Dive into the secret, ancient, powerful world of two New Orleans families, the Deschanels and the Sullivans...
Lagniappe /ˌlanˈyap/ " a little something extra"
I was eighteen when I died.
I’d been mere moments from throwing down a full house and winning the game with my elder sister, Nathalie, in the back seat of our family’s town car. Ah, to see the delicious frustration as I finally bested her. I’d waited the whole ride for it.
Disaster happened awfully fast. Crunch of metal. Hissing engine. Wheels spinning. The fleeting scents of fetid swamp water and sultry summer air.
Then, at that precise moment, I was aware of my own coming death. Nothing flashed before my eyes. No treasured memories. My mind, I learned, was not wired to look back. Only forward. My fight-or-flight was set firmly to fight.
So, yes, I was eighteen when I died.
But then, at eighteen, I was reborn.

Sarah is the USA Today and International Bestselling Author of over forty contemporary and epic fantasy stories, and the creator of the Kingdom of the White Sea and Saga of Crimson & Clover universes.
Born a geek, Sarah spends her time crafting rich and multilayered worlds, obsessing over history, playing her retribution paladin (and sometimes destruction warlock), and settling provocative Tolkien debates, such as why the Great Eagles are not Gandalf's personal taxi service. Passionate about travel, she's been to over twenty countries collecting sparks of inspiration, and is always planning her next adventure.
Sarah and her husband live in a beautiful corner of SE Pennsylvania with their three tiny benevolent pug dictators.
Banshee is an excellent lagniappe from Sarah Cradit that adds a new and interesting twist to her House of Crimson & Clover series.
Giselle Deschanel was one of the family members taken in a questionable car accident. However, she didn’t completely die. Her paranormal capabilities allowed her to inhabit other humans and take on their lives. With artful cunning, Giselle body-hops her way to the love of her life only to find the secret to inhabiting a little too late.
In a clever twist, Banshee ends in full circle with Giselle’s current body the same age she was when she was in the infamous Deschanel car crash. This latest installment of the House of Crimson & Clover left me excited for more of Ms. Cradit’s epic saga.
Banshee was perhaps the most shocking story in Lagniappes Collection II: A House of Crimson & Clover Boxed Set Giselle Deschanel died in a car accident when she was 18 years old. She died. She's supposed to be gone. Why, then, can she still see, hear, and feel? And how can she keep from disappearing completely?
The stories of this family and their exploits never ceases to amaze me. This time we have the story of Gisselle, her gift and how she used her special family "gift" to get what she most desired. Oz. As the story unfolds (it is a short yet powerful one) we find the background of Janie and more of Gisselle's travels. Ms Cradit has a way of twisting and toying with your emotions with each detailed unraveled in her stories. And yes they are unraveled, but oh what a pleasure it becomes. The story is fascinating yet sad in its own way and definitely worth the read.
'I was eighteen when I died. Then, at eighteen, I was reborn.' With a description like that, how can you not want to read this? It grabbed me immediately and if you're familiar with The House of Crimson and Clover series, you'll be fascinated at what happened to Giselle after she died - a highly creative alternative to what could happen to a soul when it leaves the body.
I received a digital copy of this book from the author.
Flove. The life of the dead sister you never truly realised survived in the most surreal way. When you think youve heard it all, Sarah blows you away again. Gutted ive finished this series now....
It is impossible to put into words how much I LOVED Banshee. I believe I loved this story before I even finished the first line, "I was eighteen when I died". This is the author's what if. Beautifully written and told from the perspective of Giselle Deschanel starting with the day she dies which also happens to be the day she is reborn. A tragic tale of love and loss dedicated to Charles, Cordelia, Nathalie, and Lucienne "whose stories ended that fateful day in the bayou". This story gave me goosebumps from beginning to end and I loved every minute of it.
