Return to Arrow Creek with Rhett's story. An all new small town, single dad standalone romance by A. M. Wilson.
Rhett Senova could charm a woman out of her panties and in the next breath, thank her mother for dinner.
Smooth doesn’t even begin to cover his moves. But the hottest playboy in Arrow Creek wasn’t always this way.
He had dreams of a one-woman future, and the cry of his firstborn brought him to tears.
He never thought his wife would cheat on him with her boss.
Each day is a feud over the dream home he had built for his ex and learning to raise his young son without the jaded lens now coloring his world.
Starting over in his thirties isn’t on his agenda. Not now that he’s raised impenetrable walls. His ex left the sour taste of infidelity in his mouth, and he’s not sure he can trust anyone new.
That is until he meets a vision passing through town and nearly gets mauled by her she-demon dog.
Her sassy wit makes other women seem inadequate, along with those luscious curves and burgundy curls.
The fact she hides beneath her tough exterior that she might be in trouble sends up red flags he’d be smart not to ignore.
Using his charm to win over the pit bull is the easy part. The question is whether he wants to win over the guarded redhead too.
A. M. Wilson is a USA Today & Amazon Top 20 bestselling author of contemporary romance. She loves writing small town romances and dark suspenseful reads, depending on her mood that day. When she isn’t furiously typing on her computer, she can be found searching for her next all-consuming read. A. M. lives in the Midwest with her husband, two children, and two adorable dogs.
Rhett's custody battle with his ex has brought him to a new emotional (and physical) low, but there is a silver lining - it puts him in a position to meet Evie, the woman who will change everything for him. Before her he was just drifting from one bed to another, but after meeting her, his focus is lasered only on her, and his young son, Tommy. The only question is if he can convince Evie that he's serious about what's happening between them, that he wants more than just some fun. But he has his work cut out for him because Evie's been through it and her heart is encased behind some very strong walls.
Oh boy, be forewarned that not only is this a very sweet and sexy story, but it's got all the feels, so you'll need a box of tissue because tears will be shed. Evie and Rhett are both sweethearts with emotional baggage, but I love how strong both of them, especially Evie, are. The way they came together first as just friends, then more, made for one hell of a story. I will not soon forget their love story, and am now very impatiently awaiting Evie's sister-in-law's story, I have a feeling it's going to be even more of a tearjerker than this one is.
I loved returning to Arrow Creek for Rhett’s story! I absolutely loved Rhett and his son, Tommy, completely won over my heart. Rhett is a protective alpha male from the start. He is going through a tough time in a life, but this has led him to Evie. Evie is escaping her previous life and looking to start over when she first meets Rhett and ends up in Arrow Creek. From the moment they meet there is a connection between them.
I loved Evie. She hasn’t had an easy life and lately her life hasn’t been going her way. She ran away and was looking for a new place to start over and it wasn’t easy. Yet, she worked hard and ended up forming new friendships along the way. Rhett is just swoony. He is protective and so adorable when it comes to his son. I loved the friendship that formed between Evie and Rhett and then it quickly turned into something more. Rhett became such a rock for Evie when life kicked her down once again. Though, he does have a few moments where I wanted to slap him.
This story was absolutely beautiful from start to finish. I wasn’t expecting it to be so emotional, but I loved that added emotion. I can’t wait to return to Arrow Creek!
If you’re looking for a single dad, small town romance this is one to check out!
I was so excited to be back in Arrow Creek and reading Rhett’s story. I am a huge fan of AM Wilson’s books and once again she did not disappoint.
Rhett was the guy who has been with his wife for more than 10 years, loves his son more than anything completely loyal. Until his wife cheating on hi with her boss. For the past year he has been taking care of his sone and become a bit of a player/. He wants nothing more than one-night stands. After what his wife has put him through and continuing to do he is done with trusting woman ad falling in love. Until he meets Evie, the girl who changes everything.
Evie is new to town and has her own baggage. Her current living situation is not ideal at all, but it’s only temporary until she gets back on her feet. She is feisty, sassy and certainly independent. She meets Rhett one night and is not really sure what to make of this stranger who is trying to help her. She too has trust issues, and when she quickly learns of his player status she isn’t sure if he truly wants to help her and het her in bed. Rhett is. Vey protective person and when it comes to Evie he has this overwhelming feeling and need to protect her. He is not exactly sure why at first, but he knows that not only is he interested in spending more time with her, he also wants to keep her safe.
