Bloodline #2

Hunted by Wolves

Rate this book
Three alphas forced to play nice for the sake of their mate—fated to a she-wolf kissed by the divine and cursed with gold.

All my life, I wanted a family.

Nothing fancy… Just someone to call my own, to love and respect me.

A true partner.

Somehow, fate decided I deserved three such mates. Sure, we’re a mess right now. We struggle. We argue. We fail to connect. But nothing and no one is born perfect. Anything worth fighting for takes work. Blood, sweat, and tears: I’d shed all that and more if it means we have a perfect forever.

But a dead goddess has other plans for me, turning Lady Fate’s blessing into a nightmare.

If Ewan, Lucian, and Soren see the monster I’ve become, they’ll kick me out.

Send me away.

Abandon me in the forest as the darkness closes in, loneliness so suffocating I think I might die.

Again.

So, for now, the secret stays with me. Gull River gave me golden eyes—no hiding that. But the rest? All mine.

If I want to keep this fantasy, these mates who sing to my wild soul, I’ll hide this curse until fate forces my hand.

Until the evil lurking in Redwood Grove finally rips us apart—and brings this pack to its knees.

The Bloodline trilogy is a why-choose wolf shifter romance that features fated mates but not insta-love. It is intended for readers 18+, and has cliffhangers at the end of books 1 and 2. No cheating. No rejected mates.

I'm loving this series. Witnessing Lyssa and her mates try and navigate their new mating was great to read about.
Although they were improving on their communication from the previous book, they still have a long way to go.
I felt really bad for Lyssa in this book. She went through an ordeal in Gull River; her mates, while with good intentions in letting her deal with it in her own space and time, had not been supportive of her needs. The last chapter left me on edge. When I saw that I have to wait till August to find out about what happens with the pack.......Let the countdown begin!
I can't wait to read the conclusion of this trilogy.

Hunted By Wolves is the second book in the Bloodline trilogy and it finds the dynamics between Lyssa and her mates once again change after Lyssa's incident at the Gull River.

Lyssa just started getting used to the human world again, things with her mates aren't smooth but they were getting better then the river happened. Lyssa woke up different, something happened at the river and it changes Lyssa in fundamental ways but she doesn't want to face it, doesn't want to talk to her mates about it because Lyssa fears rejection. All of it's due to past trauma that Lyssa has yet to deal with, she just buried it, choosing not to deal with it and that is exactly what she's doing with the current situation.

Somehow through all this Lyssa is still very much concentrated on her mates. Ewan, Lucian, and Soren were all a mess in the first book, not really living life, not knowing how to even to being to foster a relationship with each other as co-alphas let alone a fated mate. Lyssa has been out of touch with the human world (feelings and interactions) but somehow manages to figure out what her mates need, figure out the dynamics of the relationships and how they are failing, and manages to strengthen not only her relationship with each alpha but their relationship with each other. She makes them think outside their norm and has them taking a good look at their actions. While they still have a lot to go it looks like they were making progress.

As for the side characters, Rosa (the witch) seems like a really good friend to Lyssa but something is off there just like with her creepy husband Ethan. I don't know what's up but something is off with the couple. Rhea introduces a new character who seems deeply tied into the story and I would love to have more background history on her she seems really interesting and important. Speaking of wanting to get to know someone more, Jocelyn, Ewan's assistant, seems like she would be a good friend for Lyssa, it seems like a missed opportunity. Another female in Lyssa's orbit who happens to be a shifter herself and has had loss seems like she and Lyssa would be great friends.

Rhea still gives the story something extra with all the wolf trivia, not werewolves but actual wolf and it's interesting but I really loved the magic in this one. There was unexpected magic and nature magic link, along with a hint of more witches. Also, the little bit of mythology that was thrown in was nice and I have no idea where it's all leading to but I'm interested especially after reading the last fifth of the book.

Hunted By Wolves was great, I loved every single second of it, Lyssa becoming a true leader, Ewan opening up, Lucien letting people in, and Soren realizing that he has to work on things. All of it was great, but this book sure has left me with a lot of questions. I can't wait to see if they get answered in the third and final book in the series.

A fantastic continuation in the Blood Line Trilogy, you get as many answers as you do questions. I love how Rhea weaves tip bits of information through her books, it's like being spoon fed and still not having full grasp of all the plot elements.... the conclusion will be epic.

I love the character development if Soren and Ewan especially, you get to know the driving force behind their actions and behaviour at a much deeper level. I loved how their connection was both strengthed and challenged in a major way in such a short space of time. My heart breaks for fierce Lucian as the events of Halloween night push him away from the pa k even though their bond has never been so strong.

