Dark Dream Duet #1

Dangerous Temptation

Rate this book
He arrives all dressed in black. Diamond cufflinks. A watch on his tanned wrist that cost more than we would ever see in a lifetime of work. He carries a single red rose for my mother.

Months later, Tiernan Morelli lays red roses on my mother’s grave. That same day, he tells me that he is my new guardian.

I should have known from the very start that he had more in common with the thorns than the rose. Now I know the truth: I’m a pawn in his dangerous game of revenge. I was too young and naive. Now it's too late to save myself from his clutches.

Now I belong to him.

Poor little thing thought I was her salvation when all I intended to offer her was ruination.

Oh.
My.
GOD.

All of the ways that I loved this book. But I can summarize why in just two words. Ready? Tiernan Morelli. Need more words? OK, I got you.
I’m the kind of man that finds pleasure in pain. I’m the kind of man who makes a woman scream and cry because she doesn’t know how to take the intensity of the things I do to her body. I’m the kind of man that would make a woman crawl and beg for me before I deigned to put her out of her misery by setting her on my dick.”

This book was my trope crack for me. TROPE CRACK. Age gap. Mafia. Guardian/ward. Revenge. Enemies to lovers. ALL OF THE THINGS. And it was simply finger licking good.
Now I will say that any age gap has to have a strong heroine. If she's too naive or too sheltered, there's an ick factor in it for me. But Bianca was a heroine that I instantly connected with. She's a young woman who was forced to grow up too quick because of her flighty mother who's been hopping from one man to another since the loss of her father. But when her mother's new man shows up at the door and spares no niceties, she's not exactly thrilled. Tiernan is rude, crude, and seems to hate the sight of her. He's also harboring a dark secret and a revenge plot years in the making.

Now at first I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a hero that dates the mom first. But those concerns were quickly wiped. It just worked here. Don't ask me how or why. It just did.

When Bianca's mother passes, they have no one. She has her sick younger brother to think about and she's months shy of 18. So when Tiernan shows up and says he's their new guardian, it's the devil you know. Doesn't mean she doesn't defy him and doesn't fight him at every turn. But Tiernan is not exactly nurturing himself. He has inserted himself into their life with a dark agenda and his secrets can cost Bianca everything. The chemistry between them is also downright incendiary.
This. This was what I wanted. Rough-edged, teeth-bitten love. A body against mine like a weapon, inside me like an invasion. I wanted to be filled up and used because he couldn’t get enough. Couldn’t help himself. Couldn’t be a gentleman. Now, I understood that love wasn't soft and warm. It was fire and brimstone and if I wasn't careful, it would burn me alive.

This story was pure book crack. I devoured it in one sitting. I couldn't bear to put it down for even a second. It was addicting AF and I couldn't get enough. And the wait for book two? TORTUROUS.

Giana slayed me with this story and I cannot wait for the conclusion.

"Say goodbye to your insignificant life, Bianca," he whispered with a dark sense of finality. "And welcome to my cruel world."

Holy shit, I was not expecting this book! I've read this author before. Welcome to the Dark Side is one of my top fave books. But I swear, this is her best work to date! I could not put this book down! It sucks you in from the first page. This was like liquid crack, with fudge drizzled on top, sprinkles, and like one hundred dollar bills thrown on there too! This book hit EVERY box for me. It had every element that I LOVE in my books:

- A fierce, confident heroine who isn't afraid to stand up for herself.
- A scarred anti-hero with a total Beauty and the Beast vibe
- A very forbidden, taboo dynamic
- Age gap
- Dirty talker
- Mafia, family dynasty- type storyline
- Revenge trope
- Enemies to lovers

“Have you ever been spanked before, little thing? The ache of it will remind you for long after I stop that you are mine, and as such, you obey me in all things."

27287677

Tiernan enters Bianca's life when he begins dating her mom. But little does she know that when her mom is no longer there, he becomes the legal guardian for both her and her brother. Bianca gets whisked away to Lion Court, a gothic mansion in Bishop's Landing, a town she left long ago and has bad memories of.

