Meet Zoe Finch, West Midlands Police's newest Detective Inspector. She's outspoken, ambitious, and damaged. And she's working a set of cases that could make her career, or cost her everything...
This set contains Books 4-6 in the Zoe Finch series:
In Deadly Terror, Zoe must respond to a terror incident at the heart of her city. But is her new colleague involved in the attack?
In Deadly Reprisal, Zoe and her team must find a killer on Birmingham University's campus before he or she strikes again.
In Deadly Fallout Zoe must give evidence at a colleague's trial and solve the murder of a corrupt detective. Will she piece together the threads linking a senior officer to organised crime?
My name's Rachel McLean and I write stories you can't put down, with characters you'll be rooting for.
I'm best known for my Dorset Crime series, which has sold over a million copies. The first book in that series, The Corfe Castle Murders, won the 2021 Kindle Storyteller Award.
Here's what Clare Balding (the lead judge) had to say about the book:
'I particularly enjoyed the detail of the landscape and the humorous oddities of Dorset life. I enjoyed the richness of the characters, complexity of life for a working mother who is thrown into a new environment and has to prove herself, all over again.'
But The Corfe Castle Murders is by no means my only book. I've published five series and am working on two new ones, all of which connect. You'll find characters from each series in one or more of the other ones, so you (and I) get to follow them as they take on new challenges.
For example:
DCI Lesley Clarke is Zoe's boss in the DI Zoe Finch series and then moves to Dorset where she becomes the star of the Dorset Crime series. DS Mo Uddin is Zoe's best friend and sidekick, then moves to Scotland for the McBride & Tanner series. DC Tina Abbott is a key character in the Dorset Crime series and plays an important role in the new Lyme Regis Women's Swimming Club series of mysteries which stars her mum, Annie. Zaf Williams starts off in the DI Zoe Finch series then moves to London and is one of the stars of the London Cosy Mysteries series (along with his colleague Diana and Gus the cat). Dr Petra McBride appears in no fewer than three series and I'm planning a new series for her in 2026. And not to be outdone, Zoe Finch has two series in which she stars: the DI Zoe Finch series of 'Deadly' books, and the Cumbria Crime series. Once you get to know these characters, you'll find plenty of books to keep you entertained. And I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
You can read a full list of the series and books on my books page. Each series is designed to be read in order but which series you go for first is really up to you.
I’m so sad now I have just read all 6 Zoe Finch books and I loved them all. Rachel brings every character to life in my head and I feel like I’m part of the team. Finished all the books last night woke up this morning and remembered I had been sent a copy of the Zoe Finch prequel so very happy now 😀😀

Very good.

Ok so I'm not usually one for reading more than 3 books in a set but this 6 book set was AMAZZZING, you have to read these books if you like good detective murder suspence. The way this either writes keeps you intrigued the whole way through. Di finch and her team solving crimes and also trying to work out the dodgy corrupt officers also at her unit. The characters are great and you really believe the story as you read. I am defo going to read more crime books from this auther....
This is the final 3 chapters in the Zoe Finch collection (although I hope there are many more planned ?). Rachel McLean is a the top of her game. The stories are superbly written with great plots that engage you and make you work. I am looking forward to the Dorset stories, although I will miss Zoe Finch.
Well that's the second Zoe Finch box set completed. A very enjoyable read with the developing characters through the series becoming firm friends with the reader. The writing, tension and plots improve with each book in the Deadly series. Looking forward to the release of Deadly Christmas later this year.
I really enjoyed reading these books because I have read the others in numerical order not knowing how I missed these. They put the depth in the story that was missing before. I can recommend to you these books because I just couldn’t stop until I had read them all. Thank you Rachel McLean
Really enjoyed this series of books great strong characters and a few surprises in the last book hope it's not the last we've seen of Zoe. More please Rachel
3 good books well written and keep you engaged - share the editing of the book is so poor lots of typos and spelling mistakes but if you can ignore them you will enjoy!
Loved reading especially as I could relate to some areas being from the black county not that far from Brum I felt I was with Zoe and her team when reading. Can’t wait for more books.
