I was looking for a more sexier read and just remembered about this series. The Bad Boys After Dark series by Melissa Foster is very much like her other Contemporary Romance books however, they just have a lot more explicit sex in them. It was perfect for the kind of mood I was in, especially since I sadly haven’t been reading as many Erotic Romances as I would like.
Carson was a really great hero. He was kind, lovable and passionate and I also really enjoyed the heroine, Tawny, as well. However, the biggest issue for me about this book was the premise. Carson and Tawny were friends with benefits before and although they never quite made it official between them, there was still a lot of love in their relationship. However, Tawny goes off later and marries another man. Now that she has divorced him, she is seeking comfort from Carson again despite not being in touch for several years.
This is the part that kind of made the romance iffy for me. You can obviously tell that they care about each other a great deal and that the flame is still there. However, they haven’t kept in touch in years and as soon as Tawny arrives, Carson takes her into his arms and suddenly, all is right again. I found this hard to believe since he didn’t even know that she was divorced. It just made Carson kind of look like the second man or the rebound.
Another thing is that because of this, we don’t really get to see the romance build since it’s already there when the story begins. Yes, there’s a lot of steamy sex to prove it, but I found that there wasn’t any place where it could develop. So while I did enjoy the sex scenes, it didn’t feel truly organic to me since all the falling in love in the first place already happened in the past before the book actually began. So, essentially, this book is really just about rekindling that romance.

But it was hard to deal with the heroine.
She and the hero, Carson, were college besties... and something more.
She left him.
She married another man (poor Keith) when her heart still belonged to Carson. Married him, made him feel second class, had him begging to be with her again after their divorce, etc.
It's been ten years and she's looking for something from Carson.
And he just accepts her back into his life because he's such a great guy.
But I didn't like her.
I didn't trust her.
So no. I didn't care for a happy ending for her.
Carson deserved better.
And because I like this author, I won't bother rating this one.
But it was hard to deal with the heroine.

Carson by Melissa Foster was a beautifully written, steamy and heartfelt second chance romance.
The storyline was entertaining all throughout the book, it was easy to follow, the characters Carson and Tawny were likable, relatable and watching them get their second chance at love warmed my heart.
I enjoyed watching Carson and Tawny's relationship unfold. After being apart for ten years, coming face to face again feels like time has stood still, the attraction/connection is clearly still there and knowing what life is without each other neither one is willing to let the other go without exploring these feelings.
A more matured Tawny is now ready emotionally, she's done with running away from her fears and insecurities. Carson is the man who has always held her heart and now she's ready to give him all of her, heart, body and soul.
Carson is an excellent addition to the Bad Boys After Dark Series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.

Talk about a steamy, hot romance! You will definitely need something to help cool you down while reading Carson. He will leave you swooning and sweating from all the male alpha-ness coming radiating off of him!
Tawny hasn't ever been able to forget Carson Bad. For two years they shared something extra special, but she ended it and ran from Carson's life, to try and save herself the heartbreak she knew she would have... or so she thought. Now 10 years later she finds herself half way around the world, looking for the one man she should have never walked away from.
Carson Bad can't believe his eyes when they land on Tawny in the lobby of a hotel where his family just held a fundraiser. She was the girl who ruined all other women he ever tried to date. He wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to maybe rekindle something... anything... with the one woman he should have never allowed to walk away from him in the first place.

Like the most potent of perfumes or the most decadent of desserts, I'm hooked. There's something about a bad boy and Carson wears that surname like a badge of honor or a weapon of choice. His electric eyes and his dark rebel persona draw women in like a moth to a flame. The beauty of Carson is that Ms. Foster dreamed up a puzzle in need of solving. The seducer becomes the prey. Mr. Bad is about to face his toughest challenge yet. And her name is Tawny Bishop. They have a past that started with friendship and ended in seduction. Now the student has become the teacher and the lesson plans have changed. The conundrum of Carson is that he exudes complicated but he's really a simple boy at heart. Carson and Tawny blend sensitive and sensual into a brew that flows smoother than the softest silk.