As the reader, we are kind of experiencing things at the same time Bianca is as she's learning all about her new life and what it entails. She knows Tiernan is evil, but knows that there's more to the story and can't stay away.

"There was no romance in the way he stole my air and claimed my body like it was his right. No love or sweetness. Only animal need and driving force, a desire to conquer me that lit us both on fire."

24247660

Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger and, yes, I am going to be crying in the corner and sucking my thumb until December 14th when the sequel comes out but, people!! This. Was. EXCELLENT!!! I inhaled this book, commitments be damned! It is written so beautifully and powerfully.

And also, hello secondary characters that I want to know more about like Henrik?! Please tell me there will be more, much more!!

Dangerous Temptation is a fly by the seat of your pants, dark romance filled with complex characters and an addictive storyline. Queue major book hangover because I don't know how to go on with my life now. It's sexy, forbidden, hot as hell, and unputdownable.

Definitely a top recommendation from me!

"Now, I understood that love wasn't soft and warm. It was fire and brimstone and if I wasn't careful, it would burn me alive."

Another brilliant instalment into the world of 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆 featuring the talented Giana Darling. Dangerous Temptation brings you another dashing member of the Morelli family. Giana’s beautiful writing delivers a forbidden age gap romance full of angst and suspense. The fast paced narrative will satisfy the most demanding reader choking you with feels, you will never find a dull moment in this riveting story, my only warning is to mind the cliffahanger at the end… Giana left me hanging over that last scene and I’m burning for more.

~𝑯𝒆'𝒅 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰'𝒅 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒐 𝑰 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒕. 𝑺𝒐 𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒐𝒍, 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕~

Tiernan Morelli is a formidable, ruthless man, he’s been made hard by years and years of pain, his only language is violence, he’s been trained to be desensitized, he lives in his big, dark and ominous Mansion that is Lion Court. His house a lifeless shell hosting an empty unfeeling man.

Bianca Belcante a young girl whose life has already been tried and tested, since her young age she has taken care of her little brother and her mother, despite the unlucky hand life dealt her, she is still full of dreams, brimming with hope. However, there is also a hidden side to sunny Bianca, an unknown and unexplored part of her waiting to come out and play.

Bianca and Tiernan are beautifully tragic together, an explosion waiting to happen, Giana depicts their relationship majestically, confirming, once again, her ability in handling an age gap romance worthy of this name, although to say this is just that wouldn’t do justice to this masterpiece, there is so much more happening here, the dynamics developing and evolving with each line captured me, the more I read the more I craved. For each new discovery more questions were raised, more mysteries begging to be discovered.

Giana gifted us with another damaged hero, layers upon layers to be peeled back to discover the hidden core that is Tiernan, I loved and hated him at the same time, I was appalled by his behaviour one moment, then my heart broke for him the next.

This romance has everything I look for in a good book, and I’m already nursing my hangover in the hope Giana will bring us the next part of this story very soon.

After reading 'Bad Dream' the novella before this made me anticipate this even more.

This was so easy to get into, hard to put down, I loved his dark side to his lighter side like turning on a switch we never knew what side of himself he would reveal and that's what kept me hooked right up till the end with this delicious story.

Tiernan Morelli has never been accepted by his family, always the black sheep seeking any little crumb they send his way. Bryant his father treats him dreadfully, physically, emotionally and mentally scarring him from the inside out.

Bianca is way older than her years, doting on a younger brother like he was her own child. Unbeknown to her she's tangled up in a dangerous web, a pawn in Tiernan's game and there can only be one winner.

