One of the most versatile writers around, Michaelbrent Collings is an internationally bestselling novelist, produced screenwriter, and multiple Bram Stoker Award finalist. While he is best known for horror (and is one of the most successful indie horror authors in the United States), he has also written bestselling thriller, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, humor, young adult, and middle grade works, and Western Romance.
In addition to being a bestselling novelist, Michaelbrent has also received critical acclaim: he is the only person who has ever been a finalist for a Bram Stoker Award, a Dragon Award, a RONE Award, and a Whitney award: and he and his work have been reviewed and/or featured on everything from Publishers Weekly to Scream Magazine to NPR. He is also a frequent guest at comic cons and on writing podcasts like Six Figure Authors, The Creative Penn, and Writing Excuses.
I admit this was a very intense read with many parts which made me shudder and cringe. The novel was written in such a way to better emphasize the reality of the overall theme. I liked that the story focused more on law enforcement trying to end the hostage situation instead of only on Teacher's "lessons." The author's note at the end of the book really helped me understand the true scope of the novel. This book is not for the faint of heart.
This is a different kind of horror story by Michaelbrent Collings, but just as sinister and vile, inspired by man’s evil ways. And the most harrowing part of it all? The heart-breaking author’s note at the end of the book. His words are now etched into my mind. I received a preview copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing.
This book was mind-blowing. This book gave me food for thought. Why would a school be attacked? Why would some be killed and others held hostage? The killer is absolutely ruthless. However, there is a purpose. The ending is unexpectedly shocking. Michaelbrent Collings never fails to have me on the edge of my seat with his riveting books. A must read.
What a horrifying book! It took a story from what you read in the pages of a newspaper and added more hate and terrifying evil. The book moved along at a fast pace. I enjoyed it a lot!
I received a digital ARC for the book. This is my honest opinion.
Intense, horrifying and terrifying! Unfortunately, the basis of this horror novel is all too real which makes it so much worse. The world building and characters are almost too realistic! Please note that this book contains extreme violence and may be a trigger for some readers. I do recommend it.
