Ruby and Hudson are back and they haven't lost their passion for snooping around.

With a pressing pace, some twists and turns I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to solve the mystery and to get to the happy ending, assuming there's one.

On the days leading to Fen and Rob wedding Ruby and Hudson are committed to seeking around Rory, the groom's best man.

I enjoyed Ruby and Hudson easy friendship, you can feel there's something deeper, but they are scared to cross the fine line between attraction and affection. That drove me slightly crazy, but there is a third book for them where I hope they finally act on their feelings without any hesitation.

I liked this new Rosie Green work, I particularly love how she gets to make me involved into her stories every single time, with her easy words and flowing pace.
The characters of this series are now all friends that I love to meet again from time to time.

You can read The Wedding Cake wish as a standalone, but you're missing out if you don't go back at A Summer of Surprises and find out how Ruby and Hudson start their sleuthing together.

This is the seventeenth book in the Little Duck Pond Café series
And it is also the second in a trilogy of Ruby and Hudson mysteries!
There’s a missing best man who has disappeared
A wedding to plan and a mother to be feared.
On top of it all, there’s a cake to be sorted
And a possible romance with a new lady to be courted.

As Ruby and Hudson try to find the missing best man, Rory,
They learn more about his Mum’s history and her story.
Get ready for revenge, revelations and more
With a mix of tragedy, romance and someone who doesn’t know the score.
Will these two get together at last
Or be forced apart by someone from his late brother’s past?

Meanwhile her Mum is organising the wedding for Fen
But not listening to what she would like again and again.
Can Fen and Rob have the wedding of their dreams
As fate intervenes, pushing them apart it seems?
Whilst full of drama and mystery, too,
This is a fun read I highly recommend to you.

The story is told from two points of view
And I really enjoyed reading it - hope so will you!
Whilst clearly part of the series, it’s true,
I believe this book could be a standalone, too.
My thanks to Rosie Green and Rachel Gilbey, too,
For my copy of this book, this is my honest review.

Well this was the second standalone of the sub-trilogy of Ruby and Hudson cozy mysteries within the larger currently 17 book Little Duck Pond Cafe Series, which I have established after reading the reader note at the end. I'm rather impressed that Rosie Green is able to put a separate trilogy of a slightly diferent genre within the greater rom-comness of the Little Duck Pond Cafe series, while not losing any of the normal feel to the books.

For we have in alternating view points Ruby's story, and Fen, one of the original Little Duck Pond Cafe Girls, so we get the best of both worlds and it really does work.

Although what is driving me mad is the will they, won't they become a couple between Ruby and Hudson, even though they have a fabulous dynamic while working on their latest mystery.

And the reasons that Rory, best man disappears in the run up to the big day, are ones I would never have guessed in a million years, especially the main outcome from it.

And at the same time was see Fen wondering if the big day will go ahead, as Rob doesn't seem as keen as he should be, while Marjery, her mum is trying to make it the wedding of well Marjery's dreams and not Fen's. Which is tempering Fen's excitement quite a bit.

With a missing best man, a new character who seems taken with Hudson and has a hard to argue with connection to him, overwhelming wedding plans, the ice sculpture, and a whole lot more both parts of this book work well in tandem.

And I loved one of the get togethers in the run up to the big day, if it happens, where we get to see all the duck pond cafe girls together which is always great for long running fans of the series.

I loved this latest addition to Fen's story, and feel this book could like all the others easily be read as a standalone, but why miss out on what is such a fabulous series.

Another remarkable entry into this long running and always a favourite of mine series!

Thank you to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I loved the last book in this series that featured Ruby and Hudson so was over the moon to see that the latest in the series yet again focuses on these two characters.

It’s the lead up to Fen’s wedding day of which is a stressful enough time as it is, more so when you have a mum who wants the best for her daughter and is taking over Fen’s big day. On top of this, the best man goes missing. Cue Ruby and Hudson who recently joined forces as investigators. This really added a fun element into the previous book so was eager to see what the two would get up to in this one and it didn’t disappoint.