Another Midnight Dynasty book, and one of my favourites.
I just loved it!
I love all the mystery surround Lane Constantine's will that should be to Bianca and Brandon life's guarantee.
Tiernan's character is great, I was so caught up in Bianca's story, and the chemistry between them, that I almost forgot that he was her mother's boyfriend.
That's irrelevant to their story.
There are so many secrets hidden, I guess it will be a lot of books until we can figure all out.
description
“He’s still a monster,”
I murmured to myself as I tried on yet another outfit for Tilda, but a tiny voice in the back of my mind whispered back,
“Monsters aren’t so monstrous when you understand where they came from.”
descriptiondescription
“In the silence of the room, amid the relics my grandparents had collected over their eccentric travels, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we’d done something right no matter how wrong I told myself it needed to be.
It felt… if not preordained, then something like holy.
Something that felt right in the echoing, empty spaces of my soul.
Something that whispered softly, yes.
Even quieter, mine.
There was no oxygen in the room.
Bianca had robbed me of it like a little thief.
My heartbeat too hard, too slow.
I felt like I was dying.
Still, I stalked to the door of my office, knowing I’d avoid it for days, until the smell of her Lucky Charms and teenage-girl cum evaporated from the air, until I could shut my eyes and not see her there on her knees, crying as I left.
This time, the tears weren’t anything but ugly.
As ugly as my words.
As ugly as my heart.
When I closed the door on her, it felt final, fatalistic.
Something newborn in my chest, tender and small but growing since Bianca entered this house, withered and then died.
I staggered against the closed door, a hand braced against the lion statue flanking the office.
I gave myself one single moment, brief as a lit emergency flare, to feel panic and grief, despair and yearning.
When I straightened after that, adjusting my diamond cuff links, the ones Bryant gifted me after my first and second kill, I walked down the hall the same man I’d been before.
Before the office encounter.
Before the Belcantes lit Lion Court up from within.
Before that fated evening, what felt like eons ago, when Bianca opened the door to her pitiful house and accepted my rose.
Tiernan Morelli, the monster, and not Tiernan Morelli, the man.”
descriptiondescription
“This is so wrong,” I murmured before I could censor myself.
“Most good things are,” he murmured, and if I didn’t know better, I would have thought he sounded sad.
“Don’t worry, they don’t last.
Good things never do.”

description
And to prove Tiernan was right, all goes down hill pretty quick.
Is Bianca safe?
Or is she in more danger than ever?
We all know what Caroline is capable, maybe Tiernan is not such a monster after all, to Brandon he isn't...
And what happen to him?
Who's his real father?
Bryant will escape?
OMG! I'm so hook up in this story...

Now that I’d had a bite, I couldn’t seem to forget the taste of that forbidden fruit.

Okay Giana Darling, I see you. The only books of this authors I've read is her 'Fallen' series, but this was a whole different bag. And I didn't hate it. To be honest, I thought I would. After reading the first 25% I was like... yikes. But then, it got so dang addicting. I loved the heroine and the dynamic she had with her brother. I'm still not sold on the hero, obviously in books like this you have to suspend your disbelief a bit. There are some things in this book I would never ever condone in real life, but that's just how mafia/dark romances are sometimes. Either way, I couldn't put this one down and I'm dying to get to the conclusion! I'm so glad it comes out soon. I'll be reading it asap!

Please know going into this that it is book one to a duet! I was getting to the end and was so confused how it was going to wrap up so quickly...and was met with a cliffhanger and a note that it was part one of a duet!

I loved this book, but are we surprised? Bianca is trying to navigate a new school, a world of rival families and many secrets, taking care of her brother, and dealing with her new guardian, who happens to be her dead mom's boyfriend. I absolutely loved Tiernan's character and how he was scarred, both physically and emotionally. We really get to understand him more and why exactly he decided to take in Bianca and Brandon and what his end goal was. The romance was definitely taboo and I really enjoyed how that developed between Bianca and Tiernan. There is a lot more going on in this story beyond the romance, and that plot heavily affects Bianca and Tienan's relationship. There was a lot to keep track of with the families and trying to understand who was who and why they were feuding. Things did come together at the end, though, and it was easier to see how everything was related. I also loved the whole atmosphere of Tiernan's home and his staff. The staff was a group of mismatched people who ended up really bonding with Bianca and her brother, and I thought it was adorable.

Like usual with Giana's books, this book was super addicting and I flew through it. Tiernan definitely stole the show for me and I cannot wait to see what happens in book two after that cliffhanger!

