She’s got a long list of enemies… and I’m at the top.
Penelope Driscoll takes life too seriously.
When I asked her to dance, she told me to f*ck off.
With a job as dangerous as mine, sometimes you need to have a little fun.
Hot, reckless fun.
But when a tragic twist of fate throws Penelope to the wolves, she has no choice but to call me in to watch her back or risk losing everything she’s ever worked for.
I’ll put my life on the line to keep her safe, and if my hands get bloody in the process? Even better.
I know she doesn’t want me, but I want her.
Every curvy inch. Every sinful smile. Every buried secret.
By the time I’m done hunting down her enemies and saving her legacy from falling to ruin, she’ll be mine.
And if she resists? Well…
Game on.
Hostile is a steamy enemies to lovers bodyguard romance with an obsessed hero. It’s book three in the Hollywood Guardians series.
WARNING: This is a DARK romance which means it has themes which some readers might find triggering.
It’s great to meet you! I’m a socially-awkward introvert who loves love stories. I’m not awesome at singing or keeping my house clean, but I somehow find the time to obsessively read romance novels. I consider it one of my many talents.
In my opinion, you can never have too many books (or french fries…), messy buns are a girl’s best friend, and I’d probably die without my laptop. If I wasn’t over-committing myself to future stories or procrastinating to meet my deadlines, I’m not quite sure what I’d do with myself.
Be sure to find all sorts of sneak peeks and my more than likely cuss-word filled rantings over on the blog. Oh, and if you’re a fan of getting in the mood to read and connecting to the characters that way, check out the playlists that accompany each story in the “Playlists” tab.
DNF at 50%… yeah my new New Year’s resolution is to DNF books that I have no desire in continuing. Other times I would push and push and push myself to finish my books even if I didn’t like it but honestly that has a stop.
if you know me then you know that once I like one book from an author I will go to the entire backlog of books they have written and try to read their other works. Sometimes I end up finding a new author that I love so dearly and I enjoy every single one of their books. But other times I do not like the authors backlog of their other books and only like a few of their books. and the latter is the case with Heather Ashley’s books. I am literally salivating at the mouth for her next new releases of her dark hockey romance book so of course as I’m waiting for her other books I wanted to try to read this one but I wish I had never started.
not to say this book was bad but it’s just so not properly paced. it felt like 1 million things were being thrown at the readers and I didn’t like that once the book started the hero and heroine already knew each other. I like it so much better when there’s a scene where the hero in the heroine meet for the first time and have the first impression of each other I hate when the book just jumps right into their friendship or relationship or stuff like that. So yeah I didn’t like this book. I also did not like how just flirty and icky the hero was. i tend to like my heroes more hard and masculine and tough not the the H in this book where he was very much giving flirty, soft vibes. don’t get me wrong I do love a good flirty soft H once in a while but since this was a bodyguard romance I was totally expecting something different. when I think of the word bodyguard I am expecting a big burly grumpy man but what I got was the complete opposite and maybe that’s why I could not finish this book☹️
safety (so far): no omd/owd, no virgins, child death
Hostile is book three of the series and they just keep getting better and better! This is Indy and Penelope's story. We were introduced to them in Chased and I couldn't wait to read their story as their chemistry was undeniable even then. Sparks flew throughout this whole book as these two clashed and I loved every minute of it! I enjoyed getting to know both characters and what made them tick. There was plenty of heat and spice and a really fun plot that kept me turning those pages as fast as I could! Highly recommend and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Again, I must be in the minority here, but I didn’t like this book, or maybe I just didn’t like the characters. I liked Indy in the other two books we’ve seen him in, but I did not like him at all for the first half of this book. And I wasn’t a huge fan of Penelope either. They just weren’t the right pair for me. The only thing I really kind of liked here was the introduction of Rory, he was a cute kid who deserved good things and I’m glad he found a family with Indy and Penelope. I think my issue with these books have been that I haven’t found these male MC’s appealing. They’re supposedly alpha’s, dangerous, and not to be feared all the while having soft spots for their girls. But for me, that’s not working. I don’t find that they come across that way at all. They’re all very mopey and pitiful and obsessed with viewing their girls in a sexual way and hung up on their baggage and it makes them mean to their girls before they give in to their attractions. And all of them have been lust/love at first sight which I hate. And I know that these are usually all the markings for a typical alpha-y romance, but there’s just something not working for me with these. I’ve read the series up to date because I didn’t want to give up on it, and unless the writing was truly terrible, I do try to finish a series, with the hopes that they get better.
#hollywoodguardians series on #kindleunlimited did not disappoint! It's a super steamy and dark #bodyguardromance and there is a fourth book coming in January! It's a 5 star out of 5 with a #truecrime aspect The bodyguard agency protects women who are in danger because of their living situation or job, and so you can make those connections on what happens while being protected by a ripped alpha male or you can read the books (which is what I recommend)
3.5⭐️ It took me a while to get into this book compared to the first two. I loved Indy in Chased but I didn't like how he tried so hard to annoy Penelope when she was already going through so much.
In saying that, I did love Indys growth through the book and how he was forced to handle his issues (after stumbling).
I found it hard to relate to Penelope. I felt like she wasn't taking things seriously and was only concerned about her work but not the company. I'm glad she grew and sorted her priorities.
