Note: This is a spin-off novella to the Reformed Rogues series. Recommend reading books in series order.
Lachlan Gair is done with women! First, his childhood sweetheart ran off with his best friend on the eve of their wedding day. His second love secretly plotted to kill his chieftain’s wife, and then, the third woman he fell for tricked him so her clan could kidnap his chieftain’s sister. Feeling jaded, Lachlan vows never to love again. The only problem is he cannot get Tyra Henderson out of his head. And to make matters worse, Sorcha Henderson (née MacGregor) is determined to marry him off to a stranger.
Tyra Henderson’s one regret in life was lying to Lachlan Gair. It was not her finest moment, pretending to fall in love with him so he would drop his guard. If only she had not developed genuine feelings for Lachlan, it would not hurt so much when he glares at her with contempt each time their paths cross. And to make matters worse, the laird’s wife insists she help Lachlan plan his wedding to... someone else.
Warning: Frivolous entertainment ahead. Not suitable for persons under 18. It contains mature content.
my personal markers for a great read...1. smart and engaging writing, 2. Humorous, 3. sexy interactions 4. stories with family/friends
The development and interest in main characters and secondary characters was enjoyable. I really did like the H/H for this book.
I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series). You get series book characters, nicely written and enjoyable.
I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me). Badass women rock.
Movement of the book flowed for the most part. Book writing/conversation engaging. The Scottish dialogue wasn’t difficult to follow and there’s also modern vocabulary. Action packed.
Laugh out loud humorous moments.
Romantic /sexual content (kissing, oral and love making scenes) was throughout the book. Nothing over the top, some ‘dirty’ words intertwined rightly in the story telling. Short story 2.5/5 hotness and steam.
Totally recommend author.
Will read the next book by the author.
You don’t have to read the book in order however I think you miss the true story of it’s not read in its order.
This was such a fun wrap up to The MacGregors. I'm already looing forward to re-reading them. None of the characters are perfect and all stay true to themselves. Also, Elina Emerald's female characters kick some literal ass!
A most read I could not put the book down. The main character the only thing I would say that I did not like was how fast he was not mad anymore. But it was a good read
