The Drift: Haven Colony #3

Her Alien Forgemasters

Rate this book
She doesn't do mornings, cardio, or long-term relationships. Then her mates walked into her bar...

Anya couldn't be happier. Her tavern is packed every night, her staff is amazing, and her nosy mother is busy hauling cargo on the far side of the galaxy. It's taken her years of work to reach this moment, and she's ready to relax and enjoy the ride.

The last thing she needs is a romance to mess up her plans. She's managed quite well without a man in her life, so why did the universe send her two?

He'd always known they'd find their destined mate. He just never imagined she'd be human.

Tra'var loves his new life. Haven colony isn't perfect, but it's far better than the unchanging, inflexible society they left behind. Here everyone is free to be themselves.

All that's missing is the female who will complete their triad and forge them into the family he's always dreamed of... but he wasn't prepared for Anya. She wasn't anything like he'd expected, even if she might be everything they need.

He's been an outcast his whole life... what female would ever want him?

Damos can transform ordinary steel into anything from weapons to ornaments, but he'll never be able to change the one thing he truly wishes he could... himself.

Born flawed in a society where genetic perfection is the standard, he's only been tolerated but never accepted. Haven might be different.

But when Anya learns the truth, will she see past his flaws and embrace him as her mate?

This is the third book in the bestselling series, The Drift: Haven Colony.

Susan lives out on the Canadian west coast surrounded by open water, dear family and good friends. She’s jumped out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose and accidentally swum with sharks on the Great Barrier Reef. If the world ends, she plans to survive as the spunky, comedic sidekick to the heroes of the new world, because she’s too damned short and out of shape to make it on her own for long.

Writing is her joy, her escape from reality and the only way she knows of to quiet the nagging harridan of a muse the universe assigned to her.

How this book is getting five and four star rating is beyond me!! DNF 50% in it is so boring and mediocre at best. Never in my life of reading amazing romance novels would I ever think to rate this book a five star. It’s not bad it’s just OK. Honestly, the storyline is quite unoriginal I have read manyyyy books with this exact same plot which inherently becomes monotonous when writers write the same storyline over and over again. I truly expect more from any and all alien/monster romance. There is no need to be typical in this genre as an author has the rare opportunity to go in ANY unique, interesting or even far-fetched direction as they can possibly think of going when writing such books. It’s disappointing how predictable this book is.

Once again, the author has crafted a totally engaging read that will definitely be hitting my re-read shelf :) The characters were very interesting and so well suited to be matched up. There were twists, danger and drama that kept me madly turning pages, and their chemistry about sparked off the pages ;P I really felt invested in this 'thruple' getting their HEA and can't wait to see who else will find love in the Haven Colony.

2.5/5 rounding up to 3 I guess?

Meh. Really mediocre, but it wasn't terrible, it just wasn't good or interesting. I'm starting to think the one book I liked in this universe was a fluke. Going to give another one of the cyborg books a shot because maybe I'll like another one of those. Probably a waste of time but w/e, for some reason I'm feeling generous (and don't have another series lined up)

Anya, Tra'v, and Damos were awesome! Another "FUN"TASTIC read from one of my favorite authors!

I especially liked that the heroine, Anya, was a bit older and in her 40's. A woman who knows her own mind and isn't apologetic or uncomfortable about who she is, how she thinks, or how she operates. She takes no sh*t from anyone, including her "mates".

Tra'var and Damos were an interesting and different pairing as "anrik" go. Each had their own insecurities and did their best to help each other out, but men will be men and when it comes down to it don't like to discuss their feelings, lol!

I'm fairly sure I'm in love with Damos. I enjoyed how he thought, his concern, and his deeper understanding of what Anya needed from them as her mahoyen. His childhood difficulties really enabled him to grasp where Anya was coming from.

I liked the "twist" in this Haven sequel and how the various species came together to deal with the issue. It showed how they're all becoming a true community.

Buy it, read it - you'll LOVE it!

I loved this book! It's the first I've read in this series. Great world building, and I loved the characters. Damos was my favorite character. He was a bit grumpy, but his personality and actions are understandable from what he's had to deal with. He is a mix of two species and was treated as an unworthy outsider- either scorned or pitied. When he and Tra'var had the chance to start fresh in a new colony, they jumped on the opportunity. This colony is supposed to be "a place where everyone would be judged on their own merits and not on their bloodlines." But there was still wariness and bias as not everyone who'd gone to the colony had let go of old prejudices. It made Damos uncomfortable and reluctant to be out and about. I loved watching the relationship between the three of them develop. I definitely recommend this book, and I plan to go back and read the others in this series! 5 stars.

