Slender, pale legs, dated dress, and haunted eyes catch the glint of headlights on a dusty, deserted highway. A spectral hitchhiker accepts the kindness of a ride but disappears before their destination. We've all heard it, but what would it be like to live it?
Sedona Ford will find out when she leaves her complicated life and bad habit of a boyfriend to help her uncle realize his dream of a hotel and restaurant at his winery, she thinks she is prepared for anything—but ghosts aren't covered in any hospitality handbooks.
Complications are usual in business, but not when they include a forty-year-old mystery of a missing woman, an insistent haunting, family secrets, a roguish ex, and a handsome co-worker who gives her an entirely different kind of shivers than the ghost.
Can Sedona solve the mystery and keep her life intact before the big opening? Find out in this exciting new installment in The Urban Legends Series.
Sedona has had a very bad workplace romance previously, so when her new roommate and colleague "Adrian" turns out to not only be a guy, but a guy she finds incredibly attractive, she is determined to keep things professional. Their relationship grows despite the spookiness of the cottage they share and is cute and believable.
All the characters are well fleshed-out and I enjoyed their individual quirks; I couldn't pick a favourite. I do know my least favourite, but I won't say to avoid spoilers!
There is a mystery at the heart of this novel - what really happened to the woman whose ghost is known as "The Vanishing Hitchhiker"?
All is revealed by the end, with every question answered. And more. 👻 💐
I have never read a book with mystery, romance, and ghostly activity so closely interwoven. I really enjoyed it. I finished reading with an unexpected feeling of warmth in my heart! 🥰
This book has a special place in my heart. Written in quarantine, it was pure escapism, and I connected with these characters on a deep level. If you like romance, wine, wine country, work families and second chances with a sprinkle of spooky—this is for you! It may be summer, but it's always fall in my heart, and this work helped me get there.
Wow! I got this in my Kindle from pre-order at 9 pm, and by this morning I'd finished it. It was funny, spooky, romantic and bittersweet. I follow this author's Tiktok, and it's fun to see where her inspirations came from. The story of the ghost was not what I expected, and I enjoyed that. Likable MC, and I adored the hero. Also, I now want to go to wine country! Such a good "escape" book and I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt some feels. I cannot wait to see what the next legend is!
I loved this superbly written reimagining of the "Hitchhiker" Urban Legend. The Author grabs you by the scruff of the neck from the very get-go, then never let's go. The Author, as always, is brilliant, witty, sneaky, and best of all - hilarious. I needed some good spinetingling shivers and laughs, what with the Pandemic and all. All the characters in this book are witty, memorable, and charming. I highly recommend "The Vanishing Hitchhiker" by Belle Zimet. This story will especially resound, with anyone who has ever experienced paranormal activity.
The tale of the vanishing hitchhiker is well known around the wineries. She has been seen by a few people over the years (then disappearing rapidly), though no one knows who she is. Is it possible she will ever be identified?
I absolutely loved this book. A hauntingly beautiful ghost story combined with a sweet romance. This ghost is very different from the one in the first book but equally haunting. There should be more books like this out there. I highly recommend this one.
The Vanishing Hitchhiker is the second book in the Urban Legend series, and it is just as enjoyable as the first. I liked the characters, plot, and ghostly bits. I especially enjoy the settings created for this series; I want to pack a bag and visit. A wonderful little haunting and heartwarming read for the spooky season.
A wonderful urban legend and heartwarming ghostly love story! Right from the beginning I was glued to every page and paragraph. I absolutely love this series and am really looking forward to the next book.