This is the 2nd book in Melissa Fosters' Bad Boys After dark series that I've read and I can confirm what you're thinking. Yes, the Bad boys (Bad brothers) are sooo good. In this story, the lonely and brooding Carson Bad finds his life completely and pleasantly shaken up when Tawny "Tabs" Bishop comes back into his life.
The story starts off in the now, but through flashbacks we learn about Tawnys' and Carsons' college friendship/friends with benefits arrangement. Decisions are driven by lack of communication and fear drives Tabby away. But the past is there to show us just what they had and how much better it could be, how scorching hot their chemistry is. Tawny is motivated by her need to gain some closure and self-acceptance, but the bold move to find Carson shows just how far she's come in their years a part.
Melissa Foster delivers a wonderful second chance love story. Foster creates such an intense connection between Carson and Tawny and it's clear they are made for each other. Carson is determined not to make the same mistake(s) twice and his pursuit shows his dominate and charming side. They are faced with the very possible outcome that after only a few days they may not see each other again, but I had my doubts Carson would let her go even after only a few hours back together.
This is a relatively low drama, but scorching hot, fun to read story. As with all books by Melissa Foster her writing is impeccable and her characters come alive. 4.5 stars.

Carson and Tawny have history, but someone got scared and ran away .. that's the gist of the past. Tawny wakes up one day and decides to take the bull by the horns and go after her future .. that's the gist of the present.
I've always enjoyed Melissa's stories. No matter what the trope is, her characters are fully developed and well paired. Her story-lines unfold nicely and don't leave gaps. That being said, the resolution of the past to the present was a little to quick. A little too neat .. in my opinion that is. This is just one of those stories that while you're reading pages and pages of a journey/struggle, when it comes to the resolution/HEA it just happens ... BAM. As an avid reader I'm intelligent enough to know that not every single conversation that happens between the characters becomes part of the story you read. I get that. Some things you just have to assume, but it should never be the conflict or its resolution. So I wish I was privy to more of how they managed to get past the past. I know it happened, I just didn't get to read it. But rainbow .... it's still a ridiculously well thought out story with some serious sexy-sexy :)
I loved that the story took place in the now but flashed back to the past intermittently so we could get a full picture of their desire and connection to one another. These two were not only secret lovers, but they were the best of friends. Communication and insecurities is what did them in but also age. They were young college students. Their whole lives ahead. Speaking from experience, that time in your life can be daunting. And so they moved in separate directions. I believe their pull towards one another was always there and their chemistry was off the charts from the get-go. This is definitely one story I would categorize as sexually driven. (and that's really a very good thing lol)
Go forth and enjoy another great masterpiece by Melissa Foster. Her talent hold no bounds!

However, Tawny goes off later and marries another man. Now that she has divorced him, she is seeking comfort from Carson again despite not being in touch for several years.
This is the part that kind of made the romance iffy for me. You can obviously tell that they care about each other a great deal and that the flame is still there. However, they haven’t kept in touch in years and as soon as Tawny arrives, Carson takes her into his arms and suddenly, all is right again. I found this hard to believe since he didn’t even know that she was divorced. It just made Carson kind of look like the second man or the rebound.
Another thing is that because of this, we don’t really get to see the romance build since it’s already there when the story begins. Yes, there’s a lot of steamy sex to prove it, but I found that there wasn’t any place where it could develop. So while I did enjoy the sex scenes, it didn’t feel truly organic to me since all the falling in love in the first place already happened in the past before the book actually began. So, essentially, this book is really just about rekindling that romance.

