Precarious Shifters #2

Erased Certainty

Rate this book
It’s a race against time to search for answers searing me to my past, my people, and my mates. My family is missing, and the foundations of who my people are have crumbled. Three of my four mates should know who I am, and yet, they pretend they’ve never seen me before.

It took all four of them to reunite my soul with my body, and now I’m blissfully awake. I don’t know who among them I can trust, or if I even want to. While I keep my fated mate at an arm’s length, I form a bond with his three friends. The desire we feel for each other burns us, regardless of it being impossible, and yet the draw becomes stronger every day.

The consequences of my absence have been spiraling out of control for far too long. My people are now on the brink of losing their magic for good. Have I come back in time to reverse the downfall my enemy created?

Have you ever started a series...

...where you don't really like any of the characters and the plot is really meh or overdone, but you are intrigued enough to continue because there is that one little detail you have to figure out? That was this book for me.

Completed. Hell yes!! Ahh, I've been so excited for this book & Devoted my whole yesterday to reading this arc! Guys, if you haven't started this series, Do NOW!

Loved the multiple POVs again. We get more answers, Adventure, Truths & more questions too! As Cecily opens up to our 4 guys. The consequences of Magic depletion. Mating magic. We get those sexy times too! 😉 Want more!

Most importantly, The mystery of Marcellus & Marcus! My heart hurts, The ending totally upended what we thought about the M's. Left me in quite the limbo! I want to KILL Silas (M's uncle) with my BARE HANDS. I'm bloodthirsty!! That S bastard!!

I'm so excited for the next one, shit gotta wait till October (Yup, Really hoping to get the ARC, it'll be faster!). This has been such a ride, I can't wait for ALL answers, Reunions, Revenge & HEA!

I am in quite the book hangover...& here's my 1st reactions!

Holy smokes, the steam sure got hotter in this book🔥. I loved reading through everyone’s POVs, I think it allows us to see deeper into what each of Cecily’s men and herself are thinking and feeling. So much gets unravelled in this book, however by the end of it, I’m left with just as many head spinning questions as before! Can we talk about that ending?! What the hell was that!🤯 Cannot wait for book 3, I can’t even begin to imagine where it’s going to go. P.S I still hate Silas, can he be killed off already?😂

I absolutely adored this book from start to finish! Leah has created a world that you just want more of and the character development within this book was perfect, watching Cecily gather confidence and trust in her mate bonds was all I could ask for and had just the right amount of ✨spice✨ to go with the story.

Leaving us on that cliffhanger though? How dare you Leah! Give me book 3 like now! Thanks.

This book must not be missed!

What kind of hussy have I become? 😉🔥

I freaking knew it!!!!!!!! Lol

I am LOVING this series. This book takes off right where Book 1 ended. Cecily is out of sorts for still having such strong feelings towards Marcus with their troubled past. Now, she also struggles with having the same pull to three other guys.

After finally confronting Marcus, she realizes, it was in fact now him who betrayed her but maybe someone else!? Gahhhh This book was so good. It had you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

Cecily is trying to repair the last of her peoples past 500 years, teach magic to her mates, concentrate on her bonds and find out what happened in this go go go story and it is everything you didn’t know you wanted!!

Derrick, Marcus, Alex and Klaus are all the drool worthy alpha man meat, we all expected and want for our Queen. Although it has been 500 years for Cecily, they are all still learning from each other and want to be better to make a stronger connection.

The cliffhanger at the end, man o man, I figured it was coming but I still can’t wait to see what happens next!!! I am super ready for Book 3!!!

I couldn’t not put this book down.

*Overall 5/5
*Heat? 3/5
*Fast Burn (30% ish)
*First person POV - 6 main characters 😉
*Fated Mates/Insta Love
*MFMMM M romance (no MM)
*Cliffhanger

So much happened in this book, it was just a plethora of discovery of new information. I enjoyed learning more of what had happened in the wake of the events of book one. Although, not all was revealed and there was a little bit of a cliffhanger at the end.

What I really enjoyed was the back-and-forth between past and present. The past focused on what had happened before the event mentioned in book one and then followed the years following. With this, some of our questions were answered about the royal family, the evil plans etc. In the present, we are able to see some of the repercussions of the events and watch the relationship between the shifter king queen and her mates grow. We were able to learn about their pasts and how the past events shaped them too.