Despite how Rhett has lived his life since his wife cheated, he truly is an amazing man. He is loyal caring, sweet, sexy and loves his son. His need to protect Evie melted my heart. They had more in common with their current situation and with the trust issues it wasn’t easy to open up. But as the two of them spent more and more time together they were able to peel back each other’s layers. Evie was this stg and feisty woman who I loved!!! She was in a tough spot, moving to a small town by herself, not knowing anyone. And yet she never gave up.
Rhett and Evie together will melt your heart. Their relationship was not always unicorns and rainbows, but they has a wonderful connection, funny banter between them and I also think in a way a mutual respect for each other. Rhett genuinely cared and wanted to keep her safe. They were perfect together.
This truly was a beautiful story. Ms. Wilson has once again captured me from start to finish. This book will melt your heart, and also break it. You will laugh, cry and fall in love with Rhett and Evie. It was one of those books that I devoured and was sad when it was all over. Loved it!!
4 Star Review of What Tears Us Down (Arrow Creek #3) by A.M. Wilson
A.M. Wilson is a relatively new author to me and what I have read I enjoyed and this was no exception. It was good to be back in Arrow Creek and this time Rhett Senova is in the spotlight with the woman who convinced him to take another chance on love and helped him learn to trust again, Evie Harris.
Having been badly burnt by his ex wife and left to raise his son Tommy, Rhett has become a player, determined not to commit to a relationship again. However he didn’t count on a feisty, sassy stranger with a pit bull who brought him to his knees. The fact that he gets the vibe that she may be in trouble and needs help just adds to his attraction for her. Together these two made a great couple and I loved the relationship that Rhett had with his son as well as the relationship that Evie forged with him. Their journey to a happily every after was rocky, but it was so worth it in the end. The characters were entertaining and the story was well written. Angsty at times and heart warming it made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes.
*What Tears Us Down is a single dad, small town, second chance at love standalone romance with hot chemistry, and adorable toddler, and a sweet rescue dog all wrapped in one emotional story.*
What Tears Us Down by A.M. Wilson hit me with unpredictable feelings with unexpected strength. This was a complex, heartfelt and intensely emotional love story of two broken and resilient souls. Rhett and Evie both are amazing characters with so many layers, complex past, fractured hearts and an unputdownable fire. The author's captivating writing brings the angsty and heartaching happily ever after for them.
Rhett had a happy life. His high school sweetheart was his wife. He had money, love and a sweet little boy. Then his wife cheated with him and left him penniless, homeless and away from his boy. He is trying to put everything back together and sleeping with random women in their warm beds has become his MO. Then he meets Evie with her she-demon dog in the parking lot where he usually stays in his jeep. Evie has uprooted her life and packed it in her white Lexus and has been trying to find a place to settle down. And Rhett refuses to leave her alone. They both have so many scars. Are they ready for a new beginning?
Rhett isn't exactly the playboy the blurb makes him feel like. He is definitely sexy, gorgeous, charming and oh so wickedly bossy! He gives me goosebumps and butterflies with his moves, his dirty talks and his swoonworthy gestures. He is such a dedicated single father and my heart breaks for his pain. Evie is such a fierce character. Her past is no less painful than Rhett's. But she is determined and strong and is ready for a fresh start even if it takes every last piece of her strength. They form a slow and reluctant friendship as Evie couldn't trust a stranger in a new town. She is determined to be independent .But slowly Rhett's caring and protective personality makes her open her heart. Their lives get entangled and they found peace and happiness in each other again. The chemistry was so so sinfully hot and I am sure it will make you blush and swoon. They both had so much emotional burdens and the road wasn't easy. The author put my heart through emotional heaven and hell with some heartbreaking dramas, painful losses and souldeep moments. But the ending was absolutely beautiful.
A.M. Wilson has won my heart fair and square with her intriguing storytelling in What Tears Us Down. It is my first book by her but won't be my last one.
