Sean had been through something close to hell— he’d taken out Klein Denmur and Knight Evan Sharpeyes, along with a few of Lord Truestrike’s servants, but Chastity and Lilly died on the fields outside the city. At the end of that battle, he claimed Helga Helsdottir, Soul Bonding her and renaming her Helga Oathsworn. With a Valkyrie by his side, Sean hoped never to lose another loved one to death.
His enemies were far from done with him, however. Attacks on the association and their families started, claiming lives and hurting Sean’s friends. Finished with just trying to live his life, Sean made plans to take on his enemies directly.
The turning point came when Sean confronted Denmur and his group outside the Golden Lion. Helga struck down Denmur’s champion, Knight Mithrilarm, during the ensuing duel, causing Denmur to snap. The fight left Denmur, plus dozens of others, dead.
Even that wasn’t the end— the corrupt guards in Lord Sharpeyes’ pay arrested Sean and Helga. As they were brought before Magister Amuret, Sean discovered just how far he’d pushed his enemies when he was attacked and killed in the courtroom.
Death could not stop Sean while he had energy to invoke his gifts from the Tuatha. Pushing death away, Sean got back to his feet and killed the guards and magistrate who had tried to murder him. He was brought before the unusually reasonable chief magistrate, who found Sean innocent of any wrongdoing.
Sean’s Bond with Helga gave him access to new planes, including the Bog. That was where the souls of Sean’s foes now went if they died while in combat with him. In an effort to find out more about who was directing the attacks against him, Sean paid a visit to the dead in the Bog. He was determined to end the troubles facing him, even if it meant finding a Noble Solution. (This work contains adult situations that some might find offensive, the least of which is graphic sex. This book is about an Overpowered MC, and contains a harem. You’ve been warned.)

I can say with sufficient vagueness to not spoil that the title led me to numerous conclusions, some wrong some not so wrong. If you've been keeping track of Sean MacDougal's exploits as I have then I doubt you need my recommendation to make you want to dive in and binge this installment cover to cover but if you do then GO READ IT buy it or borrow it on MY NOW!!! For anyone else who somehow found this book and has NOT read all 6 prior books starting with Morrigan's Bidding then I highly recommend that you start there and let the wonderful characters and story carry you away to a land of magic where words themselves can have true binding power!
Another good addition to the series. This one had more crafting and more women added to the family. Overall I am enjoying the series. I still hope the MC gets over his shyness around beautiful women being naked. He has multiple wives and sees then naked twice a day in the shower for months and he still gets red with embarrassment whenever he looks? It's book 7 already. I would have thought he would have gotten used to that at least a couple of books ago. That's a minor thing though.
Was checking out Amazon new releases and saw this continuation and was so happy. Mr. Schinhofen sure doesn't disappoint. This is a great continuation of the series. Love the ending Sean is starting to throw off some of his shackles of being a minor guy and leaning more into his possible future as a divine being. Can't wait for the next book.
Am I the only one who feels that Sean might maybe hook up with Darragh's daughter or with one or both of the queens and become essentially Oberon King of the Fae? I just get this feeling that, that might happen eventually. Well, I wonder if my theory pans out.
Sometimes it is hard to imagine where the story can go next. But this author continues to grow the story and expand the characters.
It shall be interesting to see how the author continues the story in the next book. If he follows his normal trend the next should finish the series?
The author with this story can go beyond his normal 8 book set and I hope he does as this has been a great story! But damn, I got to say I wish I was a "chick magnet" like Sean. Again well done Daniel! I and your fans eagerly awaited the book! 5*****
This was one of the best books In The series in my opinion the last couple have been great don’t get me wrong but Sean has been a little to demure and defensive for the kind of power he holds and I’m doing so but the lives of the people he cares for in more danger. This book however you see a change in him a change to finally do what needs to be done. I hope this continues into book 8 I’m looking forward to it
As always another phenomenal piece of this great story. I feel this world growing bigger soon. Reading the series every time a new book comes out has become a rewarding experience. Love all the series by this author I have read so far. I encourage All that enjoy a "slice of life" story to grab the whole series, maybe a couple of them. Look for recommendations on the authors Facebook page.
Daniel Schinhofen is one of the few authors who can make me cry. Binding Words is a truly powerful series. With characters who attach themselves to you and a rich and vibrant world. Honestly so many things I want to say but don't actually have the words to express how good this book and series is.