***I know some people have issues with this, so please note that Bianca is 17 in this book. They make it a point to say that 17 is the age of consent in New York, but be aware of her age before going in!

So this was… a ride.

I should start by saying I’m not the biggest fan of dark romance. Absolutely nothing against it, it’s just not my thing (with a few notable exceptions - hello, every Sam Mariano book ever). But this one seemed too interesting to pass up, so I gave it a shot.

The story is about Bianca, who’s a driven and smart and all-around awesome seventeen-year-old, who has to deal with Aida, her flighty mother who’s always dating some rich guy or another, and Brandon, her epileptic seven-year-old brother.

Bianca always pushes for Aida to be more involved in Brandon’s care so she can focus on her studies and make some money to keep the family comfortable, but it’s to no avail. And then, suddenly, guess what? Aida starts dating this shady, tattooed, crazy wealthy businessman with pale emerald eyes, Tiernan, who is super mean to Bianca while also giving her pants feelings.

After Aida’s sudden death, Bianca is forced to call Tiernan for help so the State won’t separate her and her brother. Tiernan, who has Secret Revenge Plans against Bianca’s deceased father’s family (who Bianca has no contact with, since Aida was his mistress), is kind of annoyed Aida isn’t around anymore so he can use her as a pawn in his plans, but, well, her kids will have to do. So, Bianca and Brandon are thrown into a world of luxury and discipline and gothic mansions.

Bianca and Tiernan’s romance was very underwhelming to me, especially considering all the taboo and the many reasons they can’t be together. I just felt like I should’ve been on the edge of my seat, and I wasn’t.

I mentioned Sam Mariano before because I absolutely love her Morelly series, and I think her writing would have done this story so many favors. Oh, well.

"Now, I understood that love wasn't soft and warm, It was fire and brimstone and if I wasn't careful, it would burn me alive."

Giana Darling did it again and wrote an absolute masterpiece. Dangerous Temptation is the first book in her Dark Dream Duet. If you are looking for an EXTRA STEAMY taboo book with an age-gap romance and the guardian trope with lots of secrets and then this book is for you!

This book takes places in the Midnight Dynasty world where the Morelli and Constantine family despise each other. Dangerous Temptation follows Bianca Belcante who has just lost her mother and has no family other than her little brother Brandon, suddenly Tiernan Morelli becomes their guardian but his reasons are anything but innocent. Tiernan wants revenge on the Constantine family and he will use Bianca as his toy to do it. Bianca is attracted to Tiernan from the moment she meets him and she can't help the attraction between them. The sexual tension was out of this world and the steamy scenes were HOT HOT.

"Tiernan was becoming a dangerous temptation I was less and less certain I could avoid."

I adored Tiernan, he is your anti-hero, cold, possessive and broken character who has seen and done the worst on behalf of his cruel father. I honestly had so much pity for him because you could tell deep down all he wants is to be loved by his family and it breaks my heart. I also loved Bianca, for someone who has had such a hard life and is only 17 and looking after her little brother with no parents she never gave up. I had so much respect for the strength she has to keep going and how she continued to stand up to Tiernan from the beginning.

Giana Darling is one of my all time favourite authors. Giana's writing is beautiful and Giana always writes the best romances and I can't help but fall in love with all the characters. I loved this book and I am beyond excited for the next book. I NEED IT NOW!!! As I mentioned the book takes place in the Midnight Dynasty world and I so recommend the Cinderella Trilogy by K. Webster it's Winston Constantine's story!

Warning: This is a taboo age gap, Bianca is 17 and Tiernan is 30. (The book mentions the age of consent is 17 in New York) This book also ends on a cliffhanger.

Another fantastic book in the Midnight Dynasty world. I was sucked in and fell down the Morelli world with this one. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Read your trigger warnings, this book is not for everyone and that is okay.

Tiernan Morelli is the black sheep of his family and is treated horribly by his siblings. His father, Bryant, is emotionally and physically abusive. You have more of an understanding of the way he is and how he became a product of his environment.

Bianca is an old soul and very mature for her age. But she had to be by raising herself and her brother. The girl is strong and highly intelligent.