Rhett Senova is a playboy extraordinaire, but he wasn't always this way. See, he never thought his wife would cheat on him with her boss destroying their marriage but here we are. Not seeing his son everyday only makes it worse so he has no desire to ever get involved with another woman. (Never say never amirite? LOL) Little does he know he's going to be hit hard when he comes across Evie, and her fierce dog (this meeting is something else LOL)! From that moment they came face to face, his no more relationships outlook seems to go by the wayside. Evie has her own share of demons, so she has trust issues herself, and since he now has a reputation, things aren't going to be easy for him to convince her that he wants more than just a good time in bed. What Tears Us Down was a compelling story that I couldn't put down since I wanted them to have a second chance at love, but they both have some pretty heavy emotional baggage. To see how it will all play out, you'll have to hit those one click buttons as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
What Tears Us Down is book 3 in the Arrow Creek Series but it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone although I’m sure one visit to Arrow Creek will never be enough. This is Rhett Senova and Evie Harris’s journey and for me this is the best so far in the Arrow Creek Series. Rhett has been badly burnt by his ex wife and now the only person occupying his dreams is his son Tommy, he is not looking for relationship until a stranger walked into town, a strong and sassy woman who is giving off a vibe he can’t quite get his head around. Can Evie get Rhett to trust again, can she make him want more than just one night……. This book has it all, it will make you smile, it will tug on your heartstrings and it will captivate you. I loved everything about this story , it touched me on so many levels, I smiled and laughed at the witty banter but it was the hurt, the hope and the love that took this book to another level.
So so good! Evie has left her ex husband behind and is starting her life over in Arrow Creek. Rhett is trying to get over his failed marriage after his wife cheated on him and now only getting to see his son once a week. When Rhett meets Evie he knows she’s different than other women. Over time a friendship develops between Rhett and Evie, and as time continues it becomes more. I just loved both Rhett and Evie, and they were so good together. So looking forward to the next book in this series. Highly recommend.
A heartfelt story that will have you wondering and falling in love with its characters. Amazing story and loved to see Rhett story develop and drag me with him as it unfolds. Reading the book It gave me all the right feelings and emotions A.M. knew how to drag me along and made me believe in them. Highly recommended.
Return to Arrow Creek with Rhett's story. An all new small town, single dad standalone romance by A. M. Wilson.
Rhett Senova could charm a woman out of her panties and in the next breath, thank her mother for dinner.

Loved Rhett & Evie's story. Their journey wasn't an easy one, they both had difficult past relationships that made them who they were today. I loved every page of their story! Beautifully written and heartfelt!
Thank you Grey’s Promotions for providing me with an ARC!
I’m not gonna lie I felt like this book was missing something?? The summary sounded interesting but the actual book itself was... boring. The plot just didn’t hook me in. As for Evie and Rhett, they seemed like great characters but I felt like they lacked development. An average book I guess?? Cute, but nothing special.
This is part of a series but very loosely. The characters are mostly new but they are friends or meet the characters from previous books and thats how its connected to the story.
In this book we meet Rhett, he is a married dad to an adorable son that he loves to the moon and back. His wife is a horrible woman named Nora who cheated on him and lives in his house with his son and has left him broke while she ran up his bills. He ends up living at a truck stop and thats how he meets Evie.
Evie is a new person who is running from her past and ends up living in her car also at the truckstop and thats how the two meet and form a friendship.
When the book starts I did not love Rhett. He is a bit cold and calculating. With good reason but a bit of the town playboy who uses women for their soft beds. The only thing I liked about him at this point was his love for his son.
Evie meanwhile is one tough lady. She is going it alone and wants to start her own business and get enough money and jobs together to be able to afford her own place. Through her relationship with Rhett she saves him and in turn he saves her.
I adored this story because I adored both characters relationship. They have such an honest relationship and truth telling that I started to love Rhett because of how he is with Evie.
This was a wonderful story and I ended up loving it so much. It is not a light read but is more intense of a story and I shed a few tears reading the story nearer the end.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rhett Senova has become known as Arrow Creek's player. Since he found his wife cheating on him, he just wants no strings. All he has time for is his son, Tommy. He doesn't expect a sassy redhead to bulldoze her way through his life.
Evie Harris needs a new start. She just needs to get away from everyone and everything and just start over. Without telling her family where she is, she needs to find herself. Just her and her dog, Ghost. She doesn't expect to meet a gorgeous stranger at a truck stop.
A. M. Wilson is a new author for me and this book did not disappoint! I love small town, single dad stories. Add a little steam and a little sass which makes a wonderful story! I didn't read the others in this series (something I will recify soon) but I did not feel lost. Enough information was given to not be confusing.