Okay, so maybe Anya isn't a complete cougar, but she thinks her ship has sailed till she meets her mates Tra'var and Damos. I think what I like most about them is that they all have baggage. It makes them more relatable. Anya's grown up never knowing her father and even though she says it doesn't bother her, she feels rejected. Add to that, the curse of the females of her family to ever be fated to have disastrous relationships, makes her afraid to trust the matebond between her and Tra'var and Damos. Damos is so busy trying to protect himself from her rejection, that never comes that he might miss the best thing that ever happens to him. And Tra'var forgets that Anya has been on her own so long that his bumbling attempts to strong arm her into the family, might just push her away. All in all a sweet story, with great characters. Loved it.

So much fun...

I love this spin off series as it brings together what seem like totally incompatible people and shows how love can conquer all... Humans don’t have the market cornered on excluding their fellow men/women/aliens based on so-called ‘deficiencies’. Damos and Tra’var accepted each other and quickly embraced Anya into their family. Fated, destined, their union was not going to be without its bumps but, wow, was the journey hot and steamy…

This author knows how to write about the heart and all its foibles. No topic is taboo and no road too windy to find love. When this trio embarked on their journey, there were so many obstacles, most of them barriers they threw up themselves. And a few others, of course. What I loved was the way they sorted through all the surface stuff to get to what was most important….

A mature woman is always a great heroine to me. And one who treats exercise with comical disdain? Just about perfect lol. More importantly, Anya brought all her life experience to this courtship – and it was better for it! Another great read in the series…

*I happily reviewed this story

I popped this read with 5 stars. I'm all about the smexy when I read, it's why I read. *shrugs* sue me. But yeah, she's one of my favorite authors but that's not it. It was this world that she created Haven, in a time that our real is chaotic and topsy turvy, Susan brings us a story full of topsy turvy and a world that people fit in, no matter the color, shape, or creed. That is why I gave it 5 pretties. It touched me.
Each of the characters are full of personality and each has their own issues they're dealing with to make **that** fit. To say the struggle is real is an understatement especially when you have the mating fever to contend with as well.
What a most awesome story with all kinds a feels. I loved it, needed it and she delivered at the right time. Grab it and enjoy.

I loved this story. I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the interactions between Tra'var, Damos, and Anya.

Tra’var and Damos are blood brothers who are a pair waiting for their destined mate. They find her at the bar while celebrating their friend's mating. Anya is a human who owns the bar. She doesn't expect to find a mate or mates in this colony. She has never been successful with her past relationships. Damos didn't think anyone could love him since he is a monster but Anya proves him wrong. Tra'var has always been optimistic that they will find their mate but Anya is not what he was expecting. Will they be able to work out their issues to build a strong relationship together?

Has a great storyline, and characters. It seems that aliens as well as humans have prejudices. Anya, owns the Bar None, she's good at running that, making friends but not long term relationships. She meets Damos and Tra'var, who are bonded Vardarians. They know the minute they meet Anya that she is their mahaya and Anya's life changes. Anya is fantastic with her mates. There are some twists and turns, and their chemistry is out of this world. I love that Damon finally begins to feel worthy of his bond mate. He's been an outcast all his life, since he is a hybrid of two different species. They all have to overcome their flaws but they do it together. This is yet another great story in the Drift world. The characters are well written and developed - I felt like I had a good grip on who the characters are and why they did what they did. In addition, the world building is so detailed that it is almost like another character in the story. It was great to read about a mature woman who is both strong and vulnerable enough to navigate a relationship between the three of them. I also love to see characters from previous books, which just makes the story so much better. It is not necessary to read the other books in the series, but it does help to bring it all together.

A Community Grows Closer in the Face of Adversity

Beyond the edge of civilized space is a newly colonized planet. It’s a haven for the homeless, the hopeful, and those dreaming of freedom. The beings who live here might be different species from vastly different worlds - but they all have one thing in common. Whoever they are, and wherever they came from, Haven is now their home.
I enjoyed Anya, Tra’var and Damos’s story. Every one of the books in this series is different in the personalities of the characters and their interactions with their mates and neighbors. Everyone in the community brings a skill or strength to their planet. As the population grows, there are growing pains. But they make life less boring.

The storytelling grabs you from page one and I was immersed in their lives. I couldn’t put it down. I love the “world” of Haven. But my favorite thing about this story is while being set in and having the trappings of space, another planet, and aliens it is still a romance. The three main characters here Anya, Damos, and Tra’var have been mentioned in previous Haven books so we know a little about them but this tale goes deep. I appreciate having all three points of view. While the mating fever has their attention most of the time they each struggle with their place in the relationship. All of the “feels” are here and an intriguing continuation of the evolutional this colony. Great read!

Another AWESOME Haven Colony book! This may be my favorite in this spinoff of The Drift. Anya is older, set in her ways, and doesn't want to truly set down roots. She has a short term lease on her bar, she refused the nanobots, and she doesn't do relationships. Tra'Var and Damos want to find their mate however Damos feels that he is flawed and doesn't think he will be a good mate to anyone. Oh the tides change when hit with the force that is Anya. However they must not only be patient with her but with themselves as well. When a mysterious illness hits can they come together or will it tear them and the colony apart?