I enjoyed the juxtaposition between the strengthening bond with the guys being a more united and cohesive pack but Lyssa was the pola opposite and none of them realised. This is a tough book on Lyssa and she is challenged by a darkness of her own creation, I don't believe what befell her at Gull river is anywhere near as dark as she has made it. Her only issue is acceptance of herself, her past and her mates.

There is so much going on with side characters, I have faith this will all pull together in Loved By Wolves!! The steam is building as their pack bond grows, love is there and you can see it clearly through the multi pov chapters, again it's down to each individual accepting their feelings... which some still fight but that's mainly because they don't feel like they deserve it.

This book finished with a bang, Rhea is more than happy to rip her readers hearts out and bathe in their tears, so be prepared.... its such a fantastic ending..

So we dive into book 2 of the Bloodline series and it was a great follow up! Our pack is still in the middle of trying figure out how to navigate life as mates all the while they have no idea what is coming for them. You see a lot of growth from our guys but I still felt like they were forgetting about Lyssa far more than they should be. But I get it everyone is trying to work out everyone’s roles. Lyssa I thought was the best she was able to observe and figure out just what each of her mates wanted or needed. She make them all look at things a bit differently. There was still lots of magic and mystery that happens through out the story and then we have that heart breaking moment lord help me when I was trying to read and had tears steaming down my face. Rhea Watson has this amazing way with her writing and the ways she tells her stories and the stories of her characters. Our girl is really becoming a true queen and our guys are all changing for the better. This was a fantastic book 2 but I am dying for our final book because I still have so many questions!!! Great book!!

Ends on a cliffhanger...

When the story picks up, we find Lyssa trying to cope with the ‘gifts’ bestowed upon her after drinking from Gull River, resulting in yet more secrets to keep from her mates – including the truth of her origins.

I found Lyssa a bit much with her ongoing anxieties concerning her mates – them possibly thinking she’s a freak and then leaving her as a result. Given her history of abandonment though, her fears are somewhat founded, so I’m hoping this behaviour quickly becomes a non-issue in the final installment. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the connection developing between the men and how much everyone is working to create a true pack – consequently strengthening their shared bond. While we gained a bit of insight, most of Lyssa’s past remains a mystery and given how this installment ended, that revelation will no doubt...

The story has plenty of shifter-style action & adventure, some drama, suspense, mystery, danger, conflict, some brutal violence, magic and plenty of angst. There’s also some dirty talk along with explicit MF and MFM encounters, but no MM scenes. I received an Advance Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a great follow up to Raised by Wolves. The ending has left me with so many questions... Looking forward to the next book already!

It's quite interesting having this harem full of guys that just don't get along. Like, at all. They're so snarky and snappy with each other, which at times kinda irritates me on Lyssa's behalf. But this author is always so damn good at multiple POVs, and these really help explain the emotions and reasoning behind the actions of these stubborn, frustrating as heck men.

It was great to see Lyssa grow more confident in a variety of ways too. I will admit that I found the first half of this book slightly slower to get into, but it seemed to hit its stride halfway through and flowed well from there. By the end, it was impossible to put down!

A great continuation to the trilogy. This book begins right where we left off in book 1. If you thought you were going to get answers from that cliffhanger, guess again. We got a few answers but there were even more questions and mysteries surrounding what happened.

The characters continue to grow in this book, they are starting to work better together. Obviously there is still a lot to work through, especially since it hasn’t been that long since they met. I like that the author mentions the timeline and that they do have difficulties coming together. Feels more realistic, not just instalove.

There was more overall mystery in this book, not just finding each other, romance etc. There is a decent plot as well, it keeps you entertained throughout the book. The ending had some great action and really made you question what is going on. Who are they really? What is Lyssa’s history? What is going on with some of the side characters? Why are new characters trying to cause drama? Looking forward to the conclusion of this story and answers to all these questions.

*Overall: 4.5*

I am still thoroughly enjoying reading this shifter series. Lyssa is both strong and vulnerable. I felt we got to see her men really beginning to understand her needs and make an effort to meet them, while also seeing them struggle to show their soft underbelly (looking at you, Ewan). I have so much hope that the third book will bring even more growth to their characters and they will finally be able to connect as fates mates should!

*Originality: 5/5*
*Characters: 4/5*
*Story development: 4/5*
*Steam level: higher than Raised by Wolves, but primarily plot-driven (romance, not erotica)

Hunted by Wolves is Book 2 of the Bloodline series. It picks up right after the events of book 1.
Everyone who drinks from the Gull River dies, except Lyssa, she somehow survived only now she is changed. Her eyes are gold and she has abilities no shifter should possess all while receiving visions from the goddess Idunn. Unsure of her bonds and terrified of being rejected Lyssa is determined to hide the extent of the changes from her Alphas with some disastrous consequences.

