Thank you to the author Joel Cutter, Amazon and Goodreads for my giveaway win.
I'm not quite sure how I would rate or want to review this book. There were parts of it that really had my attention and there were some where I wanted to stop reading it. I guess you could say I'm a little indifferent or a lot indecisive. I actually went back and forth on a lot of things throughout. It's pretty violent, the language is rough at times but I also understand why the author wrote it the way he did. He kind of had to in order to really tell the grit of the story. I will say I've never read a "faith-based" book with the bold, offensive language found here, so that kind of threw me off, but like I said, I can also understand it was necessary to give the reader a glimpse into the reality of it all so I was kind of shocked but not too put off like some readers might be. I was disappointed in the ending. The conclusion was written to lead you to the next book in this series but, albeit a good book for some, it's not really my cup of tea. But... I do want to know how it truly ends for Pro, faith or family? Well, I know what he chose in this book but curious if what he didn't choose comes back. I sense that it will, and I may or may not ever find out. Overall, I would say if you're looking for a feel good spiritual story, I don't necessarily think this is it but then again I don't really know how it ends so it may end up being one. I don't think I have ever ended up so indecisive about a book as I have this one. Just know if you are a Christian and you read it, the language and violence is rough and you might not like it and will want to put it down but know it's there for a reason and shows you a world you might think you know but you really don't and is hard to imagine but is very real.
The pull of gang life, impossible choices and the blurring of right and wrong are themes in this e-book received from Goodreads. Perhaps life really isn't so simple.
I couldn’t put this book down! It’s the best book I’ve read in a very long time, It’s a gritty novel about gang life and the choices people have to make when they grow up on the streets. I highly recommend this book. Joel Cutter is a great new author and I can’t wait to read the rest of his books.
This is definitely a different type of read for me and in all honesty a rough read. Gritty and involving at times the overall story concluded without a true conclusion and therefore a disappointment. 3 stars.
My thanks to goodreads and the book’s giveaway sponsors for the opportunity to obtain and read a copy of this book.