I really like this series it is well thought out and entertaining . I am anxiously waiting for the next book. I apologize for not going into detail but I dont want to give any spoilers. :)
So good. It’s 4am and I need to get some sleep. There are a lot of characters to keep track of and if you are not reading the books back to back you might find it a bit hard to remember them all. I struggled a bit with some of the characters, but it didn’t really distract from the enjoyable story that unfolded. Another masterpiece from Daniel.
Can I just say hit diggedy dog! I read it non stop after I bought it and it was AWESOME!! The overall plot of the series moves much quicker in this installment. We finally get the big fight with Lord Sharpeyes we’ve been waiting for and that was nicely done. Can’t wait to see what happens next
I liked the story, and the end was rushed. Sean keeps falling for stupid tricks. There were a lot of time skips and jumps in the book that made the flow a little jarring. I kept thinking I missed something. It’s really 3 stars but I g e the 4th because I still liked it.
Noble Solutions (Binding Words #7) by Daniel Schinhofen Reviewed by Kiba Snowpaw, Alpha Ice Wolf of HowlStrom, 38 years in the game, still rocking the coldest takes in the tundra. 🐺❄️
Introduction Alright, my frostbitten pack, gather round the campfire—because today, I’m tearing into Noble Solutions, the seventh thick slice in Daniel Schinhofen’s Binding Words saga. Dropping in July 2021, this book blends fantasy, harem hijinks, magitech, and the kind of emotional whiplash that’ll leave your fur standing on end. This isn’t just another tale—it’s survival in the wilds, where your heart and your sanity are always at risk. So, brush off the snow, settle in, and let’s get down to the meaty bones of this beast.
Essential Hook & Thesis What does it mean to fight back when you’ve lost nearly everything? Can a pack ever be whole again? And when the claws come out, is justice even possible for a guy juggling gods, wives, enemies, and his own insecurities? That’s the core of Noble Solutions—after too many losses, Sean finally howls back, and this time, he’s not holding anything back. The thesis: Sometimes you gotta stop surviving and start fighting for your own damn future.
Basic Plot Summary No spoilers, but let’s just say: Sean’s been through the grinder—lost loved ones, gained a Valkyrie (shout out to Helga Oathsworn!), and buried enough enemies to fill a mountain. Still, his enemies—nobles, corrupted guards, and shadowy manipulators—aren’t done with him. Instead of rolling over, Sean levels up, goes on the offensive, and smacks back so hard, the aftershocks echo into new magical realms like the Bog (yeah, he can literally visit the afterlife now… try topping that, other MCs). There’s betrayal, resurrection, and, as always, that relentless question: Is a noble solution even possible, or do you just bite back harder than ever?
The Author Daniel Schinhofen is the mad alchemist of LitRPG and harem-lit, crafting sprawling, emotionally dense worlds since 2016. His rep as a self-pub powerhouse is legit—if you like deep world-building, OP MCs, and actual consequences, you’ve already got his work on your shelf. He’s dropped 60+ books, grabbed Amazon best-seller spots, and built a diehard fanbase (and, okay, a few grumpy critics). Schinhofen writes for those who want more than just a power fantasy; he’s here for the awkward family dinners, the PTSD, the jealousy, and, of course, the heart-to-heart wolfpack moments.
Characters Sean: The ice-scarred, still-too-humble MC. Imagine a guy who’s OP but can’t get over his own survivor’s guilt or the fact that his harem is now double-digits. Finally, he’s stopped just reacting and started acting—paws up for that. Helga Oathsworn: The Valkyrie queen, newly Soul-Bonded, brings warrior energy and actual muscle to Sean’s side. Not just another love interest, but a power-up that pushes Sean to face real stakes. The Harem: The wives keep multiplying, which is fun in theory but makes remembering names a real challenge. The dynamics range from “warm and fuzzy” to “awkward pack meeting”—sometimes deep, sometimes repetitive. Villains (Denmur, Sharpeyes, corrupt guards, etc.): They’re snakes in the grass, but finally, Sean is biting back. Props for the author making the antagonists a *real* threat—losses hurt, victories aren’t easy.
Structure Schinhofen’s pacing is like an avalanche—slow build, then a crushing, chaotic slide. Lots of slice-of-life (breakfasts, crafting, family drama), interrupted by bloody duels, betrayals, and major payoffs. Narratively, this one actually wraps up the major Hearthglen arc—no brutal cliffhangers, but enough loose ends for the next hunt. If you’re new, don’t start here—you’ll get lost faster than a pup in a snowstorm. This is deep, serialized storytelling with no patience for newbies.