Book 2 is action packed from start to finish and brings more questions then answers. FMC Lyssa is slowly gaining her Alpha confidence although she still has a way to go while Ewan, Soren and Lucian are slowly adjusting to sharing their mate but things are far from happy families.
There is a brutal cliffhanger getting us ready for what I expect to be an explosive conclusion.

MY HEART. I'm so ready for book three. This poor pack is going through so much right now, and they still weren't even functioning well as a pack until almost the end of this one. But then, bad things happened. I'm ready for all four of these alphas to learn to trust and support each other, and work together to figure out what is going on with Lyssa and who or what is hunting her. I have my suspicions about a certain side character, so we shall see.

OMG! That cliffhanger ending of this second book in the series was heart wrenching. This action packed story was full of angst, danger, magic, mystery, love, steam and so much more. It took me through all of my emotions and I want more. What a wonderful creation of characters and world building. I felt immersed in their world and had a difficult time coming back to the real world. I’m hooked.

If I could use one word to describe this book it would be one huge long drawn out f**k that alternates between happy and content one moment to “oh god oh no I can’t look” in another moment. But like, I’m in obvious love with the roller coaster of f**k. I never want this series to end.. but also like, that cliffhanger makes me want to screech with rage and terror like a vengeance fueled harpy. So I guess you could say I have some mild feelings toward this book. Please just take all the ⭐️ , I stayed up practically all night because I couldn’t put it down and I think that atleast deserves like 6 stars right ?! August definitely can’t come soon enough.

Hunted by Wolves is the second book in this series.
In this book, Lyssa and her three mates are all struggling to make their relationship work. Lyssa feels insecure because she has changed some since drinking from the Gull River. Now she thinks her mates won’t like the changes in her and ask her to leave.
If you like sexy shifters, witches, warlocks, vampires and even a goddess then you will love this book! I can’t wait to see see what happens next!

Just when you think everything is on its way to cohesiveness, the lure of Gull River over-takes Lyssa and now, well, let's just say she needs to gain some control.

There is a chase scene I absolutely LOVED!!!! So exciting! So amazing! Well done! My heart was beating so fast, and then, it beat faster! Loved the Halloween private room scene too!

Rosa is such an amazing friend!

I see a major twist coming and can't wait to see if I'm right!!!!

I LOVED THIS!!!!

This is such a wonderful follow-up in the series! It opens up explaining the cliffhanger from book one and just builds from there. Our pack never seems to catch a break. While they are busy trying to figure out their relationship and what being mates means for them, they are tossed into a world of so much unknown and action they didn't see coming.

This book is very heavily focused on the relationships again, which is the point in this series. However, there is a new threat, the same threat in the pack next to them, and a brand new crazy mystery to wade through as well. I loved that the *jerk* from book one sort of got his act together more in this book. He sufficiently came back from his earlier "moments" while still staying true to his personality. Our big guy hurts my heart in this book. I'll leave it at that. I feel like I might be in the minority here in saying that I think our third alpha mate didn't get quite as much focus in this book as I was hoping for. He felt more in the background and only breaking through a few times - once to show a seemingly "spoiled" and "petulant" side of him. However, I disagree with that entirely. I sided with him and felt like he had the right to feel upset and sulk some over it. I felt angry for him. I'm happy that the situation was discussed and "sorted" some a bit later, even if her solution did feel a bit pandering to me.
There was a really cute and funny domestic scene with the three male alphas and our girl that centered around her having her first human monthly period. I absolutely loved this scene!

The mystery in this book kept my mind spinning the entire time. It does get spelled out enough while still keeping some of the mystery alive by the end of the book. There is a "why" that gets told but it feels a little like a half truth, like there is more to it. The new enemy is still up in the air as to the "why," though I suspect it has more to do with the main mystery. The enemy pack next to them...well, there is action there. Lots of action. It was heart pounding, breath holding, and eye opening.
The cliffhanger was not that bad honestly. I feel like her worry is a bit of a misunderstanding and the focus isn't on what she thinks it's on. But only the next book will clear that up!

Things I'm hoping for in book 3?
What is up with Ethan? I get such bad vibes from him. Seriously...I am worried for our witch girl friend.
For our three alpha's to realize that our girl NEEDS them more than they have been giving her. Seriously, work is work...not life. And you can't ALWAYS be in protect mode. Sometimes you just need to be there, being affectionate, hanging out, spending time cuddling, talking, and being intimate. The frustration with them not doting on her and spending so much time away from her was real in this book.
And obviously...what the heck is going on with our girl?

