Bear and hare in the snow is a basic book with short sentences and it would be appropriate for reception children and year one beginner readers.

This is a really nice story to share with young readers in FS or Year 1, it has short sentences and children could apply their phonics with 'Hare' and 'Bear'. The story itself is enjoyable for young children as it's all about the fun Bear and Hare have in the snow, children might have done some of these activities like making snow angels and snowmen themselves which they could share.

what a lovely book about friendship between two animals, with lovely illustrations! I like the way Emily Gravett has used words that rhyme and have similar sounds to help with phonics.

I agree that this is a nice, simple book for story time. It is also a good introduction for those who are new and/or unsure about snow.

I love this author's books, and while this is not the author/illustrator at her most whimsical, it still has plenty of appeal and is sure to be read several times. Two friends, Bear and Hare, are thrilled when it starts to snow, but Bear gets tired of the fun more quickly than Hare. But Hare manages to find an activity that will get Bear excited once again. Young readers will be able to relate to the delight with which the snow is greeted and to the various ways the animals spend their day. I had to smile when looking at the illustration of Bear making an angel that looked like a trough in the snow. As always with this creator, readers will want to pay close attention to the eyes and facial expressions of the characters. The illustrations in this book, originally published in the United Kingdom, are created with pencil, watercolor, and wax crayons.

Emily Gravett is one of my favourite picture book authors/illustrators! I love the quirkiness of her stories and her illustrations are fun! That being said, however, Bear and Hare: Snow! is not one of my favourite of Gravett's books. Though I read it to my under-2's crowd, it would be best for toddlers.

These two friends open the door and “It’s snowing!” Hare loves snow, but bear isn’t so sure. Hare makes a perfect snow angel, but bear sinks down. Hare makes a small snowball, but Bear makes a huge one. Well, you see how this is going. But there is hope, and it comes at the top of a hill. Finally, Bear learns that snow can be fun. For the littlest ones, Emily Gravett uses her beautiful expressive illustrations to show the feelings and the fun between Bear & Hare.

The very first thing about this book that you will notice is the quality of the paper. The cardstock-feel makes you pay attention to the illustrations of the book. The snowflakes that appear in the book stand out against the background and against the characters, Bear and Hare. The plot is very simple, and tells us about how Bear and Hare enjoy the snow. This would be a great book to read to students who live in Arizona, because it would allow them to "experience" snow.

Hare loves the snow, but Bear just likes it. The friends make snowmen, and snow angels, but it's sledding that finally wins over Bear's heart.

Simple text that would be good for reading aloud with both toddlers and PreK set against pencil, watercolor, and wax crayon artwork.

I hope there are many more Bear and Hare books in the future!

This charming picture book would be great for young readers who can relate to all the fun things friends can do together on a snowy day. The two catch snowflakes on their tongues, make snow prints, snow angels, and so on. The lovely illustrations were rendered in pencil, watercolor, and wax crayons.

Although this offers nothing so new for the winter scene, it's just a darn awful cute book about 2 friends experiencing winter together. The text is brief - perfect for the younger crowd and the illustrations are perfect!

3.5 stars A cute book about bear and hare and snow. Since this is the most snow we have had a LONG time...this book is very close to home! I like the 2 feet of snow on the ground, but shoveling it...no thanks!

Really enjoyable book that is just right for 18 months. The story is simple with just the right amount of words and time spent on each page. The pictures are entertaining and give little readers something to talk about. We enjoyed watching as bear learned to like the snow more and more.

I prefer Gravett's books for older children, so while this is still a good picture book with wonderfully expressive artwork, it pales in comparison to her other amazing works.