This was another jam packed book with lots of different threads which all run alongside each other and worked wonderfully. There was a ‘will they, won’t they’ vibe going on in the previous book with these two characters so I was keen to see if things would finally come together with the romance side of things. To see if they do, well you will have to read the book for yourself. Was delighted to see at the end that there is another book going to be coming out focusing on Ruby and Hudson and their cosy mysteries! Am so excited!!!

The Wedding Cake Wish exceeded my expectations and I am absolutely loving the characters of Ruby and Hudson and literally can’t get enough of them. This was such a wonderful read that is the prefect pick me up at any time of the year. You get all the aspects that you would expect to love from this genre and this made yet again for an entertaining yet heartfelt story that I read in one day. They are just too good to put down and I am so greedy when it comes to this authors books as I always devour them straight away and then am left eagerly awaiting the next one. Definitely one of my go to authors who I don’t even need to read the blurb of the book to know that I absolutely must read it!

My thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for the invite to be on the tour. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Another enthralling read from this wonderful series!

As Fen’s wedding day gets closer, excitement is in the air. The bride-to-be would like nothing more than a small, easy gathering of friends and family but her mother, Marjery, has other ideas – each one more outrageous than the last. When the best man goes missing, it’s one more thing to worry about and so Fen seeks help from Ruby and Hudson to try and track him down. But locating him is just the start of it as they find themselves getting pulled into a mystery; will this impact upon the wedding plans?

I love this series! It’s a joy to catch up with the many characters and find out what’s new in their lives. The introduction of Ruby and Hudson with their intrepid investigating skills brings a whole new angle and this is a skilfully crafted story with twists and turns along the way. Through each one of these tales runs the solid thread of friendship and this one is no different. Another gorgeous read, completely enthralling and so very enjoyable. I’m delighted to see there is another book on the way as this is such a good series to read. Absolutely earns all five glowing stars and my hearty recommendation.

What a cute little book! Book 17 in the series but the 2nd book in the trilogy of Hudson and Ruby.

Just love love loved this! I love this little side story with Hudson and Ruby investigating. Plus it was fab to see Fen again, and her mum. The storyline was very touching and sentimental that by the end I might have been getting the same cold Marjery was.

I have adored this series from the start and with so many characters there really is no danger of never having a character to read about. Still waiting for more of Jaz though.

If I had the chance, this would have been read in one sitting. I became obsessed with this story and was itching to get back to it as soon as I could. This is kudos to Rosie and her writing. She makes me feel this way about every book she writes. Just love them, have I said that already?

Another winner in my eyes and now I have another one to catch up on, yay me!

It’s lovely being back with the Little Duck Pond Cafe gang and with Ruby and Hudson again. The great mix of cosy mystery and romance is wonderfully written, and I thought the addition of the character of Amelia was a great side story. Looking forward to part three in the Ruby and Hudson show.

I have been a fan of Rosie’s work and particularly of ‘The Little Duck Pond Café’ series for a while now. I haven’t quite caught up with all the books in the series but I am slowly getting there. ‘The Wedding Cake Wish’ is the seventeenth book in the series and it’s a cracker. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Wedding Cake Wish’ but more about that in a bit.
The fact that Rosie’s name was on the cover of a book that I hadn’t read, was enough to grab my attention and the fact that it was another episode of ‘The Little Duck Pond Café’ series just sealed the deal as it were. I started reading and I just couldn’t stop. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I just couldn’t bear to miss a single second of this cracking story. I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough as I worked my way through the story. I always find that if I enjoy a book to the extent that I enjoyed this one then I tend to get far too involved in the story and that’s exactly what happened in this case. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘The Wedding Cake Wish’ and I had to say a temporary farewell to the characters. I found ‘The Wedding Cake Wish’ to be a fun and light hearted read, which kept my attention throughout.
‘The Wedding Cake Wish’ is superbly written. Rosie’s writing style is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Rosie’s books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. Rosie creates adorable characters and she clearly cares a great deal about them as this shines through in her writing. She describes the characters so realistically and vividly that they seem just as real as you and I. For me the story hit the ground running and maintained a fairly gentle pace throughout. I felt as though I was part of the story and that’s thanks to Rosie’s very vivid and realistic storytelling.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Wedding Cake Wish’ and I would definitely recommend this author, this book and this series to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Rosie’s work in the future. In fact bring on the next instalment of the series because I can’t flipping wait. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Rosie Green’s Little Duck Pond Café books are the literary equivalent of a cosy catch-up with friends over tea and cake and she is at her enchanting best with the latest title in the series, The Wedding Cake Wish.