Themes & Analysis Noble Solutions chews hard on themes of resilience, family, revenge, and leadership under trauma. It’s a story about what happens when survival isn’t enough—when you need to carve your own fate. There’s a meditation on loss—Sean is *haunted* by those who didn’t make it, and every victory comes with scars. There’s also the challenge of leadership, both in romance and war, and the wild, messy truth of polyamorous love. Does the magical bond solve everything? Nah, but it sure helps explain why nobody’s torn out anyone’s throat (yet). Writing style? Still clean, but with a heavy focus on emotional and relational fallout. The drama is real.
Scenes: Sex, Harem, Erotica, Romance Yeah, there’s explicit content. Some scenes are full-throttle, others “fade to black.” But unlike cheap smut, the sex here is about connection, recovery, and the deepening of bonds—especially as the harem grows. Sometimes it’s heart-warming, sometimes it’s exhausting, sometimes you want to bark at Sean for being so bashful after the seventh wife. The dynamic isn’t always believable, but the emotional attempts are appreciated. If you’re here for hardcore harem action, you’ll get some—but don’t expect endless kink. More like “therapeutic snuggles, group trauma, and the occasional steamy detour.”
World-Building Still top tier. Hearthglen and beyond feel lived-in, magical, and politically alive. The contracts, gods, magitech (light bulbs, anyone?), and even the afterlife mechanics are fresh and interesting. Compared to other harem-lit? More mature, less wish-fulfillment. If you dig slice-of-life with a heavy magical/political undercurrent, this is your den. If you want non-stop dungeons and battles, maybe not so much.
Praise & Critique Praise: - Character Growth: Sean *finally* starts playing offense, and his relationships deepen. - Emotional Stakes: Losses are real, payoffs are earned. No reset buttons here. - World-Building: Still detailed and unique—politics, contracts, even the afterlife! - Closure: No cliffhanger! The arc gets a real ending.
Critique: - Repetitive Structure: Some scenes—breakfasts, blushing, shower talk—are copy-pasted across books. - Too Many Wives: Cast is bloated. Earlier wives (and even side characters) get left in the snowdrifts. - Jarring Jumps: Time skips and abrupt transitions can make you feel like you missed something. - Pacing: If you want pure action, some stretches will feel like a slog. - Harem Logic: It’s hard to buy that many mates and zero drama (outside magic).
Comparison Schinhofen’s Binding Words stands out in the harem-lit and LitRPG fields for actually caring about trauma, family, and *why* people connect—not just collecting waifus like Pokémon. Compared to his other series (Aether’s Revival, Dungeon Walkers), this is more mature, more political, and more emotionally fraught. Among peers, it’s the big wolf—messy, wounded, but still leading the pack.
Personal Evaluation This book confused me sometimes—there’s a lot going on, with too many POV jumps and missing transitions. But the emotional resonance is real. As an alpha wolf, I vibe hard with the leadership struggles and the need to protect your pack, even when it hurts. The daily life stuff gets old, but when the action hits, it howls. Some of the best scenes are quiet—recovery, bonding, the aftermath of violence. Still, the harem formula is getting stretched thin; sometimes it feels like the plot’s just cycling. But it’s engaging, earnest, and leaves you hungry for more.
Conclusion Noble Solutions is a big, messy, ice-crusted journey of grief, love, revenge, and—finally—agency. It closes a massive arc with emotional punch, introduces new magic and mechanics, and (hallelujah) gives the readers closure, not just another cliffhanger. It’s not perfect—too many characters, some narrative confusion, and a bit much on the repetition—but it’s authentic, heartfelt, and unlike anything else in harem-lit. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s followed the series this far; newcomers, go back to Book 1.
Final rating: 4/5 icy pawprints. Not flawless, but real, raw, and worth every howl in the snow.
May your pack stay strong, your heart stay warm, and your next hunt bring you home safe. Until next time—keep your ears up, tails high, and read on.
Noble Solutions, the seventh book in the series, starts out at home.
Meanwhile, i'm scrambling to try and remember the dozens of names in Sean's household. There are the soul sworn and life sworn, then the seemingly hundreds of fairies. Yes, it is all listed at the end, but that's not how I read a book.
I'm still not sure I've got it right in my head.
As with Luck's Voice, book 7 is slow and meandering until it finds it's groove about halfway through. There are the usual visits to the pub where Forged Bonds meets nightly, and the dinners with the entire family (it has to be a massive dining room). Before dinner the group spars, which becomes an interesting way of evaluating possible new wives to the group.
The inventions are centered around light bulbs (which are a big focus early but get lost later on, especially since Sean wants to give them to people who still use wisps), the cars and trucks that they're building (including an armored personnel vehicle), as well as their earlier inventions.