Guys, it's going to be an epic book 3 and book 2 was the perfect set up for it.
Another 5/5 read for me - not surprising!

What a fantastic continuation to book 1! We get a few answers but a whole heap more questions from this book. I love how Rhea Watson gets right into the little nuances of Lyssa's feelings for us to understand. I think my heart was ripped out with that cliffhanger! I actually read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the final installment of this trilogy to get all my answers.

Wow, what a sequel!
At the end of the first book we left Lyssa at the Gull River….and boy does that get intense. We start to learn the Lyssa is more than your average alpha-female wolf shifter. And on an already flighty female it certainly creates a lot of angst for the her and hampers her connections with the pack. This thread builds throughout the book and comes to an absolute boom right at the end, and all Lyssas fears are realised! Prepare to have your hearts wrenched 💔
In terms of Lyssas men….if I had to make out, marry or maim then I’d marry Soren, make out with Lucien and maim Ewan! He can be such an a** although we do get more insight into his background in this book. Be interesting to find out more about Luciens next. There’s some serious issues and clashes between the men and the only time they come together is where Lyssas safety is a concern.
Rhea has created an amazing balance in this piece of answering questions but also leaving enough to be addressed in the last book of the trilogy. CANNOT WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON IT! ❤️

Shew! There's a lot going on in Bloodline Book 2. As if Lyssa and her guys don't have enough to deal with just getting to know each other and figuring out their places in the pack, now they have the aftermath of the events in book 1, not that any of them fully understand it. So, yes, this is a continuing story and you should definitely read the books in order.
That brings me to Rhea Watson's cliffhangers. They aren't always huge, but they do usually leave you guessing. So, I knew there'd be a cliffy for Hunted by Wolves. I mean,. the author pretty much guarantees it in the blurb, and past experience with Watson keeps me on my toes. I'm reading along and reach a point where Lyssa has this... Revelation? Epiphany? Really bad idea? Something like that. Anyway, I thought oh, no! Surely it's not ending there! Again, past experience with this author told me that she would do something like that. (Pretty sure she's a bit twisted!😉) Thankfully, I looked in the corner on my Kindle and saw 83%!
On I went, and the more I read, the straighter I sat, moving closer to the edge of my seat. And BAM! The story still got me at just the right moment to leave me needing more. And it's even bigger than my close call. I may or may not have said a few naughty words when I realized there were no more pages.
That's what this author does to me, and I keep coming back for more. Why? Because I absolutely love her characters and the worlds she creates. Even if it means counting down the days until I get my greedy little hands on the next part of the story, I'll be right here, not so patiently waiting. I do realize I've been quite vague about the storyline, but I'm trying not to give away the book's secrets while still explaining just how engaging it is.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Bloodline trilogy! I thought it was a great continuation from the first book, picking up right where the previous book left off and continuing the journey with Lyssa and her mates.
At the end of Raised by Wolves, Lyssa got up close and personal with Gull River; a mysterious, magical river that smells awful and repels people and animals alike (usually with dire consequences for anyone who gets too close, let alone drinks from it). But not Lyssa. No, to Lyssa the river drew her in like a beacon, sparkled like diamonds, smelled like honey and apples, and tasted delicious. In the beginning of book two, we find out just how much that drink from the river affected Lyssa.
I really loved that this book had a bit more magic in it than the first book did. I also really enjoyed the relationship development between Lyssa and her mates. It’s definitely a little slow going, trying to unite a pack of alphas, form a bond and create a family. But throughout this book you can tell things are progressing in the right direction!
I’m really looking forward to the final book in the trilogy! Not only because of that cliffhanger ending, but I’m also really excited to see Lyssa and her mates all come together and overcome all of the obstacles and issues they’ve been facing up until now! I’m also hoping we get to learn a little more about Lyssa, Lucian and Ewan’s pasts, and I’m anxious to get the answers to so many of my questions!
Bring on book 3!!

Hunted by Wolves by Rhea Watson is the second book in the Bloodline Trilogy and I was enthralled by it, start to finish!

Lyssa, Ewan, Lucian, and Soren continued to keep me on my toes, enamored by their growing relationships, their fire, their chemistry, their vulnerability, their strength.

Examining hard truths, overcoming past trauma, this story runs the gamut and takes you on one HECK of an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey, just what I'd expect from a Rhea Watson story! The longing, the yearning, the heartache is so palpable, and had my heart caught in my throat, had me on tenterhooks, bated breath in anticipation of what would happen next, the next twist, the next reveal, the next moment of glorious connection.