I definitely guessed the little twist at the end. I feel like there were a decent number of hints but it was still a pretty good twist. Now we need to know how all of the events surrounding this happened in the past and what will happen with this new information. As well as understand the secrets that have been occurring behind the scenes that none of our protagonists had ever been made aware of. Can’t wait to see the journey and answers unfold in book 3.

I definitely liked book 2 better than book 1 - we still had some flashbacks, but it wasn’t as jumpy as book 1 and flowed a lot better. The story picks up shortly after the end of book 1, and the guys have rescued Cesily - she quickly finds herself back in her body and now she has to figure out how to live again and who she can trust. I really liked seeing Cesily come out of her shell. I loved the butterflies and her connection with Derrick. The ending has a big twist and I can’t wait for book 3 :)

Great story and twist

I enjoyed book 2 so much more knowing what to expect after reading book 1.

In book 2, we finally get to see the interactions between Cecily and her men after her being comatose throughout book 1. One thing missing in book 1 was her reactions to everything that was happening while she was comatose, considering it was made known that she would have been observing everything. We finally get that at the beginning of book 2.

I was really impressed with how book 2 played out. After seeing 500 year old flashbacks from Cecily's pov in book 1, this book we get to see flashbacks from Marcellus' pov, which provides answers to a number of questions raised in book 1.

Of course, there are some twists. Big realisations came to me at the castle scene which were confirmed at the end of the book.

Of course another cliffhanger. My only hope moving forward is that Cecily realises the truth of her dream and doesn't spend a big chunk of the next book being rigid and unforgiving, that would be really frustrating.

Really looking forward to book 3.

Another amazing book from Leah

Once again an incredibly written book from Leah. So many parts of book 1 was answered throughout here but now it has left me with so many more questions.

The characters you just cannot help but love, the males all want to help and protect Cecily and they all have their own quirky personalities that make you love them more!

In this book we get to understand Cecily’s character some more which shows her in an new light, she isn’t just a vulnerable woman she is growing in confidence and the guys are helping her do that!

The ending has left me with so many questions and I was totally not expecting it even though I think I should have with the hints throughout the book now that I’ve read the end!

Cannot wait for book 3! Absolutely smashed it again Leah x

I could not stop reading this book!! It’s beyond good and the story is so intricate. I did not guess one of the twists until very late in the book which is unusual for me so that made me super happy. I love Cecily, she’s a great FMC and her men are so attentive and understanding and I’m obsessed with this group. I’m very excited to read this last book, I highly recommend this series!!!

I’m a little late to the party, but it was worth it…

I never understand how authors do it but this book is even better than the first! It gets on an emotional level, and when low hits, you feel it. Perfection!

I Cannot wait to dive into book three after experiencing them getting along, slowly getting closer and Cecily finally trusting, I mean I need more, who wouldn’t?

This is still a slow burn, but when theirs heat it burns, oh, Marcus is slowly coming around, the other guys are so adorable, I need more, I’m excited to see how book three turns out, their story is so intriguing, and makes you feel.

XOXO Lottie

OMG @leahsteeleauthor what are you trying to do to me 😱

Just finished the 2nd book in the Precarious Shifters series and I was not expecting that amazing twist of fabulousness at the end. Now I need the next book after that huge bombshell!

I’m literally speechless, that book was amazing.

The journey continues now Cecily is awake and her 4 gorgeous mates are with her. The storyline jumps from now to different points in the past from Marcellous POV and what happened after the major events took place.

The relationship between Cecily and the males is so good how it builds and they all interact with each other. I love the different POVs from each character as you get to understand how they feel and think.

The spicy level has increased in this book which is soooo 🥵 but the plot is what makes this book so great.

If you love a Shifter story with good twists and turns, some spice and just overall amazing ness go give this story a go.

Seriously can’t wait for the next book to be out to see what happens next 😃😃 I would give more that 5⭐️ if I could for this book!

Fantastic lead up to cliffhanger ending lol

Overall, I'm happy with the character interactions and individual personalities. There's a good portion of the book dedicated to character build up for a character we thought we knew but we won't actual see in the present times chapters (I'm assuming) in book 3.

He played a role in book 1 where we should want to maybe maim him but the flashbacks in book 2 will help him transition nicely into the group like a likeable last minute addition.

