Finding herself undercover, living with a group of hippy weirdos, all bent on doing disgusting things to each other … Janson finds that things just keep getting worse. There’s an endgame in play, and she must immerse herself in depravity to discover it.
Skin Deep is an extreme horror novel, full of graphic acts of brutality, sexual violence, and to be honest, it takes great delight in being so. A novel not for the squeamish, consider this a trigger warning for just about everything.
I love Ashes short stories but after read it this I'm definitely going to be needing more full novels. This had all the Ericmore blood, gore and dark humour that makes them an instant one click author for me.
This was so good. It has it all: mystery, cults, sexy stuff, more sexy stuff, stuff that's not supposed to be sexy, but accidentally is sexy, murder, really-freaking-weird-murder, do-not-try-this-at-home murder/suicide, and a climax that made the sleepless nights spent reading totally worth it. I recommend you stop what you're doing and start this. Infinity stars!!
Amazing writing as always, I was unable to stop reading, everything was so clear in my head exactly like watching a movie, very graphic that's what I liked the most. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars it's because they're some fantastic elements to the story, I'm just not a fan of fantastic.
(Edit: I keep thinking about this book even if I read it months ago, this book deserve his 5 stars.)

I don't know how 2 stars was rated before...my phone must have had goodreads open in my pocket and I accidentally selected this rating. This is definitely a 5 star read. I loved it. You will too.
This is the first story from Ash Ericmore I have read that isn’t a part of the Smalls Family series and I absolutely loved it. Part mystery/thriller, part cult, Skin Deep follows Andi Janson as she tries to uncover the truth about a string of murders in her small town. When a local teen eager goes missing and all signs point towards the boy living on the last farm in a now mostly urban environment, Andi goes undercover and finds herself in a cult where people get to play out their wildest fantasies.
The book feels like it is in two parts - The build up, and then joining the cult. The first part is definitely more of a mystery/thriller, where our protagonist finds clues and tries to unlock the truth. As the story progresses, you join Andi in going undercover at Charles’ farm, where people play out their biggest submissive and dominate sexual fantasies. This portion of the book is where the majority of the action is, especially in the last 100 pages. The warning about page 244 is there for a reason. The whole book I was wondering what could possibly happen and I was definitely not prepared for the ultimate act of being dominated. You will not see it coming!
Ericmore’s writing flows smoothly, like a gentle melody that makes it’s way into your head. Once inside it paints a vivid mural of the story, really putting you into the scenes like it’s happening in front of you. As the story gets dark, so do the colors used for the mural, going from a technicolor screen to a gritty black and white. As you fight for your life alongside Andi, that gentle melody becomes the blast beats of double kick pedals and the chugging of a seven string guitar tuned down to Drop C. Your heart will race, panic will set in, and you’ll be racing towards the finish line, turning pages as fast as you can to see how it all ends.
This was my first novel length story I've read by Ash. I've really enjoyed the novellas and short stories I've read prior. A lot of trigger warnings. I don't wanna give too much away on the story. It's very graphic and a fast read.
A slab of meat, blood splattered on the walls, police investigate. A teenage boy goes missing, a detective hired by the mother, his computer checked shows emails of him corresponding with somebody expressing his desire to eat human flesh and dominant women. A leader of a cult on a farm, a groomer, wants people to experience all their sick desires, allowing people a space. A reporter decides to go undercover and infiltrates the group expressing her sexual desire. People want to eat human flesh and people want to be eaten. At least these weird ones aren't vegans. A javelin with impale a women starting at her vag and a guy gets bashed with a 12in metal dildo before being thrusted into him. Not a good one from Ash.
This was a great read, a story of a young reporter going that extra mile for the truth. What she ends up doing is getting embroiled into the messy and alarming situation. Will she succumb to the ways of the farm or can she good on to her true self and do what she set out to do. An exciting and compelling read that draws you deep into the farms enticing ways and has you willing a young reporter to get out before it's to late. Some great characters and some shocking actions of what could actually be happening anywhere in the world to young curious minds searching for answers and help. Definitely worth checking out and certainly recommended.
Pain can be described in many ways. You can pass a life through the eye of a needle, and no one in the universe would blink. If you pass a needle through a life, then all hell breaks loose. Your answers will come once you witness the destructive nature of a needle. Watch as it passes through a human being. As you succumb to the needs of the body. After that, I can teach you to love the mind. And all of that’s power.
How far would you be willing to go to get the story of a lifetime? How deep into depravity and sickness can somebody seemingly unlock overnight? Show me the way of the body, and I promise you my mind.
Mim shook her head. “You were. You were missing something. You have it now.” “What?” Andi barked. “Hate.”
*I'm not going to give you the 'what this book is about' blurb - you can read that elsewhere.
I'll start by saying I read a lot of Ash Ericmore. I've liked pretty much everything of his, so when I tell you this is in my top 2 for Ash, that means something. *So far. Dude has like 872 books I have yet to read, so order is subject to change as I knock titles off my list 😂
HOLY HECK. Plot = amazingly unique and well planned. Characters = amazingly relatable and well-written. Gore = amazingly creative (creativity is important in gore).
This is like a weird sexy smart cult. You kinda want to be there, but also, WTF are you doing there? Which is a lot of what I was mentally screaming at Andi throughout the book - just a lot of WTFs and NO! and GIRL, BE SMARTER! However, I 100% wanted her to be doing the thing she was doing, so kudos on her for getting shit done.
Ash cracks out novellas and shorts like it's his damn job 😜 so to get a full-length novel is a treat, and I loved absolutely everything about this one!
Ugh, Ash. A news reporter attempts to get the story of a lifetime. She ends up getting far more than she bargained for. Sex cults, spits, eating of human flesh, missing folks, murder..it’s all here. If you like extreme horror, definitely check this one out.