I cannot wait to find out how it all comes together in the final book and I am hungry for it, ready to devour it, and in the meantime, I'll just fall deeper in love with these endearing alphas trying to find their way to each other, to be the best pack they can be.

P. S. Rosa!!! My heart. I don't know if it can handle it! (Meaning, I'm loving it and so very invested and hungry for more!)

P. P. S. I continue to love everyone's scents as identifiers! It adds another layer of texture to the vivid descriptions and it makes me smile.

P. P. P. S. That. Halloween. Night.

The story of Lyssa and her fated mates continue in this installment and I enjoyed all the character's growth. It's not major growth because there are so many characters but I do like that they do try to change and improve themselves after messing up. I like all the characters a little more in this book than the previous, probably because I got to know them more.

There are some hints of Lyssa finding out her backstory but isn't shared with the reader which I found kind of disappointing as someone who wants to know that information. We still don't get much backstory on the male alphas either.

I did get one of my wishes in the previous review where Lyssa is briefly reunited with her family wolf pack!

I struggled with part of the pacing. I found myself kind of bored for the earlier half of the book but I kept going, just skimmed those parts. I really enjoyed the ending although I still wished there was a stronger build up. We do get hints, but the ending had me on the edge of my seat!

3.4 out of 5 rating for me!

Book two in the trilogy contains more external conflict than in the previous book, but the relationship drama still dominated the majority of the page time. Overall, I enjoyed reading as the characters stumbled their way through developing their mate bonds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay! My diaster wolves are back!!

I could not wait to get my hands on book 2 of the bloodline books, I mean that ending from book 1? How could I not read this the moment it arrived on my Kindle?

I had missed these disaster wolves so much and I was so happy to be back with Lyssa and her mates. I love that they are all still learning and I find the fact that Soren, Lucian and Ewan are so at odds with each other so refreshing. It makes for such a good story.

This one picks up right where book 1 left off and has that same pack focused vibe as the first book. I loved the pacing in this book and the overall feel of the story. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will just say that there are lots of very interesting things going on indeed and I struggled to put this down!

I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

All in all I would definitely recommend this book, and the series as a whole. It is an amazing shifter RH, which really stands out!

Oh my word where to start. Rhea you have knocked this sequel out of the park and I honestly cannot wait for the final installment.
We left Lyssa off in book one at Gull River not sure what was going to happen, without giving much away you truly will not see the answer coming.
Soren, Lucien and Ewan are pretty much kept in the dark throughout book two with Lyssa's help coming in the form of her bestie Rosa.
Relationships grow and develop a lot in this installment which I loved but oh my word do I want to backhand Ewan all over the place he is so infuriating lol.
Also watch out for Rosa's husband Ethan WOW I have no words but hoping we get more answers in the next book.
Overall this is a fantastic sequel where you will feel frustrated, loved up and emotionally unbalanced throughout. Well worth your time reading.

Interesting but... ⭐⭐⭐3.5⭐⭐⭐

The situation between Lyssa and her mates hasn't evolved a lot. They still didn't consider her like an equal, still focused on their own life and past issues instead of their mate🙄 They were frankly annoying.
I couldn't say that Lyssa was perfect but she tried to unify the guys and formed a pack but they still didn't understand🤦🏻‍♀️
And then it was this story with a goddess... Personaly, I don't like when gods and/or goddesses intervene in story. It's always the same plot with a god giving a gift or power but it's a secret, etc. Not my cup of tea.
So, I hope the goddess part won't take too much importance in the story and the guys will finally open their heart and mind!

This book picks up immediately where book 1 left off. We get some extra supernatural stuff going on and our FMC shows how strong she is. The FMC is hiding secrets from her mates, out of fear that they'll reject her, because frankly they haven't given her a reason to think they won't. She also shows how mature and forgiving she continues to be to her mates and their obliviousness, trying to make her pack as strong as possible. We get some mystery with the FMC's bestie, as well. The MMC's do appear to be trying in this book, which is an improvement for them, so I'm less annoyed for now. Book 2 ends on another interesting cliffhanger, which the MMC's better have their heads on right about, and I'm annoyed I have to wait for more time to start Book 3.

These cliffhangers are Killing me! My anxiety is off the wall! Such a good book! Emotions are written so naturally that I can’t distinguish my own from the fmc in the book. The multiple POV’s are awesome! My fav part actually. It
really opens up the story with thought process. I still hope that the final book will show a conclusion to her witch friends possibly abusive relationship and I’m praying it’s at least a chapter full of fun revenge. Seriously! Great series so far.