Anyway, our girl is a boss and her men learn it in book 2 buttttttt they all seem to work together in a respectful way instead of trying to push any one of them into submission.

I'm pretty excited to see what's going to happen in book 3 after that cliffy style info we find hiding on the last page.

Snaps for book 2!

If I could give this book more then 5 stars I would! I don’t know how Leah managed it but this book is even better then the first! Wow I cannot wait until I get my hands on the next one cause omg that ending! I loved that in this book Cecily is getting closer with the guys (yes, even Marcus) and she’s learning to trust them and open up. After being alone for so long and the betrayal she lived through, it’s no surprise that she’s wary to lean on anyone else. The guys’ characters are literally everything, I’m just in love with each and every one of them. I’m not sure that I could pick one out as a favorite but Alex made me laugh so much and he also hit me in the feels with his own feels. Marcus I really feel for especially after reading this book. There’s just so much going on that needs to be figured out. I cannot waittttt for the next book!

Omg Leah that cliffhanger was pretty evil! Though very sneakily drip fed throughout so I did guess it might happen but I’m sooo NOT disappointed. I loved it! I am so ready for book three already! 🤣 This book the steam level increases which probably happens as Cecily our FMC is now awake and not unconscious! 😁 Bonds are formed with our lovely mates who may I mention I really do love Derrick that cheeky devil also Alex such a flirt. 🥰 I really loved seeing this world where you jump back and forth seeing how time has changed through Marcellus’s POV after he does the dirty. (bad mate!) We also find out a lot of answers to some of those pesky questions we have but of course that always leads us to more questions! Bring on book three sooooooon! 🖤

Ok, so, book 1 was amazing. It left us hanging, and book 2 has wrapped that part up nicely. Erased Certainty is amazing. It brings us in to understand Macellus better, and understand why he did what he did. I just love Alex, I'm probably the only one though. Lol. Cecily is the perfect female lead. Trust me, just read them, and then patiently wait for book 3.

STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥

Y’all. The plot in this book is so dang complex and twisted. Love it!

Picking up right where Nefarious Betrayal ended, we’re immediately reintroduced to Cecily, Marcus, Klaus, Derrick, and Alex. Cecily doesn’t trust any of them but she gradually starts bonding with them all and flexing her magical abilities. The plot is slowly woven together through important flashbacks while Cecily unlocks the perils her disappearance caused. So many layers and discoveries happen on these pages.

I loved how honest, yet vulnerable our FMC was. She was kind of snarky and a bit of a tease, but I noticed all of her guys had certain characteristics that matched up. I adore when a PNR, RH spends such careful time emphasizing bonds and feelings and thoughts. There was just as much emotion as there were laughter and swoon-worthy moments. A superb balance of magic and romance.

Add in the exceptionally written steamy scenes, the witty banter, the engaging and absolutely divine storyline, and a unique writing voice, and I have to say Erased Certainty blew me away.

And that epilogue???? Leah, I’ll admit I didn’t see that coming and I’m DYING for the next book. Gimme! 😭🤣

Hot 🔥 dang! Not even a month ago we were introduced to book 1, Nefarious Betrayal. And we already get to have book 2 😳🥰. NB was awesome, and I can quite honestly say Erased Certainty was an amazing follow up. You will want to read this ASAP!!!! Based on my review for NB I can now confirm that the spice did level up with this book. Still a bit of a slow burn, but things definitely are moving along the way they should be. NB ended on a cliffy and you better believe EC did too. Totally threw me off from what I thought and was expecting...🤔🤯. Then after that ending we get an epilogue for a follow-up and talk about being 😱😱😱. Thank goodness for Leah and her amazing writing skills that we get the next book, Destiny Found, asap as well. Just one more month, and I'll have that baby finished. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

GAHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO seriously how are you going to leave me hanging like that. Are you kidding me. Okay so now that I got that out of my system this series just gets better and better. Cecily is a fantastic FMC I just love how strong she is and that she can keep our Alpha in check. I love all the POVs that we get I love being inside everyone’s thoughts. I like that we got some answers about M&M but I am stil left with sooooooo many questions. Our author has this very unique way of weaving all kinds of information and mystery into the story that you will never be able to guess what is coming. Just when you think you might have it figured out you are thrown a curve ball and I love that in my stories… If you love a great shifter story with tons of mystery and intrigue this one is for you.