I loved that Rhett wasn't afraid to admit that he didn't enjoy his player ways anymore. Even though he was scared out of his mind, wasn't afraid to give Evie what she needs. He was given the shaft by his ex and was such a good Dad!
Evie was such a firecracker! She was my spirit animal. She was not afraid to own herself and let someone know what she thinks. What she goes through is so heartbreaking all around but Rhett was there even though she fought him. I loved her dog, Ghost. I loved that even though she was a special needs dog and a breed that people are afraid of, she was truly loved.
Rhett has seriously been badly burned by his ex-wife. She left him with literally nothing, now the only thing he lives for is his son Tommy… ☹ Since his split from his wife he has become a sort of player, he does not want a committed relationship ever again. But he didn’t count on the sassy stranger with her she-demon dog (lol) who captured him from the minute he met her. Not to mention the fact the h gets the sense that she is in trouble and needs help will not deter him from his attraction to her.
I loved this story. Evie was fierce and feisty and even though she hid behind this tough exterior she was still hurt by her past. Rhett I was actually heart broken for what his ex did to him and seriously wanted to slap her a few times. I loved that Rhett, even though portrayed as a playboy he is a dedicated father and since he me Evie he is so protective of her. The chemistry between this two is HOT. You can feel it from the minute they met and it just continually made me #sigh… 😊 Filled with love, romance, suspense, drama, heartbreak… I Loved the story from beginning to end ♥
Rhett and Evie I don't think I could have loved their story more. The banter, the tension, the hurt, the hope, the pain, the promises, the loss and the love. Throw in the great friends we know and you sure to laugh and cry. A. M. Wilson really did tear them down in this story. Rhett lost his high school dream family and decided forever with one person isn't meant for him. Once you meet Nora his ex you'll see exactly why he feels that way. Evie well she has been loosing piece of herself and continues to feel lost at every turn. When there comes a time she should feel like more her life fails her and so does her significant other. Now on the run from everything and everyone Evie meets Rhett. Together the forge a bond of friendship and support, something they both desperately need while also discovering you can still be your own person and ask for help. During this emotional journey friendship becomes something more how much more? Well grab your copy and find out your definitely going to enjoy this one.
The plus size representation in this book is great! I like that it’s commented on in a way that showed big women can have big confidence - and men love that. The female MC is spunky, quick witted, and funny, while the male MC is dominant in the right ways, protective, and caring. I liked that although there were miscommunications, they weren’t the downfall of the relationship. They communicated and figured everything out. The twists and turns in this book where great add one and the side characters were great, although Ghost kind of got lost in the end.
Evie, a self-employed house cleaner, is running from a bad breakup and encounters Rhett, owner of a pest extermination business, in a truck stop parking lot when she stops in Arrow Creek for the night. As the story progresses running from the present sidelines them, sharing their past makes life a little more bearable, and overcoming the roadblocks they face may not guarantee that they will continue together. A.M. Wilson dropped a few bombs in this engaging small town romance that centers around group of friends finding their perfect match. Be prepared to laugh, jeer, and cry at the antics and actions of the characters as the author has put into What Tears Us Down. I can’t wait for Dane’s book after reading this one.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
This is Rhett and Evies story. Both are seemingly "down and out" sleeping in their cars at night, both are trying to move on from failed relationships. You quickly realise that Rhett is as down and out as he first appears and its beautful watching him trying to help a very independant and stuborn Evie. There are a lot of interesting developments in Rhett and Evies relationship and very clearly some hot chemistry bubbling between them. Expect and few teary tissue moments as well as a bit of cliffy right at the end which is clearly a lead into book 4.
This was a great read. I think this is my first read by this author. This book takes you a journey of self discovery. It's emotional in parts and cute in others Evie meets this guy Rhett at the same truck shop they were both sleeping in their cars. Rhett is soon to be divorce and is a single dad. Older guy/younger woman This book as everything you need in it. Find out what happens then pick up your copy today #kbsbloggingandreviews.