Tiernan is a beautiful, mean bastard of a man. I hate to love him. Tiernan takes in and becomes Bianca and her brother ward after the death of their mother, his girlfriend. He has plans to use them as a pawn to take down Caroline Constantine. Bianca and her brother are the bastard children of Lane Constantine.

Dangerous Temptation is an age gap(17 is the legal consent in N.Y.) enemies- to -lovers. I love how Bianca can stand up and verbally spare Tiernan and doesn’t fear him as most people do. They have more in common than what you see on the surface and fit well together.

The book ends in a cliffhanger and what a whopper of one it is!!!!! I can’t wait to see what happens next. If you love a strong heroine, And a mean handsome bastard with a silver of redemption, this book is for you.

Monsters aren’t so monstrous when you understand where they came from.

Told in dual POV, 1st person, it’s the first installment in the "Dark Dreams" duet and ends with a cliffhanger. There is an age gap with a revenge plot, something I love in my books but unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me here. I couldn’t connect with the characters or feel their connection/chemistry. At some point, I became indifferent to them and skimmed and skipped some parts. I disliked both characters, it was boring. Overall, this story didn’t work out for me but I hope you enjoy it more than me!

“Monsters aren’t so monstrous when you understand where they came from.”

i feel like giana darling likes to piss off her readers. i don't see how there is a major plot difference if she made bianca 18. its as if you're asking for the hate at this point.

you know when i read welcome to the dark side i was like ok... i didn't mind it but if you're gonna constantly write about 17 y.o's its gonna reflect badly on you lmao. ugh i know i'm a hypocrite because i do like some books where the heroine is a minor but leave me alone i hate this book.

anyway i don't mind when the heroines are still minor unless it's written properly. this was just BAD. no matter how giana darling tried to make the heroine "mature", she wasn't. sir she is a CHILD. a neglected child.

i hate giana darlings writing style, its just always all over the place. i don't understand this whole book bc in the prequel, tieran literally says his family name but suddenly in this book bianca doesn't know. ugh. a mess.

“Age was a number tied to the passing of time, not the maturation of the human heart.
And Bianca had taken enough knocks to be considered an old soul.
She was fair game.”

shut up please. just shut your mouth.

“I wasn’t a good man…fuck. But beating a kid?”

he says this right after whipping her TWENTY times because she didn't answer her phone. my mind is just buffering??? i hate when authors try to justify the hero's actions. let him be a villain don't try and convince us that he's good. i would've liked it more if it wasn't so hypocritical omg.

*Thank you to Valentine PR and the Author an ARC of this title*

Couple things at the start of this review because I have seen some questions floating around. First off, Dark Dream, the prequel that was recently released is included at the beginning of this book, so you don't have to read that before you start Dark Temptation. Also, this is the start of a duet, which I don't feel like was really promoted unless you say the Dangerous Press post recently, so this does have a cliffhanger.

That being said, this is a dark little tale in the Midnight Dynasty and it has the Giana Darling touch that we all know and love. Tiernan Morelli is a hard man who has a revenge plan he is setting in motion. Bianca is an orphan with a younger brother she needs to protect and no one to turn to but her recently departed mother's boyfriend. So, yeah…. We are in for a ride.

When Tiernan takes in Bianca he makes his demands well known. And his demands are total obedience. She is unknowingly to be his pawn against the Constantines and he doesn't need her free will getting in his way.

What I liked: I enjoyed how this book entwined with the rest of the Midnight Dynasty. The more of the books you have read, the more rewarding it is. I loved Bianca and how protective she was of her younger brother. He also has Epilepsy and it was good to see that representation here. Her brother definitely has a better time at the compound than she does and I like that she doesn't try to push him one way or the other. Also, it is obviously very steamy and the heroine is 17 the whole of this book.

What I didn't like: I know I will sound like a wet blanket but Tiernan was just…. A bit much to Bianca in this book. I'm not a huge fan of when Giana writes heroes this aggressive and… cruel. It was hard to watch how he was treating this girl for no reason that she could help. I know that is the point… but because he was so cruel, it was hard to believe that when things get physical for a punishment that Bianca was so into it. Like, where does it come from? I didn't feel it. Hopefully that will change in Dark Nightmare but I wasn't buying it in this one.