WHAAATTT?!?! I was NOT expecting that!!! This is the second book in this series and it did not disappoint! It was just as good, if not better than the first. The story is so unique and complex. You think you know what's going on, then BAM! You was wrong! This was such a good book with such a good storyline. The steam was doubled! Twist and turns you do not see coming. It has everything you will want in a book. Ahhhhhh. I need the next one ASAP.

OMG this book has put me through the wringer! So many things are explained about the events of the last book but so many more new issues were brought up. I am so glad that the relationship between Cecily and the guys progressed nicely and that she finally has someone she can trust after such a long time alone. I am still processing all of the things that happened at the end... I can't even deal with all of the things that this new reveal changes. Be prepared to have your mind blown and strap in for the ride.

This book was exactly what I needed after the cliffy in the first.
So many questions answered, and the story just gets better and better. Every new interaction with the guys made me love them more. Their personalities are all so different and it works so perfectly together, flirty, funny, sweet and broody.
I loved watching their relationships grow and all of them learn the truth.
That ending though!!! So many questions of what Silas has done and why!! Can''t wait for the next book.

Erased Certainty was absolutely amazing!
The story picks up right where the previous book left off with Cecily waking up. At first she is unsure of who to trust so she doesn’t really tell the guys much of anything, especially her name. The book still alternates POV’s with the present and some of what Marcellus did in the past after he betrayed Cecily.
I really enjoyed this book. We learn a little bit more about magic and how to replenish it when you get to low in it. We also get more answers about what happened with the Royal family and then we finally get the answer regarding Marcellus/Marcus.
This is one of my favorite shifter series this year and I highly recommend reading it!

I thought the first book was good this far surpassed it. I love the glimpses at the past for both Marcellus and Cecily. We finally get Cecily's POV from the present as well as learning she was aware of all that was happening around her in so form. Bonds grow and relationships form. She begins to establish a sense of trust with some of the guys. We encounter twists and turns to the story that leave you stunned to the truth... And if you like a good Cliffie well you definitely get one with this book. I need book 3 now....

DNF @13%

I know that’s early to quit but I was already having a hard time from the mediocre story of the first book. Now we have inconsistencies in this one and we’re just getting started. Having contradictory information is probably my biggest pet peeve in a book. I’m not so invested in this to power through especially not when the guys are like “we better not tell her we’re shifters” to talking about shifters right in front of her only a couple pages later. Like????

No bueno.

I loved this book! The second in the Precarious Shifters series. This storyline is so unique and creative! I’m so in love with these characters and this world! Each of the shifter mates have such different personalities and attributes that make them completely different from each other. I was so enthralled in the story I didn’t want to put it down & when I did, it was all I could think about! The author gives you just enough answers to make you crave more and keep you curious as to what’s next. You seriously have no idea what’s coming…and that cliffhanger?! Absolutely well done! I’m already needing book three!!

Speechless! I am so speechless at that end. What!! She can't leave it there but she has. I never in a million years saw this twist coming! No! NOOOOO! She can't leave the book there like that! How am I supposed to go on with my miserable life without getting more answers????!!!! Leah is an evil genius and you should definitely prepare for the unexpected in these books! And the covers are a so incredibly beautiful I'd buy this book just to have it on my shelf!

We finally get the answers about Marcus or Marcellus and how he didn't recognise Cecily as his mate from the beginning and it is not the answer that Leah tries to implant in your head from the beginning. Or at least it wasn't what I thought and I am usually very good at sniffing out the answers. Not this time.

I was so excited to get the next instalment to this series having so many questions in my head. Mostly about Marcus and Cecily but also about her parents but also about the guys. Everything that happens within this book happens for a reason including why she needs four guys.

Why did she choose Derrick out of all the guys to protect her? Why doesn't Marcus recognise her? Will there ever be a future for the both of them? Will Cecily ever find her parents if they are alive? These were just some of the numerous questions going through my mind when I started and whilst they are answered the answers only leave me with further questions. Questions I wont ask in this review because you know spoilers.

If you like wolf shifter stories that have points of view switching between the past and the present then this is the book for you. But since we have Cecily's history the past perspective is now told from Marcellus' view.