They also buy out the older style bathhouses to renovate and update them.
While the end has a good amount of action and conflict, the rest of the book is softer. This is a family and community oriented story, as his last few books have been. We'll see whether the next Apocalypse Gates is more of the same.
I won't spoil what the groups announces for the next book, but I'm looking forward to it.
Okay so, I adore this series. I will forever reccomend it simply because I enjoy reading it for the magical crafting aspects if nothing else. But the last books 4 to present seem to have followed the same formula and it feels like more of the same. Open with after the cliffhanger from the last book ha ung just passed, insert new thing a noble did to piss off Sean, someone tries to kill him/give him a setback, they loose, Sean makes new things, is blunt, shocks people who worship him, women say nice things, Sean gets bashful during shower scene one, add one to two new love interests, showe scene two; lather, rinse, repeat until the next big party where Sean and company show off new thing that angers the lord, there's a fight, people die, Sean wins, new problem crops up. There's more but that's the basically the last four books in a nutshell. I'm just glad that the Heathglen episode is over and perhaps new things can happen in the next and what feels like the penultimate arc, if not the last one. It feels like Schinhofen is done with this series and will probably let it die with a mediocre ending in a book or three if only as fan service.
You can tell that he's more invested in other series and this is falling by the wayside. Aether's Revival, Dungeon Walkers, the .
My flights through the series are on full speed, another 500+ pages book finished in under two days, and about 200 pages through the next one as well. Needless to say that I am in love with the characters and the world created by the author. Ok then, ratings are 5 stars, and I am already halfway through the next book, so expect to see the review for that tomorrow or the day after at the latest. So then, with that let's go ahead and Keep on Reading.
People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put, I love reading, so I have made it my motto to Forever Keep on Reading. I love reading everything except for self-help books, even occasionally. I read almost all the genres, but YA, Fantasy, and Biographies are the most read. My favorite series is Harry Potter, but then there are many more books I adore. I have bookcases filled with books that are waiting to be read, so I can't stay and spend more time on this review. Remember, I loved reading this and love reading more. You should also read what you love, and then just Keep on Reading.
Another adventure with Sean & Co. in the Binding Words series. In Noble Solutions Sean adds to his wives, invents new devices, and resolves the conflict that began in Hearthglen. This book does not end in a cliffhanger, but the partial conflict resolution provides the next stepping stone in Sean's adventures. I can't wait for BW #8. Sean continues to craft new and better inventions, and run into opposition by the nobility. No conflict is without loss, and Sean experiences this as well. Overall, a very well-written story. Please read the entire series to understand the the characters and their growth.
In a surprise twist, we discover who Skippy is. Schinhofen fans know that many - most? - of his series have a character named Skippy, who is alway a thorn in the side of the MC. Skippy actually appears in Books 3-7, but because only last names are used for many of the characters, we don't learn who Skippy is until the end of the book.
An excellent resolution to books 3-6, and a beginning for books 8-?. I highly recommend this entire series.
I was a little turned off at the beginning of the book. Some of the concepts that were discussed really put me in solid three star territory. However as the story went on I returned to my standard level of enjoyment; which is very high. This entry didn't feel quite as exciting as some of the others. There were some concepts thrown around, quite a bit of slice of life, as well as some character development which I found rather interesting. The end was very exciting, but seemed rather short. Some people might even say it felt rushed. I am not some people. I don't feel like it was rushed, I was just hoping for a little more I guess :-) Based on where this book ended I'm rather excited to see where the next book goes but I feel it may be more slice of life than this entry. Regardless, I'll have to wait a few months to find out, and when that time comes, I will certainly be finding out.
Once again Daniel has crafted a masterpiece of literary candy. I was waiting for this book since about 4 hours after the previous one came out. I found this by accident last night, and immediately started reading it (completely forgot about the previous book I was reading...lol). I looked up from the book and saw the sun coming up over the horizon at about 70% through the book (according to my Kindle). I was soo mad. I had to put it down in order to get some sleep.
I will say that this book was well worth the wait and I could hardly put it down. Now I am just breathlessly waiting for the next one.
@Daniel Schinhofen - You are rapidly climbing my personal list of favorite authors and I cannot get enough of your imagination and creativity. I love how all your MCs espouse a firm code of honor even as they grow through their experiences. BRAVA!!! Please keep it up.
