This one is probably a solid three star. I liked the mystery but it wasn’t as like…cleverly thought out as the others are 😅

Also, this did say OMG twice, and it did handle a murder. Overall, it was fine though.

A terrified young woman comes to Holmes and Watson for help. She is convinced that her life is in danger, but cannot tell where the danger lies.

This Sherlock Holmes mystery is retold and simplified for children ages 7-13. The story follows exactly the same story line as the original book by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with much of the same dialogue and narration. Holmes and Watson are the same beloved characters that we know, and the mystery is just as suspenseful and thrilling as the original.

I loved how the writing style is simple, but is still vivid and energetic! The text is large, and there are a few definition boxes that explain terms or historical items that may be unfamiliar.

I loved the black and white illustrations that pop up every few pages. The cartoony style of the drawings is just right for this type of children's retelling, and gives an added flair to the story. The artwork is sometimes humorous and fun, making the story a little more lighthearted for young people.

I can't wait to revisit more Holmes stories in this children's series! This is an excellent way to introduce classics to elementary and middle grade readers!

The story follows the mysterious death of Miss Julia Stoner, with her sister Helen convinced she’s next. Strange noises, an unknown cause of death, and a dark plot lurking in the shadows—it’s classic Holmes, but told in a way that’s easy to follow and totally gripping. The language is simple, and the cute illustrations really helped Mahek stay engaged.

It felt less like reading a heavy classic and more like stepping into a mystery adventure together. Watching her guess the clues and get excited about what’s next reminded me why I fell in love with mysteries in the first place.

This book is a perfect introduction to Sherlock Holmes for young or hesitant readers—and honestly, a little piece of joy for the parent watching their child fall in love with stories.

So good! I had no idea what was going on until the end. A woman comes to Holmes and Watson to solve the mystery of how her twin sister died a few years ago - and how to prevent herself from suffering the same fate. I love how the characters of Holmes and Watson complement each other.
