Four hundred miles of snow-covered terrain stand between the men of Awestruck and a Christmas with loved ones.
A blizzard grounds flights and obscures highways across the Midwest, stranding the band at their latest tour stop in Chicago. But Gannon made a promise he’s determined to keep—to join Adeline in northern Wisconsin for Christmas.
Philip isn’t quite as eager for the holiday. The tour will end shortly after, and then his kids will have to leave their grandparents to stay with him full-time. He loves his children, but he’s not sure he can pull off a memorable Christmas. Does he have what it takes to be a single dad year-round?
When John caught his girlfriend in a lie earlier in the year, he gave her the benefit of the doubt. He plans to introduce her to his family over Christmas, but before they manage to leave Chicago, he discovers more troubling truths. Was he wrong to trust her?
A Christmas filled with peace, joy, and loved ones? That’ll take a Christmas miracle.
Emily Conrad writes contemporary Christian romance that explores life’s relevant questions. Though she likes to think some of her characters are pretty great, the ultimate hero of her stories (including the one she’s living) is Jesus. She lives in Wisconsin with her husband and their energetic coonhound and two lop-eared bunny rescues. Learn more about her and her books at emilyconradauthor.com.
This was our latest read for book group. We read book 1 in the series earlier. It’s Christmas themed and fills out the story of one of the musicians introduced in TO BRING YOU BACK. Looking forward to book 2.
This novella is a good introduction to the series characters. Although not the first in the series, it's 1.5 so definitely toward the beginning when most characters have stories yet to be told.
I recently read To Bring You Back, book one in the Rhythms of Redemption series, and am about to read book two in the series soon. I was thrilled to find this meaningful novella available that is set between these two books. It adds some more insight into the members of the band, Awestruck.
This story shows how hard the time apart has been on Adeline and Gannon during the tour. I enjoyed that we are able to see that their hearts are still for each other, even though they are both concerned at how they will handle any future tours as a couple.
I loved that the peek into the hearts of John and Philip in this story. We met John in book one, but there is some depth added into this novella for him as the reader learns that he desires a true relationship and and hopes for the kind of love that Gannon and Adeline have found.
Philip is a character who readers did not meet in book one, yet he is an important and needed addition to the band. This book sets the stage for his story in a future novel. It is clear that he is struggling with a lot of grief and there are hints that he carries some things in his past that he isn’t proud of. It is a great set up for his own happily-ever-after story in the future.
An Awestruck Christmas Medley is a fun addition to the series and a great setup for book two.
Conrad gives us a realistic look inside the life of a rock band at Christmas. I'm a big fam of "To Bring You Back" and this Christmas novella picks up where Conrad last left us. Gannon and Adeline are together, but life on the road has them desiring to be together at Christmas. Gannon is traveling with John, the drummer, whose girlfriend seems to be in the relationship for the money, and Gannon is traveling with Philip, the widowed bassist who is trying to put his children first in his life. Everyone has a stake to get to northern Wisconsin for the holiday, but a blizzard may keep them from their destination--or could it. Here we go on an emotional journey to Christmas that will have you looking forward to spending more time with the members of Awestruck.
What a wonderful story set at Christmas time! I was hooked as I waited to find out if they would be able to reach each other in time to celebrate the holiday. Emily did an amazing job of taking the reader on the ups and downs of the journey, and I was filled with anticipation, hope, and joy right along with each character. Not only does the book add more to the story of Gannon and Adeline’s relationship, but I loved that it also let me get to know each member of Awestruck better. I can’t wait to read more of their stories! You will definitely want to add this to your Christmas reading pile!
I have enjoyed the Awestruck series, and this novella is a nice Christmas story about the four band members. If I had not been as familiar with the characters from the other books, the switching back and forth between the storylines would have been a bit confusing. However, the various stories kept me engaged and overall I liked this book.
An Awestruck Christmas Melody by Emily Conrad Rhythms of Redemption Romances Book 1.5 The guys from Awestruck only have two days before they finish their tour. For Gannon, that’s only two days with Adeline. Thanksgiving didn’t go over so well, so he’s determined to show her in those two days how much he loves her, now if he can only find the perfect Christmas present. Philip’s dad and stepmom are meeting them in Chicago to head to Wisconsin. In two weeks, after the tour, he’ll be taking on full responsibility for Nila and Nason, his two children. After his wife’s death five years ago, it’s his time to step up as a father…and he’s not sure he can do that. John wants to find that special woman like Gannon did. So he’s taking his current girlfriend home to meet his family for Christmas. But, after a few incidents on the way, John has to decide if he wants that happily-ever-after so badly that he might have rose-colored glasses on. A snowstorm is threatening their travels. With no flights going out, they have to drive it. An excellent novella that lets the reader inside each of the band members’ thoughts. Along with Adeline’s. Loved the first book, To Bring You Back, Gannon and Adeline’s story, and looking forward to more. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. I thought the book would serve more as en extension to Gannon and Adeline’s story, but it didn’t. I felt like the story kinda didn’t really go much of anywhere or have a purpose. It was a short read, cute stories about kids and Christmas experiences. I was curious to see how traveling through the snowstorm would go and if they would make it on time, and the John and Nicole story threw me for a loop. However, this book really did focus on the other members… so if you were reading it to get more of a story of Gannon and Addie, you won’t unfortunately. Considering how much I liked To Bring You Back which focused on Gannon and Addie, this one just didn’t do it for me.