With the big day fast approaching, Fen is counting down the hours until the wedding of her dreams. She simply cannot wait to walk down the aisle towards the man she hopes to spend the rest of her life with – even if her gut feeling is telling her that all isn’t quite well with her groom. Is it just her imagination? Has he got cold feet? Or is it just pre-wedding jitters? Fen has got enough to worry about; she certainly does not need any more stresses or complications, however, her mother Marjery doesn’t seem to have got that memo and her interfering and inability to listen to other people’s opinions could well end up causing problems for Fen.

The poor girl doesn’t know how much more she can take when more bad news comes knocking: the best man has gone missing! With time not on her side, Fen hires Hudson Holmes and Ruby Watkiss with the task of locating the missing member of her wedding party, but little does she realise that this quest is going to unearth plenty of shocking secrets and revelations that could end up having serious repercussions for everybody!

Will Fen get her dream wedding? Will the ceremony go ahead? And will a magical wedding cake save the day? One thing’s for certain, this wedding is going to be one the guests will certainly not forget in a hurry!

An adorable romantic read sprinkled with fun, mischief, mystery and intrigue, The Wedding Cake Wish is another triumph for Rosie Green who has written a comforting, feel-good and uplifting tale that will keep readers on the edge of their seats and completely gripped from start to finish. Full of characters readers cannot help but fall in love with, rib-tickling humour and warm-hearted emotion, with The Wedding Cake Wish, Rosie Green has outdone herself yet again – roll on the next title in the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved the previous book in this series, A Summer of Surprises, and was very excited to read the blurb and find that Ruby and Hudson feature strongly in this novel too.

This story, which can be read as a standalone, begins a few weeks before Fen and Rob's wedding. The action takes place away from the Little Duck Pond Cafe and alternates between Ruby and Fen's stories, with each narrating their own side.

Fen is concerned that the wedding which has been arranged is not at all what she had hoped for, but tells herself that she is happy to go along with it to please her mother, Marjery. However, when the best man, Rory, goes missing, and Rob seems to cool, Fen thinks he’s changed his mind about getting married. So the poor girl has quite a bit to worry about. Hoping that finding Rory will help to get her and Rob back on track, she asks Ruby and Hudson to find him. Their sleuthing uncovers some long-buried, and shocking secrets.

Ruby is attracted to Hudson, but keeps telling herself that he would not be interested in her. Hudson is saying nothing, but they do work very well together on so many levels. And that’s when the fly in the ointment, Amelia, turns up. Oh! I did not like her from the moment she appeared, but only half guessed what she was about.

I loved this cosy mystery wrapped up in a romcom mix of genres, which the author tells us at the end of the story is part of a trilogy. So I’m now very much looking forward to Book 18 in the Little Duck Pond Café series, Snow Falls Over Sunnybrook which is out in November.

This is such a good series and I loved picking up just where we left off with Ruby and Hudson, our resident Sherlock and Watson. We start this as they are embarking on their newest mystery, Rob’s best man Rory has gone missing and the countdown is on to find him before the wedding.

It’s not just a simple case though and soon Ruby and Hudson are jumping into the car to follow leads at every spare moment - this story definitely didn’t go the way I imagined though! Let alone when we are introduced to Amelia, Myles ex-girlfriend who’s still trying to come to terms with his death - is ex-girlfriend the right term here?
I was really hoping that this might be the book where Ruby and Hudson solved their own personal mystery but it really didn’t seem likely to happen, despite all the little titbits that Rosie kept giving us.

The whole reason behind this case is Fen and Ron’s impending nuptials, and they don’t seem to be going smoothly either. What with Fen’s mum Marjory taking over with every imaginable extravagance and Rob stressing over Rory, things are going from bad to worse. The only saving grace is that Ruby has agreed to make a chocolate fudge wedding cake for them - how amazing does that sound!!!

