Romance, mystery, and suspense - a great combination!

I loved Bronx, book one of Tess Oliver's Western Smokejumpers series. So much so that I downloaded the entire series. I couldn't wait to start book two, King. I was hooked before I finished the first page!

King is a different romance than Bronx. Where Bronx was all about relationships, brotherhood, and chosen family, King is more about mystery, hidden secrets, and undying love. The story is well-written, with as many twists, suspense, and action as driving on a high mountain road that has no guardrails during a blizzard in a car with no snow tires and faulty 8 Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Tess Oliver would zap me with another plot twist, and I would discard all my theories again. Tess Oliver proved to be a great storyteller who kept me captivated to the very end!

I also enjoyed the snarky, witty interaction between characters. The dialogue was what I would expect between my friends and I. It was so believable that I could see myself sitting around a local bar with these guys! Tess Oliver's description of King and the rest of the characters was so vivid that I could have been a participant in the scene rather than a reader. At times, I even spoke out loud to the characters as though they could hear me. I scared my dogs a couple of times.

Once again, Tess Oliver entertained me with a well thought out storyline and excellent character transformations. I enjoyed the break from real life, and I am looking forward to reading Angus, book three of the series.

Ok, this took a turn I WAS NOT EXPECTING and I am so here for it! Kingston (King) is very laid back and such a jokester. We are given more insight into his childhood and about the love of his life. I absolutely love the friendship he has with Jack, Angus (so much more mellow in this one) & Koas.

Sutton and Kensie had it so rough growing up under such a tyrant of a father people didn't even know half of it. What happened to them was heartbreaking.

I'm loving this series immensely <3

PS not fire jumping took place in this instalment :(

King and Kenzie

Absolutely loved Bronx, so I knew King would be good but it's a completely different story than Bronx. King is mystery, filled with secrets, twists, humor and so much more. I always love Oliver's story and King does not disappoint. Zo much humor though out the story , I laughed so hard I was crying. I loved the banter between King, Bronx and the rest of the Smokejumpers. I am looking forward to Angus. Loved both Bronx and King, I have a feeling Angus will be better. Happy Reading!!

The second in the Western Smokejumpers series, King is so good. We meet King in book 1. He grew up in the same small town with Blaze. This story is about King, Kenzie and Sutton, twin sisters who were childhood friends with King. This story is filled with mystery and so many twists and turns I just couldn't put it down. You just didn't know what would happen next. I love Tess Oliver and can't wait to read more.

A total page turner

I got sucked into this book rather fast. I just love the suspense surrounding the story of Kingston and Kenzie. Just when you think you have the answer there is another twist. It kept me glued to the pages. Love and murder mysteries is such a great combination. This book is a great read and addition to this series.

I loved this second book of the Smokejumpers series. This is about King, best friend to Bronx. There's more to King that what we've been told from book one, there's a few twist and turns in this book and it just flowed really well. Beautiful writing as always!

like the pace

I like the pace of this book. The first one seemed too long on the issue. There was a great mystery in the book. I really enjoyed it

I really enjoyed this second book of the Smokejumpers series. This book is about King, best friend to Bronx, whom we met in the first book. While Bronx moved with his Mom and Stepdad when he was younger, King grew up in their hometown. King had a troubled childhood and his mom was missing out of his life even though she was always in the house.
The biggest star in his life was Kenzie Jensen, who was a twin to her sister Sutton. Their father was the Sheriff, whose father was the sheriff before him. When the girls were younger their mother disappeared one night. King loved Kenzie his whole teen life even after he left to become a smokejumper.
One day he sees Kenzie! Or is it Sutton? There is so many twists in this book- feelings of shock, rekindled love, anger, and a huge mystery going back before King was even born!
I gave this book 5 stars, it kept my interest from the first page to the last, and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I REALLY enjoyed Bronx, the first in the Western Smokejumpers series! So I was really looking forward to King, #2, BUT WOW! I was surprised! It was different from what I expected, BUT totally a great surprise! Shocking! And Chapter 13 had me laughing until I snorted/cried! LOL And that's an ugly laughter, but oh so cleansing! I really felt bad for King at times, confusing the past and the present and what he wanted for the future. TOTALLY LOVED THIS STORY! I can't wait for Angus! Author Tess Oliver really knows how to write a captivating story!

Wow!! I met King in Bronx story. They grew up together but Bronx moved away from Westridge before King. They had both mentioned their time there, not always great but both had memories of Kenzie and Sutton, twin sisters. For King, it went quite deep and his memories are overloaded with sadness.
And then a chance encounter opens a can of worms! Holy moly!! I was gripped! The twists, turns and the betrayal had my heart stopping!!!
What a great read!!! You need to add this to your TBR!!

This book is so full of twists and turns that it gave me whiplash-but in a good way! Anything I say would just give the ending away, and I certainly don’t want to do that! I simply couldn’t put it down once I started reading. While I always like Tess Oliver books, I have to say that this has been my favorite series of all! You need to read this!!

I received an ARC and am giving my honest opinion in exchange.

Wow!! This isn’t just a love story. It’s a murder mystery. Identical twin girls that used to switch identities. Who’s alive and who’s really dead. I just love the characters in this book. This is a must read!