Overall, this story is only half done, so a lot of my feelings will be confirmed or changed when the next entry gets released. And its still Giana Darling… she tells a great story.

Well what a ride, I devour it in one sitting. This was something else, I have read many books from this author yet I find this one different. It was captivating from the beginning.

Bianca and Teirnan's relationship was unique there was such an intensity between them and there was also tension from the beginning. There was passion, angst and slow burn all at once and age gap should I say more??

I couldn't wait to see them together, they drive me cracy in a good way. This was such a great read, exactly what I needed!

We were desperate for it and we finally got it with Dangerous Temptation. Giana Darling always knows how to toy with the edge of danger and forbidden and this story was no different. When your whole world implodes in one single moment and you’re forced to see things in a different light, how do you go forward knowing that you now belong to the devil himself?

guyinwhitetuxsmoking_zpse365d863.gif

Seventeen year old Bianca now has to come to terms with the fact that she’s alone. Taking care of her little brother has always been her number one priority and she will do just about anything to make sure that he’s safe and happy. But when she learns of the person that will now be her guardian until she’s eighteen, she quickly realizes that keeping herself safe is going to be the least of her problems. Temptation comes in many forms and there’s no escaping a man like Tiernan.

21568789.gif

I have to admit that I’m new to the Midnight Dynasty saga with the different feuding families and I was under the impression that this was going to be one book. I quickly learned that it’s not and even though I’m really looking forward to see how Bianca and Tiernan’s story is going to end, I can't help but wonder what’s next for the other family. I wanted to see just how far things can be taken because as much as I love a forbidden romance, I love a dark one even more.

When it came to the characters interactions and their connections with each other, I think that the author did a good job portraying their feelings and I loved that this story was told in dual pov’s. My only issue with this one was that I needed to know more about the hero and I feel like even though he had his own pov, he still felt like a stranger. Seeing that this is the first book in the duet, I’m hoping that will change and we can see exactly the type of man that he is.

If you’re looking to start a new duet and you want a dark forbidden romance, then this one might be for you.

"It was half the reason why I loved to aggravate her. She was so pretty when she was angry. And I learned last night, she was even prettier when she cried." --Tiernan

When you can't pick your jaw off the floor and your insides are all rearranged after finishing a book, you know it wasn't just good, it was brilliant!!

Can I first just stop and say -- holy Tiernan?
Yes, yes I can because the man was on F🔥I🔥R🔥E.
I went through a whole journey with this dude, from being scared of him to awww-ing at his interactions with Brando, Bianca's 7 year old brother, to flat out fanning myself over him (and the ac was on. THAT hot.🔥)
"A better man wouldn't have dreamt of it. But I was not a good man and I didn't want to be."

And above all, I grew to feel for him.

Because him, just like Bianca, had a horrible childhood that carries on years after,
And while she shows her amazing strength and resilience in peaceful ways, he does it through violence.
But the beauty is that they both take a little bit and give back to each other,
And it's like the more you read the more the age gap magically shrinks.

Besides the incredible plot and how I loved the romance, I wanted to add that this is my first Giana Darling book, but it certainly won't be the last.
I loved the writing style, I loved her image world, I loved how every scene had a meaning and the internal dialogue was just the right amount to give us an insight into their souls. Everything was beautiful and perfect. 😍

Looking forward to their conclusion!!

"Now, I understood that love wasn't soft and warm. It was fire and brimstone and if I wasn't careful, it would burn me alive." --Bianca

*** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.***

Overall I enjoyed this story and the forbidden aspect of Bianca and Tiernan's relationship. At times I had a difficult time reading through all of the harsh words and actions from the hero to our heroine, but with his point of view, it helped me to see how he was fighting his attraction for so long and eventually had to admit his feelings.

Bianca is a beautifully written strong and kind character who is put in an impossible situation and watching how she is able to survive and remain strong was great to see.