Bad Boys After Dark: Carson is the third book in the series by Melissa Foster.
Carson was the gorgeous, quiet, off the charts intelligent, introspective and guarded Bad brother. Tawny Bishop was beautiful, geeky, uber independent and just as intelligent.
Carson ad Tawny were best friends and secret lovers in college. Tawny broke it off at graduation thinking they could never be more and ashamed of the secrecy. Ultimately Tawny got married and all ties were broken.
Fast forward a decade, Carson had never really gotten over Tawny but he never talked about her either. She showed up out of the blue, divorced and curious and Carson was determined to never let her go again.
It was a sappy sweet and sexy hot second chance novel. It became a journey of discovery, reacquainting, open communication, desire and hope.
I loved everything about Carson and Tawny. They were perfect together. Although sweet, the storyline was pretty predictable and without conflict. It was explicit and detailed - not just the sex scenes, but everything, like it was instructional and we heard every thought as a full sentence. I usually appreciate the depth, but could have used a little inference at times. As a result, it went a little slow for me.
True to form, Foster's inclusion of family, loyalty and an awesome supporting cast were front and center.
All in all, it was another well written and enjoyable story by Foster. Brett is up next as a conclusion to the Bad Boys After Dark series. He's the funny one and it's obvious he's masking something big so I can't wait to explore his story. In the meantime, I'm finally diving into Foster's newer series, Bayside Desires.

Tawny and Carson were interesting together. I definitely believed there was an attraction bewteen them in the past, and one that could be built on in the future. That said, I was not sure if they would have been able to get past the reasons they split years ago quite so easily.
I liked the idea that both of them still carried a torch for the other, that both of them were still drawn to one another, and that they were still both feeling like they had unfinished business. They definitely did. The heat and genuine affection they had for one another made the story work fairly well.
My issue, as I mentioned, was that the thing that separated them never felt fully resolved to me. She says she no longer sees it that way, and that she has changed, but there was not enough there for me to totally believe in the happily ever after. Do I think they will get there? Yes, I do...but I think there was a conversation the reader was left out of that was important to fully resolve the story. I never say this, but I think I would have liked more character and slightly less sexy time, as I think there was something lost with all of the sex being what was used to drive the story.
Don't get me wrong, the sex was hot and there was nothing wrong with it...it just felt like it was in place of a conversation or 2 that I think they needed to have to really, fully, move forward.
I do recommend this overall, while there were things that didn't totally work, I did enjoy it.

Talk about a steamy, hot romance! You will definitely need something to help cool you down while reading Carson. He will leave you swooning and sweating from all the male alpha-ness (yeah I made up the word – LOL) radiating off of him!
Tawny hasn’t ever been able to forget Carson Bad. For two years they shared something extra special, but she ended it and ran from Carson’s life, to try and save herself the heartbreak she knew she would have… or so she thought. Now 10 years later she finds herself half way around the world, looking for the one man she should have never walked away from.
Carson Bad can’t believe his eyes when they land on Tawny in the lobby of a hotel where his family just held a fundraiser. She was the girl who ruined all other women he ever tried to date. He wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to maybe rekindle something… anything… with the one woman he should have never allowed to walk away from him in the first place.
As Tawny and Carson start to reignite the friendship and passion they once shared, they both start to see what was right in front of them all along. But Tawny must make a huge decision on whether she will stay or walk away once more from the only man she’s ever truly loved.
The pages of this book could spark a fire. So full of passion and raw emotions, you get pulled in to their story and their love for each other, even after all these years.
With each book, I get more and more invested into Melissa’s characters and I love how they are all interconnected from book to book, series to series. If you haven’t given Melissa’s books a try – I highly recommend all of her books. She is an instant one-click author for me!

Carson was such a "feel good" story. No unnecessary drama, no strange or forced plot twists. It was straight to the point, sexy and just an all around great story.
For Carson and Tawny this is their second chance. A decade has passed and Tawny's on a search to find her happiness which brings her back to her old crush and best friend, Carson Bad. They pull no punches. The connection they share is just as strong as ever and no time is wasted. There is no denying of feelings. They both know what they let go and neither wants to give that up again. Instead they're going to use this chance to pick up where they left off, clear the air and start something they regret not starting all those years ago.
I loved this book and I loved the simplicity in how so much heat and emotion was delivered in Carson and Tawny's reunion and their time together. Another great story in this Bad Boys After Dark series.

