Memeology

Rate this book
Many organisations seek change for the better, but many are destined to fail. This is down to many factors, but not least because organisations pay scant attention to their collective assumptions and beliefs, oftentimes called "culture". Memeology is an Organisational Psychotherapy self-help book, through which organisations can collectively surface and reflect upon their culture – and its influence on the health and success of the organisation.

For me, asking the right questions is the most powerful method to influence change. But knowing what questions to ask is the hard part that can only be developed over many years of experience in the field. This book neatly packages up over 45 years of questioning and distills the best experiences into a very practical and actionable reference guide.

Memeology is now my go to reference guide for asking powerful questions. My favourite part of the book - the Memes section, presents 70 memes, many of which are those sticky situations you often come across as a coach. For each meme the book provides an opening question, follow on questions and closing questions. The author encourages you to tweak the questions to meet your needs but to be fair, the questions presented are extremely good for the situations I currently face on a day to day basis. Highly recommended.