I look forward to the conclusion to this duet and I look forward to some intense groveling from the hero, he definitely deserves it.

So this was my original review on OCT 15,2021. After reading book 2 I get the entire point of his plan. I can’t erase this though and I’m sorry because I love Giana darling books so much and I don’t want her to get a bad review. I took away my star & will just not rate this.

I think I can’t handle poor treatment of children. The minor part, although legal is kind of creepy. On his part not hers.

I also didn’t read any other Constantine - Morelli books prior to this. Tiernan Morelli is just really lame for everything he did and I can’t respect him as a man which makes me not feel anything other than grossed out by him. You know what I mean? So below is my original review…

I was surprised because I was expecting this amazing romance novel with an anti-hero and enemies to lovers vibes. I am beyond disappointed in the read. it took me a while to write this review as I tried to reread this wondering what the others are seeing that I’m not. At the end of the day, I can’t say one good thing about this book.

I found it annoying, boring, the plot was cheesy IMO because we’ve seen this exact same story flow with so many other books. Oh bad guy turns good. I just could not get into this at all.

From the very first few scenes I was so disgusted. There is no way that a grown man treats a 17 and 7 year old with such disrespect and turns out to be this hot villain to everyone right? I am shocked by the amount of good reviews to be honest because then what would make this a BAD book to you all then?

Tiernan Morelli is a grown man who is cruel to two young children whose mother just died. How is that okay? The way he treats these CHILDREN is what made me despise him. I’ve read bully novels, anti-hero novels who kill and capture, but this a-hole made me sick. He has loud sex with the children’s mother so they can hear it. Mind you, one of the kids is a young 7-year-old with health problems. But sure, keep making him suffer and torture his older 17-year-old sister who takes care of him.

The rest of the book was typical, boring dull plot with nothing interesting which is what I am used to from this author. One of my all-time favorite books is The Anti-Heroes Duet by Giana Darling so I was surprised with this one.

I would still read this author’s books as I love her writing.

I just can’t respect an adult that talks down to children, mocks children, tortures children and everyone thinks it’s hot and funny. I love when my evil heroes still have a soft spot for kids. (I don’t even like kids lol) It is just shocking that making fun of a sick 7-year-old constitutes a love story.

In addition to that I found myself rolling my eyes at the plot and flow of the story. Nothing stood out to me and reading this made me sad.

I am so grateful to have received an ARC and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Bianca Belcante, 17, is the adult in their 3-persons household of her mom Aida and her 7 year old brother Brandon, diagnosed with epilepsy. After the lost of her father, Bianca is sick of her mother's countless rotation of lovers, in her quest to trying to fix their financial problems. She has now her sight set on Tiernan Morelli, He’s from New York City. He owns multiple Fortune 500 companies, and he comes here often for business.”
After the sudden death of her mother the fear of being separated from Brando, makes her contact the only man she believes can help them.

Tiernan Morelli, 30, sweeps in, files and gets guardianship over Bianca and Brando. But Tiernan did not became their legal guardian because he wants to take care of them. No no, the shrewd man has a devious plan to humiliate and take down the enemy being the Constantine family and these Belcante children are the most important part of his plan.

From the first time they meet, the tension between Bianca and Tiernan is intense, it starts with disgust but than swings from hate to lust. I loved how her character was well developed, especially her protectiveness of her little brother. Given her young age, of course she is romantical inexperience but is forced to be wise and responsible in other areas. And it is this mentality maturity that made the relationship between her and Tiernan less icky.

Tiernan is the embodiment of the classic antihero. His childhood is a horrible one, at the age of twelve he became the outcast of the Morelli family. While he is a calculating cruel bastard, I did feel for him. I just wanted to care for him because no child needs these horrible conditions growing up.

I'm excited to see how the sexual dynamic between Bianca and Tiernan will evolved. The story is told in dual POV, alternating between Bianca and Tiernan. The Gentlemen are some amazing secondary characters, and I loved to see how Bianca and Brando had these men roped in no time. But even more endearing is to see how Tiernan is softening towards Brando and getting all possessive over Bianca.