Another amazing read by A.M Brooks .Once I started reading what Tears us down it was almost impossible to stop . I found myself becoming completely invested in both Rhett and Evie’s characters. If you love alpha heroes , single dad romances and a couple with off the charts chemistry then this is the book for you . This book has all the feels , it’s steamy , it’s full of emotion and you will find yourself feeling so many things ( there were times I felt like I was on a rollercoaster but in the best way possible . I loved this amazing book so much , but am left anticipating the next book in the series ❤️❤️
A good read. Rhett and Evie had a powerful attraction and the angst and tension between the two was hot!!! A Standalone Single Dad trope. I'd recommend for a happy read.
Rhett: He caught his wife cheating - and with her at the house, he lives out of his car. Evie: Her fiance fails her, and leaves her in debt, so she lives out of her car with Ghost - her blind and deaf dog.
It sounds grim, but these characters are resilient. They create a friendship starting with their shared circumstance, but resulting in a wonderful relationship.
The journey is intense, entertaining and totally engrossing. What a great read!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
I loved Rhett and Evie’s story. It really pulled at the heartstrings. These two characters weren’t looking for a relationship. They were both just trying to get their lives back on track. Things weren’t all sunshine and roses, but I so want these two to have a HEA.
I saw a quote a while ago, and when I read this story it came to mind.
ARC provided for A.M. Wilson in exchange for an honest review.
If anyone finds my heart, please return it! It jumped out of my chest while reading this book! I haven't fully recovered. This book was one of my most anticipated realises of the year and it DID NOT Disappoint. I'll be lying if I say it's not one of my favourites this year.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I WOULD IN A HEARTBEAT!!!
I love the book, and most times I fall in love with the author's writing. I loved Allison writing and I'll definitely be coming back for more. I really enjoyed this book, devouring it in one sitting just like the previous one. Allison has such an incredible way with words. I was drawn in from the very start and I've yet to let go of these amazing characters.
Their sexy scenes had me fanning my face, boy are they hot, hot, hot!! This book went way above my expectations and truly blew me away! This is one of those books that sink their teeth into you really quick and don’t let you go until you finish.
I’m very happy that I’m a Allison fan because her books are special reads. I can’t wait to see what she has planned for us next in this series.
What Tears Us Down by A.M. Wilson is book three in the Arrow Creek Series. This is the story of Rhett and Evie. For me this was a standalone book. Rhett is starting over with his son. Evie too has had her lows and when they meet when her dog hurts Rhett sparks fly. Both are at their low point when they meet so each isn't to ready to jump into a relationship.
What Tears Us Down is the first book of A.M. Wilson that I’ve read and definitely not the last. I loved everything about Rhett and Evie’s story. There is a HEA, but the road there is pretty bumpy. They both have to learn to trust and fight their own demons. The characters are entertaining, they made me laugh many times, but there were also moments when I cried a little. The book is really well-written and a very enjoyable story.
I loved being back in Arrow Creek. Rhett is left to raise his son Tommy after his ex-wife screwed him over and due to that he doesn’t want to be in a relationship with anyone ever again. Even though he’s got a wonderful charm and wonderful dirty talk. My heart just broke for Rhett and everything that he had gone thought. Evie has a tuff exterior due to her past, she’s strong and determined firecracker with an adorable dog named Ghost. The journey that these two go on was beautiful and heartbreaking wrapped all up in a pretty bow. I didn’t want this to end.
What Tears Us Down Rhett Senova and Evie had amazing chemistry! The storyline as well as the plot were well thought out. I was pulled into their problems and drama with nervousness and excitement. The fact that he was a Single Dad of Tommy, didn’t pull me away from the story but further endeared me to his character and the problems that Evie went through were very relatable as well as perfectly executed. I liked that she fought falling immediately in love and did her best to stand on her own. It shows that women are strong and can persevere through anything but at other times there are circumstances when you absolutely need someone to lean on. I love that these two were apprehensive about Love but unintentionally found love together despite all the odds. Rhett and Evie were very well written and came across as perfectly imperfect, this isn’t exactly a fairy tale this is life at its most nitty gritty but also ends in love. I loved this book and absolutely look forward to reading the next one because I’m interested to see how Dane and Caiti’s story plays out. Keep up the great work because I was on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding and keeping Kleenex near me just in case, I came close, very close to needing the Kleenex 🤣 This book really wreaks havoc with you emotions. It’s definitely an emotional roller coaster that you don’t want to get off of and can’t get enough of. Well written and well executed book; I recommend to anyone who loves Romance, Drama and Slice of Life!