After reading Gannon and Adeline's story in To Bring You Back, it was a thrill to follow along with what happened next between these two. I appreciated Gannon's vigorous desire to find the perfect gift for Adeline and his insistence that he not let her down-despite the unforeseen obstacle of a wicked snowstorm that threatened to keep them apart. As a fan of rock bands, I enjoyed engaging with the other band members and highly anticipate future releases. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions are my own.
This was a quick and enjoyable Christmas read. It was fun to catch up with all the characters from book 1 on their holiday interlude in the frozen tundra! (My favorite quote: "'It's so cold'...Temperatures hovered in the twenties. Wisconsin could do about fifty degrees worse without breaking any records." LOL) Gannon and John's friendship is still a beautiful thing to watch. Philip is an active character this time instead of just being mentioned in conversations, so we have now officially met all of the members of Awestruck. By the end one can't help but muse where future books might lead.
This is a novella which brings together 3 of the band members of Awestruck. It’s a great read in that you get to see all of them and their various struggles and challenges setting the scene well for the next few books in the series. Gannon is trying to get to Adeline for Christmas, Philip is wondering if he can cope being a widowed dad looking after his two children on his own and John is dealing with a girlfriend that he’s not sure he can trust. An extra treat for those who are eagerly awaiting the rest of the series!
This book was a quick, light read. I enjoyed meeting more of the Awestruck characters. I’m really learning to care about them as the characters are developed. Also fun to read about winter and Christmas as we’re heading into those seasons. Like the first book in this series, these books leave me with a good feeling. I appreciate the faith aspect in each book. I look forward to reading these books as I’m going to sleep at night. I don’t read them as voraciously as some other books, but I enjoy them! I’d recommend this book to a friend who is looking for a light, faith based romance.
From now on, I’d like us to find a way to put down roots together. You can start this tree in its pot. Then, when you and I do get married, we can plant it by our front door.”
Such a meaningful story! I like how Emily found a way to include all of the characters into this little Christmas novella and I especially liked Matt's part, despite it only being one chapter. Since his story was the first one I ever read, he still holds a soft spot in my heart. And in fear that I would repeat myself from my review for the first book - ugh, what a man Gannon is...
An Awestruck Christmas Medley is the second book in the Rhythms of Redemption series, although it’s labelled 1.5. Conrad’s written a deep romantic story that is so much more with characters that grow as they face their pain, fears and struggles from the past and try to move forward into a beautiful future. This is a powerful book that deals with loss, single parenting, betrayal, grace and redemption.
Great novella following the story of the members of the band Awestruck. Once again author Emily Conrad nails it on the head with believable, relatable characters and events. The story totally drew me in & it was great to see how the characters from her novel To Bring You Back continue on their journeys through life & faith. It has me anxiously awaiting the second full novel in this series!
This was such an enjoyable novella. I think it fit in well with the rest of the series. I have really been enjoying this series! I think this book fills in the gaps between book one and two. Since we just met the characters in book one, it was nice to find out a bit more about them. Plus, Christmas novellas are usually such a fun read! I can't wait to read more in the series!
It was good to be back with the band. Novellas aren’t necessarily my favorites to read, but sometimes one will written well enough it doesn’t feel short, incomplete, rushed, or just not quite enough. This one was done well. We get to see more of the characters from the first book, introduced to a few more, and the stage is set for coming books. I really enjoyed it, and it made me anticipate the next couple books.
It was great to catch up with Awestruck and friends for a Christmas adventure! The big snowstorm brought back memories of my own Wisconsin winter adventures. I’m looking forward to reading John’s story in Book 2 of this series!
A well-written Christmas story about going “home” for the holidays. I haven’t read any of the series yet but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this novella. In fact, I’d like to know more about these characters — all so unique — so I’m going to read the other books now.
A nice bridge between book 1 and 2 of this series, setting up book 2 nicely. Wonderfully written characters with rock star lives and issues that every person can relate to.
This is a great novella that gives a glimpse of each band member’s POV as they attempt to make it to a destination for Christmas and with changes on the horizons for each of them. It’s a nice addition to the collection from what I’ve read of the series so far.
A well known band all trying to go home for Christmas. But where and what is home and how does one find it, is the question explored in the novella. A worthwhile Christmas read.
This was a nice follow up to the first book - I appreciated the introduction to the other members of the band and it was the perfect foundation to kick off the remainder of the series.
If you've read the first book, you'll be hooked by the fourth sentence of this novella! This novella can be read alone, but will be loved even more after reading To Bring You Back.
An Awestruck Christmas Medley gives readers more of the great story they love while sharing more about the other members of the band! Looking forward to Book 2!
An Awestruck Christmas Medley: A Contemporary Christian Romance Novella (Rhythms of Redemption Romances) by Emily Conrad is a great read that covers a lot of emotions in a short time. It is a great, fast read and leaves you wanting more, a great setup for her next book To Belong Together. Emily touches on all the characters in the Redemption series always leaving you wanting to know more. Emily can touch on things we often do ourselves and can be a great insight on how putting you faith in god and trusting him is never a wrong decision.
I cannot wait for her next book and preordered as soon as I can.