Forty something Anya has it good turf side in the new Haven colony. She has her bar and her health she’s been making friends. She is happy in her new life.. What she didn’t expect was not one but two hunky metal working aliens to walk in and claim she is their fated mate. Anya’s track record with men hasn’t been to great but the attraction is there and it is combustible.
I liked that the character with the most self esteem issues was in this case male; the enemy is microscopic, and the sex is off the charts smoking hot. A wonderful addition to the series but can be read stand alone.

Damos, Tra’var and Anya have three distinct personalities and they somehow made it work. There is no insta love though they immediately recognized that Anya was the one meant for them, they did try to do the “dating” thing before the mating urges take them.

The story is not only focus on our Hs and h but on the colony as well and it looks like trouble is brewing as someone or something is threatening their peace.

Anyway tavern is doing fantastic on the new colony and the last thing she needs is two males mucking up her plans. However when she meetsTra’var and Damos things change. The alien forecaster know she is their mate now they just have to convince her. Between on of her males believing less of himself a Sabatour and sickness In the colny Anya cant catch a break but her new mates are somehow all worth it. This is an excellent new tale in the drift series I cannot wait to read more about the new residents of the colony.

Hayes continues to delight her readers with her off shoot series of the Drift: Haven Colony. I’ve always loved her work, but this one screams of tolerance and acceptance of the differences between species. I loved it! Damos, one of the main male characters is different…he is a hybrid of two species and was ostracized for it. Anya comes with some baggage as well. It is a slow burn romance that leaves you sighing. Download this one and enjoy a visit to Haven. ❤️❤️❤️

So many have come to Haven for a new life. Anya has settled there and while she likes it there she doesn’t know if it will be her for ever home. That makes it hard for her to accept that she is mates to two Vardarians.

Damos has grown up being looked at as flawed. He has a hard time believe by that Anya won’t turn away from him because of that. When illness strikes their mate and the other Vardarians, they quickly realize that those other things don’t matter.

This is a nicely developed alien romance. This one is about Anya, Tra'var and Damos. She is a bit older then in most of the romances I read and I liked that fact. She is a strong and determined lady and a good fit for the two aliens. Both of her aliens have their own insecurities but they are wonderful characters. I like the authors imagination and world building in this story. The story is really good, interesting and intriguing.

Tra'var and Damos are blood-brothers that live on Haven and are Forgemasters. They go to a party and find their mate Anya. Anya isn't really ready for two mates and wants to takes things slow. Damos is carrying baggage too and doesn't believe he is worthy of her. He doesn't expect for Anya to want him for a mate. A wonderfully sweet story.

The third book in the Drift: Haven Colony series a well written story that kept me turning pages. This is Anya and the two men who come into her life Damos and Tra’var. We have drama, an older woman, a man with a past he has to overcome, an illness that seems to come out of no where, twists, turn, and love. The story was well worth reading. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ready for three

I just knew I was going to love when these two found their mate! These guys are ruff, gruff, and buff, but under all that they are misunderstood softies at heart. I love that their mate is an older woman who is established in business and her ways. She certainly has the strength to insist on change and weather any storm. The author made this the perfect story for the times when she added an emergency that left the entire colony reeling. This book is a fantastic addition to the series and I can’t wait to read it again!

Susan Hayes is amazingly talented writer who has delivered another absolutely wonderful series.

Her characters are heartwarming and the will be turning the pages to see what happens next. Plenty of endearing moments when you are engaged in the characters struggles and their own feelings, fears of the future. U are going to enjoy reading about them. Happy to recommend this book!

Oh man, I’m always waiting in tenterhooks for Susan to release a book. And she always knocks it out of the park!

I’ve been eager to see who the Forgemasters would be drawn to since reading about them in Her Alien Mates.

And of course, Anya is a complete badass Boss Lady!

I received an ARC and the above is my honest review.

Really great read

I've loved all the books in all the different places in the Drift series.
This one was a little less intense in perils faced but I still stayed up WAY past my bedtime to start and finish it in 12 hours. I preorder the next one coming out from the preview at the end the book. Looking forward to seeing Skye rocking his world to it's foundation.

Her Alien Forgemasters

Another amazing book by Ms. Hayes! I have been curious about Demos from the first moment he came up. I am so glad he is finally healing along with his mahayan. I am glad this book also took a small break from the constant turmoil and fast pace a lot of them have! Can not wait till the next one!!

Surprise, it’s two mates!

Older and presumably wiser, Anya is still caught off guard when two Vardarians walk into her bar - Damos and Tra’var are both her mates. I liked how this book celebrated differences: Anya isn’t a young woman, and Damos considers himself inferior. When the action ramps up, wow, it’s exciting - I love this series, and this story is a great addition.

This is the third book in the Drift series, and it was another really enjoyable story.

I loved that the main female character was older, confident and had her own life, but she was prepared to learn and accept her new mates for who they were.

There was plenty of hot sexy scenes, fun dialogue, an unknown virus running rampant, and characters learning to accept themselves.