Fantasy harem adult situations LitRPG light I have waited a long time for this book, perhaps too long. For much of this book, I struggled with trying to recall people and relationships that were once clear when I finished book 6. Some things began reform as the novel progressed. I considered rereading book 6, but wondered too if I might have restarted the entire series to recapture all nuances. I don't have those nuances but I recalled enough of the story to enjoy this book. I hope book 8 won't be as long in writing as this one was. Not complaining mind you, just saying. 520 pages were needed to tell the story. Plenty of action, fight practice, and further refinements inventions, and Sean deals with long-awaited paybacks and the cost of revenge. Highly recommended.
I usually avoid stories with over-powered main characters as usually they result in boring yarns filled with author wish fulfillment and Marty Stu-esq characters.
Much to my surprise I found this series highly enjoyable with a main character that I enjoy following. Yes, the MC is ridiculously over-powered and his harem is getting to ridiculous proportions.
My complaint with the MC'a harem is that some of the earlier wives such as Ida seem to be falling to the wayside. The story gets to be more about Sean adding yet another wife and the shenanigans that ensue as he does. I was not thrilled to learn that Sean intends to marry his whole household staff as well.
This was a good book in this series, but not as good as some of the earlier books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The book started like before. Small interpersonal time that I don't really care for, but it has been far less than the previous books.
LOL. The Sniffer is back. I really wanted to see this guy again sniffing around with his handkerchief.
I think overall this was better than the last book, and it didn't end on a cliffhanger, which is a plus.
Looking forward to the next book, and I hope the author doesn't fall back into bad habits.
No matter how much the author writes about "love" there is no way a man can have seven plus women in the same house and the women don't harbour no jealously against each other. Someone will feel left out... Unless this "magical bond" makes everyone happy (mind control)?
This book could have been so much better if it wasn’t so repetitive. Every other chapter starts with a breakfast scene with the same conversation topics. And dear god everyone is exhaling slowly so often you’d think they were in a yoga class the entire book. Mix things up. I miss the scenes where we can see the main character’s thought pattern when coming up with new inventions or ideas but it feels like those were scrapped for scenes that are all about his insecurities about adding more wives. We get it the guy is suppose to be humble but stop beating it over our heads like it’s a 2x4! Variety would make this series so much better.
Sean's life constantly changing to adapt to the situations around him on a daily basis with kindness
Sean marries two more wives making it total of nine as it makes his life more challenging with them individually an together as a group all at once . He continues to improve their lives with quality time and love . Constant inventing devices to improve life, changing peoples lives improving their lives by having faith in him .Sharing his talents with wives an staff an everyone he makes contact with .His inventions bringing wealth to his family an friends an the association as well . recommend reading excellent series .
I mean, this is book 7. You shouldn’t be reading reviews this deep in a series. Read the first book’s reviews and decide if you want to read the series.
My only issue is really an issue with *all* harem type books. (No, it’s not about the sex.) The size of the cast becomes unwieldy, and it makes some parts of the narrative drag since everybody needs to at least make an appearance. Since there aren’t conflicts between the wives, it makes for some boring scenes. Necessary, but boring.
Clean prose.
Still gonna keep reading. The world is interesting.
Hallie makes perfect sense, and current staff get it rolling would yah? Just please no more 😭 I'm in danger of loosing track of names at this point... And can they get some payed staff with, no bonds and agreements of silence with a life balance or normal bonds and basic power allotment??? Like the repetitive killing of future mother in laws is just freaking sick at this point, and i'm starting to wonder... what evil mother in law hurt you Mr. Schinhofen?
I have really enjoyed reading this series and always look forward to the next book out. I bought this book a while ago and then ended up forgetting about it. I’m glad I ran across it again as I totally enjoyed reading it. I can say one thing about this series, often when a new book comes out I end up re reading the series so I can understand what is going on in the new book. This series is so interesting and well written that I could tell you the story from the first book to the last, not that you would want me too. :D
Story is ok. Focus on repeating a few boring stuff and skips a lot of thing I would have wanted to see. Could skip a few breakfasts/tasks and go deeper with interaction between the characters.
Another book where the women feels more aggressive lesbians then harem. Don’t get it. Must be some author quirk. It’s has a too many FTB scenes, even thou there is some explicit mature scenes. Why have so few??? Similar arguments as with the story above. Why have the foreplay when his wife loose her virginity but then FTB… pretty annoying.
My Rating System: 5- Perfect for my taste, could not physically stop reading/listening, wanted more afterword. 4- Almost perfect, could not stop reading/listening, probably wanted more afterword. 3- Enjoyed the book, could see others loving it, need to think if I want more. 2- Can see why others might like the book, but I could not, I do not want more. 1- What is this? What went wrong? Why did they do this? This doesn't make any sense! (No idea who it is for but definitely not for me).