Bad Boys After Dark: Carson is the third book in Bad Boys After Dark series. It is a stand-alone read and due to its sexual content is suitable for mature readers.
What The Story Is About
The focus of this story in on Carson Bad and Tawny Bishop. Carson is the third eldest of the Bad brothers. He is the owner and CEO of an International security firm. His job is to expose secrets, which is ironic since he has kept one for the last ten years. This secret haunts him and he avoids dating and long-term relationships as a result. Tawny Bishop is the one woman he has ever loved and now she is back in his life, he does not intend to let her go.
Tawny Bishop has only ever loved only one man, but a misunderstanding ten years ago led to her walking away from him. She chose a life she considered safe, but ten years later, she has not forgotten the love of her life. She needs to move forward with her life, but the only way to do that was to confront her past. However, what she never counted on was that her feelings would burn hotter than it did a decade ago.
As I am familiar with the author’s work and the series, I went into this story with high expectations. Now if I were to rate this book based on the premise, the writing, the characters and the scorching love scenes, then this would be a five-star read. Unfortunately, some issues prevented me from giving it such a high rating. It was not a bad story, but I believe it could have better executed.
I thought Carson and Tawny were great together. They cared for each other. I enjoyed their banter and the manner in which they related to each other.
I liked that the story provided me with flashbacks to their past as it provided insight into their lives while in college. It helped me to understand what led to their separation, not only as friends but as lovers too.
Now I am a firm believer in true love and its ability to endure the passage of time, so I had no doubts about Carson and Tawny’s love for each other. What I had problems with was how their relationship picked up as if nothing had happened. The pace at which their relationship rekindled it would make it seem they were separated for one week instead of ten years.
Based on their history, I expected drama and a little angst, but none of this occurred. I am still trying to figure out the purpose of featuring Tawny’s ex-husband. I don't think his character added any value to the story. In addition, I thought the issues that led to their separations were not adequately resolved. It is my belief that this time around the author’s focus was on the sexy times between the characters and the rekindling of the relationship, without giving much thought to the underlying issues.
The story highlighted the impact that lack of communication has on any relationship. This is a major problem for relationships since the dawn of time.
Conclusion/Recommendation
In spite of the issues I had, I still found the story to be an enjoyable read and one that I would recommend to readers who love steamy contemporary romance. I am looking forward to reading Brett Bad’s story as soon it is released.

Melissa continues to keep us coming back for more Bad boys.... You just can't help but want more!! After 10 years apart, Tawny has come to New York to see Carson her once best friend from college. When he sees her standing in the hotel his world stops for a moment at the sight of her, before he reminds himself she's married.... Melissa Foster’s Carson is a sensuous, emotional and oh so romantic novel which takes place over a five -night, four -day period. The timeframe piece was very important in this second chance romance as there was a finite time for Tawny and Carson to acknowledge and resolve their feelings. I loved that author chose to have the very dominant character of Carson acquiesce and let Tawny set the pace during her visit. Caron loves Tawny deeply-she is the only one for him. He understands that Tawny needs to acknowledge the depth and sincerity of her feelings for him and grieve for her father. The author’s descriptive voice is enriched by infusing the senses of smell and touch throughout the novel. Loved it when Tawny became aware of a familiar scent outside the hotel building—she didn’t sense that Carson was nearby, she recognized his scent. The sense of touch is conveyed in the couple’s passionate sexual relationship.
Carson is an engaging novel that perfectly blends the elements of friendship, desire and love. The multifaceted characters and their stories captivated me and I finished the book in one day. Melissa Foster is known for her sexy, bad boy heroes. Carson is no exception. I loved the well-defined character of Tawny and her honest desire to reconnect with her true love. And the epilogue was perfect—just perfect!

I loved the intensity, the honesty and the guilt free happiness of these two people, clearly destined to be together. Clever use of the past, of family, and of things that truly matter bring their romance, and their passion into sharp definition for the reader - and yet there is enough left to the imagination to make it tantalising until the very end. Catching up with old friends from previous books is always an important part of these books, and gave Tabs the connections that she needed and had been missing.

Catching up with old friends from previous books is always an important part of these books, and gave Tabs the connections that she needed and had been missing.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, bad boys, and heartbreak.

