** What to expect? **

Expect a short read that can be technically termed a novella. Expect a book that combines elements of different genres – horror, adventure, historical fiction, and thriller. Expect a book that tells us an ominous story of an evil doll. Finally, expect a book that is best suited for beginners.

** Who can read? **

The book is written in a language that can be easily understood by a beginner-level reader. Further, the use of vernacular Hindi and everyday English would make it especially suitable to the tastes and requirements of beginners in English reading.

** Let’s talk about writing style **

The pace builds up quickly, with the author introducing us to a gloomy landscape, that creates a captivating image in the minds of the reader. The setting of the book, and the landscape introduced in the first chapter, automatically creates a sense of dread. It talks of a place far away from civilization as we know; a place where nature thrives and dominates, and men try to survive the harsh elements.

The mention of St. Mary’s Basilica, and the potential for discovering the mortal remains of Jesus, lends it an intriguing historical adventure thriller angle (one that immediately reminds the reader of Dan Brown and his works). I also got a few vibes of Ashwin Sanghi’s The Rozabal Line. This historical fiction angle lends it another layer of mystery, which promises to keep the reader guessing.

Some aspects of the mystery are boldly asserted, and may I say, that it takes a lot of courage to pen something like this. The author knows how to create suspense and even a little controversy and uses his creative liberties to their full advantage.

** What did I not like? **

Editing is one aspect where the book fares rather poorly. There are just so many editing errors that the entire experience of reading such a gripping story takes a deep plunge. I wish the author hires a better editor for his next read, for there are far too many grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors in this one.

** Pick the book if **

You enjoy reading novellas.
The idea of a horror cum historical adventure thriller appeals to you.
You are looking for a mild horror story.

** Skip the book if **

You can’t stand editing mistakes.

A big shoutout to "PUTLI: keya mere sath kheloge?" by author Anuj Tikku. For me, it was such a page-turner and spine-chilling read! I am the kind of person who has a huge curiosity regarding paranormal and horror platforms and at the same time, I sweat in scare like hell. The first thing I want to say, the plot is very unique and it's not any random story. The story is a mixture version of ancient facts, supernatural connections & historical adventure.

The protagonist Professor Sushant Gupta, the archeologist who studies human history by digging up human remains and artifacts, is on a mission to recover Jesus' remains in Kashmir's Golgotha hills. He just wanted to prove that Jesus spent his last days in Kashmir but it extended so far. He found a one-eyed wooden doll which became the turning point of the whole story.

I like the unique concept the author has implied here. His writing style is very standard and has the power to attract readers. Putli has the potential to become a renowned novel and Goodluck to author for that. The development of the story and proper character introduction was very smooth as well. I will recommend this book who was in a reading slump and want to read an amazing book. Also, fiction lovers and ancient history nerds can try it out for sure.

Putli, a book with mixture of genra, is a perfect book/novella for both, beginners as well as avid readers. This book is adventurous, imaginary horror, historical as well as thriller. First of all, I would like to appreciate the author for choosing a plot this thrilling and  interesting.
.
The story revolves around our protagonist who is also an archeologist named Professor Sushant Gupta. He was doing some research and was on a mission to discover Jesus Remains on Golgotha hills of Kashmir. However, on this mission, Professor Sushant experiences some paranormal activities which resulted in the discovery of a wooden doll, whose name was Putli. Pick this amazing and interesting book and know what happens next.
.

.
However there are some editing mistakes including Grammatical errors. I hope this issue gets resolved soon. Other than this, the book is perfect to read. It's a thrilling roller coaster ride. I loved it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

So, yes, I read First ever Horror book and it was creepy! I don't know what I expected from a horror novel but after reading this short horror story not sure if I'm gonna read one again 😂
This book was good, though the time I chose for reading was not!
The writing style was simple, over the 50 pages we see the doll and what she does and how she is tamed which was very creepy but... Interesting? So if you're looking for a short horror story go for this one!
