Dowsing: How Does It Work? provides a fairly thorough evaluation of the theories behind how it works and shows them to be unverifiable. The author says that if this practice is not scientific but works, there must be a supernatural power of which there are only two. He concludes that the source is Satan, yet he grapples with the question of those "Christians" (such as grandfather) who practice it. He seems to slightly muddy the water in stating that it is an occultic and satanic practice, yet some true Christians practice it. He likens it to other sins such as immorality and materialism which some true Christians struggle with and some even fall into practicing. He states: "No Christian is immune to sin." In this way it seems he is willing to excuse sin (i.e. Dowsing) because we all sin. This idea weakened my overall perception of the book.