She only has time for hookups nothing long term for her. But she finds that this one man understand her more than she could have imagined any man doing.
These two separate people find other things they have in common. Family. Their strong bonds to their families make for a connection that provides each of them with that something more.
Melissa Foster provides us an unexpected romance with steamy, hot, sweaty passion and yes sex. Dylan and Tiffany makes for one hot scorching read.
Paul Woodson did a good job but there could have been better, more consistent feminine voices and more variance in the male voices. Sometimes not sure which characters dialogue was taking place.

I absolutely love all the Bad boys but Carson is my #1 Bad boy. He is strong and sensitive but dominates in the bedroom. What is sexier than that? Carson is a little like Christian Grey but not enough to make you hate him and think that he is wet behind the ears with the whole taking control in the bedroom. He takes sexy to a whole new level.
Carson and Tawny met in college where they became lab partners. They became friends and secretly wanted each other. They dropped hints but were not able to pick up on the hints. Carson had different girls that he slept with and Tawny thought that that was what he wanted. He would tell her that the girls meant nothing to him that they were just a hook up and no one else existed in his head but her. She thought that it was just sex talk.
While Carson and Tawny were sleeping together he displayed his dominate side which Tawny liked. She eventually became worried about who she was becoming and broke things off. She winds up meeting a guy named Keith who she says is "safe" and they eventually get married. When her dad passes away she decides to take his advice. She divorce's Keith and moves to Paris to take a job with a perfume company creating perfumes and to start over. She has not been in love with Keith and decides it is best for both if they divorce.
She comes back to see Carson and deal with her dads belongings that he left for her. They realize that the attraction and feelings are till there and they pick up where they left off. Carson helps her go through her dads things and realize her dreams. She is in town for 5days and they very quickly realize that it will be hard to part at the end of the week.

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This is the first book that I've read in this series, however, I didn't really feel that you needed to read the previous books in order to understand what was happening here.
This was a sweet second chance romance. Tawny and Carson have a past - it's full of love, friendship and sweaty sex. They met in college and were instantly friends. However, something happened and after they had become more than that, Tawny ran and Carson never really developed relationships with anyone else.
When you see the past and the present mixed in a story, it's sometimes hard to keep them separated. They were different people and I really liked how you saw glimpses through their experiences.
Questioning what you desire became what Tawny ran from. She wanted safe and predictable and when she was with Carson, she felt out of control and unsteady. From Carson's perspective, he loved what he and Tawny had, but he also knew that he had a reputation and when there was a miscommunication, he lost Tawny for a long time.
Seeing these two come back together and the love they share and chemistry was a fun read. I hope to read more of these brothers and really liked how Foster told this story.

Carson's eyes meet with hers across the room and he is shocked to see her. Can Tawny make amends and explain why she left him? Will Carson still feel the same about her? Enjoy this hot and steamy Melissa Foster romance. Once you start reading you will not be able to put it down. These characters have history and I love how their history unfolds. I would happily give it 10 stars.

After 10 years, Tawny makes her way back into his life. They realize their lives need to be together but they lead separate lives outside of their little 5 night bubble. But they know their lives together will be so much better than what they are living now!

Carson is my first Melissa Foster book but it definitely won't be my last. What I liked about the book:
I was bowled over by the crisp writing.
The detailed scenes.
The well-developed characters.
I especially loved how the author gel the back-story and the current scenes between Carson and X together. It is seamless and flows nicely.
The chemistry between these two is sexy, flirty and combustible. I just loved this book and this author, who by the way is sure to be on my tbr from now on!

Oh Carson! He might be my favorite Bad brother! And Melissa Foster is becoming one of my go-to authors!

Just like that... Carson is my next book boyfriend. Carson and Tawny have a very heated relationship. Several times while I was reading the book, I had to reread the section!!! For no other reason than to experience their connection again!
I'm absolutely jealous of Tawny. I can't hide it.. Wish I was her in a few passeges.
Melissa Foster is amazing. I don't know how she keeps coming up with such strong men and even stronger women..
Looking forward to the next indulgence.