The book ends on a major cliffhanger and I have to wait for the conclusion.......

Me thinking this book was a standalone when in reality it‘s the first one in a duet and ends on a huge cliffhanger: Da-da-dadada-dada circus, Da-da-dadada-dada Afro, Circus, Afro, Circus, Afro. Polka dot, polka dot, polka dot, AFRO! 🤡

The positives:
Brando aka the best character in the book, he needs to be protected at all costs. He is the heroine‘s little brother and he is the absolute cutest boy ever. He has Epilepsy, which is a representation that I think is very important to see (though I obviously can‘t speak on how good the rep is since I don‘t have any personal experience), as well.
The side characters stole the show, in general. The Gentlemen, Tiernan‘s best friends and employees, were such kind men. I very much enjoyed seeing them bond with Bianca and Brando.

The negatives:
I did not vibe with the fact that Bianca is seventeen and Tiernan is twenty-nine which I do believe others will not enjoy either. Now, you may wonder, Leonie, Lou in Welcome to the Dark Side by Giana is the exact same age and Zeus is even older, why didn‘t it bother you there? Well, for such an age-gap to work for me, you need to make me see that the younger heroine is very mature for her age and more of an adult than a teenager. Lou was extremely wise for her age and she fit perfectly with Zeus. Bianca, on the other hand, did not feel like an adult to me. She felt like a teenager, which is fine because she is one, but it is not fine when you then couple her up with a man who is almost thirty.
Tiernan’s character really said Go girl, give us nothing. Normally, I like a good, standard possessive alpha male hero in my dark romances, but Tiernan did nothing for me. He was very cruel to Bianca and even when he did something nice, I couldn‘t forget how mean he had been to her before. I need my bad boys to have a good heart underneath and I just didn‘t get much of that from Tiernan.
I am not rooting for Tiernan and Bianca’s relationship at all. I already mentioned a few reasons for this: the age difference and power imbalance and Tiernan treating Bianca badly, but I didn‘t feel any connection or chemistry between them either. When they started getting it on, I wasn‘t feeling it whatsoever. I didn‘t understand why Bianca would be turned on by him punishing her, that just came very out of left field, in my opinion.
So, nothing happened in this book. I don‘t need my romances to have an amazing plot, but I do want there to be something, especially when the romance isn‘t really that strong either. But this book had neither of these things.

I feel extremely bad because I had been so excited for this book and I freaked out when I saw I had received an ARC of it. I had loved everything I had read by Giana up to this point and this was, unfortunately, a huge disappointment. I do believe that others might have a better experience with it than me, though, so you should definitely still give it a chance, if you think it would be for you.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Giana Darling for providing me with an ARC of this book.

🥀 AVAILABLE NOW 🥀
Dangerous Temptation NOW LIVE!!

I belong to him.

I've read some age gap romances but they've always been a hit or miss for me and I'm glad to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book (but the age gap was still wierd and Bianca was just 17). It was excellently written and each and every interaction between Bianca & Tiernan was fire, I loved their chemistry!

"I am going to make your wildest dreams come true, Bianca. And in return? You are going to obey my rules.”

Bianca was just a teenager but she had been taking care of her seven year old brother Brandon since he was born due to which she was wise beyond her years. She was mature at her age, though she was naive and emotional, the way she truly loved her bother and was willing to do anything to secure his future was admirable. Tiernan was enclosed in darkness and lived his life deviod of love (which he should have been receiving from his family but didn't.) He was hot and cold, one moment he would say something rash that had me wanting to shake him but then he did something that had me swooning.

"Tiernan was becoming a dangerous temptation I was less and less certain I could avoid."

The book drew me in right from the start and was surprisingly entertaining. It was mixed with emotions, passion, Tiernan's emotional turmoil and his plans fuelled by his need for revenge. I finished it in one sitting and while this didn't end in a huge cliffhanger, I'm too excited to read the conclusion.
(PS. Brandon was the highlight of this book for me. He should be protected at all costs!)
