-publicised relationships. And my illnesses, including the removal of a tumor from one of my fingers and complications with my pregnancies and family, have been very public.

She may have done many things she regrets and has been in the press more often than not for the wrong reasons; her taste in men, her never ending surgeries and sadly, her mental health. But there's one thing that you cannot deny her and that's the love and adoration she has for her kids. I have nothing but admiration for her as a young single mother and the way she has singlehandedly raised and fought against the odds to give her eldest son Harvey the chance of a normal life.

Written from the heart, this is Katie's candid and brutally honest account of life with an autistic child, who is also on the broad spectrum for many other illnesses.

At the back of the book we hear from Harvey's grandmother, Katie's mum and their aspirations for Harvey in the future.

I for one love watching his videos to see what he's up to. And I absolutely despise those who treat him like an object, spouting their vitriol and abuse. People need to remember he's unique and there will only ever be one Harvey Price!

Kudos to @katieprice and @officialmrharveyprice for sharing their journey with us ❤️

more about how men teated her. then about Harvey.

It was more about how her. Ex husband’s teated her then. About Harvey. Sadly. Don’t buy this book. The only good part in this book was the chapter on how beautifully . Her daughter princess was talking about her bro

I have just finished reading Harvey and me and I have mixed feelings.
There is no doubt in my mind that Harvey is a very special child with very complex needs. There is also no doubt that Katie has fought very hard to get him the help and support he needs, whether that be via medical professionals or schools or colleges, and no one can criticise her for that. The vile abuse Harvey receives on social media makes me sick, it’s vile and disgusting and I support Katie 100% fighting for Harvey’s Law. The impact that will have on Harvey and everyone who has even been targeted by keyboard warriors would be significant, and far reaching.

My mixed feelings are about Katie…….

There were parts of the book that she used to continually take swipes at Dwight, Pete and to a less extent Kieran.

She switches between saying she wished Dwight was in Harvey’s life and that the door will always be open to saying she doesn’t and that Harvey “doesn’t have a Dad”
It seems like Katie and Dwight both blame each other for Dwight not being part of Harvey’s life as Dwight said in his biography (that was published in 2009) that Katie made life difficult for him to see Harvey but that he “loved him from the moment he set eyes on him”
Who knows who to believe? They can’t both be telling the truth.

Katie goes on to take another swipe at Dwight by saying she heard “he almost faced bankruptcy” and that “it’s really sad if that’s the case because he had so much money” - In my opinion that is irrelevant to the “Harvey and Me” story and also hypocritical as she is bankrupt.

In the “Father Figures” chapter she states Pete and Kieran “didn’t have any meaningful contact with Harvey once our marriage ended”

The contradictions then start rolling in because she said “Pete bonded with Harvey instantly” and “Pete was great with him, but I just felt like he was mine and I wanted to do everything for him” and “I felt guilty if I ever left him with Pete” but that once their relationship became serious he did look after Harvey (by himself) and they had an amazing relationship.

Then she states “I can’t really blame Pete or Kieran for being absent, because even Dwight doesn’t play a part in his life”

I know that the relationships are complicated but I had metaphorical whiplash reading the book because it’s clear Katie doesn’t know what she wants or thinks.

Towards the end of the book Katie’s Mum Amy takes over and writes about her relationship with Harvey. It is clear that Katie and Amy have done everything for Harvey but shockingly Amy blames Pete for Dwight not having any contact with Harvey!
Amy writes;
“Dwight and Pete never got on. Pete said he wanted to adopt Harvey and Dwight was shocked by that. I think this is one of the main reasons Dwight didn’t visit Harvey because he felt uncomfortable around Pete”
No wonder Pete is threatening legal action again on the back of the claims in the book!

Overall I think the book should have stuck more to telling Harvey’s story instead of being used as a weapon for Katie to bash Dwight and Pete with (again - as her autobiography’s have already done that)

The final chapter in the book is about what happens next for Harvey now that he is away at college, and the hopes Katie has for his future. She said she wrote the book to “give Harvey a voice” and to raise awareness about disabilities.
To some extent she did that but in true Katie Price style it has enabled her to take a swipe at her ex’s again.
Since the book went to press Katie has been arrested again for driving a vehicle without a licence and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol - she has clearly been through a lot with her Mum being terminally ill, and money and relationship troubles. I hope she gets the help she needs, because one thing that is clear from the book is that Harvey needs her.

I’ve watched Documentaries with Katie and Harvey and I honestly think she’s amazing with him. The parts of this book about him were good …. But there was also plenty of slagging exes that in no way was related to what the book was supposed to be about.

I have read all of Katie price's book, i am not a super fan, but i do admire her for the mothering. I don't read newspaper and mags and believe every word they say, as 9 times out of 10 it is wrong.

This book is About Harvey. It is Harveys story, i read alot of reviews saying this is mainly about Katie, but it had to be.
Harvey has many disabilities, so there is no way he could of wrote this book, and Katie can only tell it in her version. She doesn't know what Harvey remembers or feels 24/7, so this needs to be her pov/about her.
I liked how she got Princess and her mum/Amy to write in here too, as they also told Harverys story. Good read.

I don't particularly follow anything about Katie in the news or anything anymore, but I have always had a soft spot for Harvey, so knew I wanted to read this book.
It was very easy to read, and it was eye opening as to how many illnesses he actually has.
I could actually relate to a lot of his traits, as my little boy is being tested for autism/adhd, and it's scary how similar they are, albeit on a smaller scale as my little boy doesn't have all the other problems as well.
I feel with Katie backing Harvey's corner he will go far - good luck to him ❤️

Felt like I wrote this book myself I have three with additional needs and while not the same as Harvey the struggles are almost identical so I understand completely how Katie feels I was shocked to read that even a dr was racist towards Harvey I found that so upsetting people can think what they want about Katie but no one can argue how much she does for her son and how much he loves her the bond they have shines through every page

I loved this book about Harvey I loved the insight we got to see into his own little world and how much he can and can’t do for himself. He should be so proud of his self. Katie is a great mum towords him. The only bits I didn’t like was when Katie keep having a dig at her exes in the book and having a dig at his dad yes I agree with Katie his dad should of been in his life but his dad made the decision to walk away. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Harvey xx

Fantastic read

What amazing and inspiring book. Katie is right when she says just because your disabled doesn't mean you can't do all the things you want to do in life Harvey is just an amazing man with an amazing mum this has definitely gave Harvey a voice honestly so inspiring both should be so proud. Definitely recommend this book

I enjoyed the parts about Harvey and his experience but felt the book was a chance for Katie to make digs about Dwight, Pete and Kieran + others (Gareth gates!?) which made it trashy and also just makes me think did she really want to share Harvey’s voice or just vent 🤔

This book could've been a lot better if Katie would complain less about the men in her life.
She is an incredible mother to Harvey and wants the best for him but why the unnecessary talk about her exes?

Loved it. I enjoyed having another insight into Harvey’s life. I feel you only hear about the positives so seeing how difficult Katie’s life with Harvey has been was good.