This is the third book in Foster’s Bad Boys After Dark series and the seventh in her After Dark series. The first four After Dark books focused on the Wild brothers. The next four focus on the Bad brothers, all of whom grew up together. The Wilds and the Bads are still close friends. This is a second chance at love story between Carson Bad and Tawny Bishop.
Her After Dark series published between 2016-2018 was intended to tread the ever thinning line between contemporary romance and erotic romance. I like to refer to it as the Fifty Shades effect because it seems like after the incredible success of that series every contemporary romance author who wasn’t writing PG romances feels the need to throw in a little light bondage and maybe even a little spanking and anal into their stories. This series definitely has more sex and in this book more kink than your typical contemporary romance.. The irony here is that Carson is the quietest, most reserved of the Bad brothers. And Tawny Bishop is an introverted, brilliant woman who doesn’t socialize much and would rather stay home and watch sci-fi movies than go to a party. This is the last couple you’d expect to get kinky dirty behind closed doors.
Carson and Tawny two brilliant young students became fast friends and study partners in their freshman year of college. By their junior year they also became lovers and discovered they both had a taste for definitely not vanilla sex. While they were both in love with the other neither expressed their feelings beyond friendship even as they explored the wild side of their sexuality. Tawny mistakenly thought Carson was still seeing other girls when he wasn’t with her and Carson thought Tawny didn’t want to change the status quo in their relationship. As graduation grew near Tawny became more and more concerned about the way her thoughts of Carson and their sex life were dominating her thoughts making it difficult to focus on her studies or much of anything else. As the story opens its been ten years since she last saw Carson. Tawny has worked up the courage to find Carson to see if she can get her life, unstuck. She needs to determine whether her attraction to Carson her preoccupation with him is as real and powerful as she remembers or if time has blown it out of proportion. Why is it only Carson who brings out her most seductive, kinky sexual desires and can satisfy her? Impulsively she flies from Paris to New York City hoping to find Carson at a charity gala he and his brothers put on every year to raise money for the Ronald McDonald house in honor of their little sister Leila who died from Leukemia when she was eight years old leaving a giant hole in his family. She has no idea even whether Carson is still single or not. She just needs to see and talk to him. They meet as Carson is leaving the building. Carson thinking she’s still married and not knowing why she left him to begin with is cautious at first, but still delighted to see her again because he’s never stopped loving her. After discovering she’s been divorced for two years he insists she come stay at his luxurious home in an exclusive NYC neighborhood while they reconnect. It takes a little time for Tawny or Tabs as Carson calls her to explain to him why she did what she did ten years ago. They both come to realize it was all a huge mistake because neither was brave enough to share their deepest feelings. They both confess that they’ve always loved the other. So the rest of the book isn’t about them trying to fall in love again. It’s a lot about Carson telling and showing Tabs how much he loves her and to what lengths he’ll go to not lose her again. He also helps Tabs to become less self-conscious about her sexuality although at this point she already owns it but is still fearful others might think less of her for it. A little time spent with the Bad brothers women, Amanda, Tiffany, Amanda’s sister Ally (married to Heath Wild) has her feeling like just maybe her sexual desires aren’t as far outside the realm of normal as she once thought. The problems the couple faces are twofold. One, Tammy is only in the U.S. for five days and then plans to return to her life in Paris. Mostly because two, she’s fallen in love with a five-year-old little orphan girl Adeline who she doesn’t want to abandon until a good family adopts her. Because she’s single and has a demanding career Tabs doesn’t feel she’s in a position to adopt Adeline. What will they do? Tawny doesn’t want to abandon Adeline to move to New York and Carson’s career and family are in the U.S. The solution is pretty simple and completely unsurprising. But since we know going in that every contemporary romance has a happy ending it’s always the journey and not the destination that makes the story worth reading. Carson and Tawny’s story has plenty of happy romantic and family feels. Both characters are extremely likable. The sex is off the charts hot and there is one big surprise towards the end to shake things up a bit. I’d give this story 3.5 stars if Goodreads allows but since it doesn’t allow half-stars I’ll bump it up to 4 stars because it definitely deserves more than three.