As we uncover the truth a few things come to light and there were many occasions where I found myself grinning along to the book. The ending is pretty special to - especially the location - I mean how perfect does that sound!!! Now if only we could get a few more Christmas wishes to come true to hey…

The Wedding Cake Wish is Book 17 in The Little Duck Pond Cafe, which I feel is one of the best uplifting, romantic series that I’ve read. Most of the instalments can be read as a standalone however, with The Wedding Cake Wish I do feel like it would help to read Book 16 (A Summer of Surprises) beforehand as you will learn about the newcomers to the area, Ruby and Hudson, who share an enthusiasm for solving a mystery. The Wedding Cake Wish follows on from the end of Book 16 when we discover Rory, bestman to Rob & Fen’s upcoming wedding, has gone missing. So our intrepid duo Ruby and Hudson have a new mission to track Rory down.

The book also follows Fen with her wedding preparations and things get a little out of hand and it all feels overwhelming for Fen. Fen’s anxiety level reaches fever point as she can’t understand why her fiance, Rob, is acting so aloof.

Author, Rosie Green, has created a fabulous pairing of Ruby and Hudson and their partnership blossoms when they have a mystery to solve as they often experience comical moments. However, another newcomer arrives and the friendship of this pair is put under pressure.

Trying to solve one mystery leads to another with a startling revelation for some in the village.

Once again, author Rosie Green, has written a wonderful, uplifting, romantic story that never fails to make you smile.

This clever little series has an extra twist. This is the third of a trilogy within the Little Duck Pond Cafe series which feature Hudson Holmes and Ruby Watkiss, who have turned out to be a pair of amateur sleuths. There is a lovely mingling of cosy crime with the romance of the Little Duck Pond characters. There are plenty of twists within this story and plenty to keep you hooked up to the end? Will Hudson and Ruby get together? I suspect we will have to wait and see! There is plenty of chemistry to be going on with.

Life for some of the other main characters is pretty hectic with Fen and Rob's wedding preparations taking over, much to their consternation. You get to find out quite a bit about Fen's family's past as the story progresses, with mother / daughter relationship centre stage. Written from the twin perspectives of Fen and Ruby, you are able to follow both their stories. Full of the warmth and uplifting tone of the rest of the series, this could be read as a standalone but frankly, I'd recommend reading the others to appreciate the whole Sunnybrook world!

In short: An entertaining and life- enhancing read!

The series that just keeps giving!! I cannot believe this is the 17th novella in The Little Duck Pond Cafe , and it still feels as fresh as Book 1!!

The build up to the wedding continues and, as you can imagine, it doesn’t run smoothly! When does it ever?! So there’s another case for Ruby and Hudson to solve and I love these characters together. They just work so well together and nothing seems to stop them on getting to the bottom of things!

And poor Fen should be looking forward to her wedding, but as introvert she is finding it all a little too overwhelming and spiralling out of control, mostly thanks to her mother who has somewhat taken over the planning and she doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of a quiet, intimate ceremony!

Full of wonderful characters and intriguing situations, it’s one of those stories that just grabs you from the get go and I’m already counting down the days until the next installment!!

I love cosy mystery, and I love the Little Duck Pond Cafe series, so it's great I can have both in one action-packed book. Fen is finally getting married, and whilst she longs for an intimate wedding, her mother has outrageously ambitious plans. There is tension in Fen and Rob's relationship, and the over-the-top wedding plans aren't helping. When the best man disappears, Fen asks Ruby and Hudson, who we met in A Summer of Surprises, to track him down. Told from Fen and Ruby's viewpoints, the reader enjoys a delightful rom-com and a cosy mystery, both of which are woven together at various points.

The story has drama and mystery as family secrets unfold and impact the forthcoming wedding. An unexpected visitor tests Ruby and Hudson's friendship, and the tension is palpable. Full of humour, and romance too, this is a lovely addition to the series.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

BOOK TOUR REVIEW VIA RACHEL'S RANDOM RESOURCES.

I wasn’t sure what to expect before reading this, but I thoroughly enjoyed the entertaining, light hearted read. I haven’t read any of the previous stories in this series, and this didn’t hinder my reading at all.

A great plot, averagely paced, filled with twists and turns, laughter and tears. Likable and engaging characters. I definitely recommend this and I’m intrigued to read more from the series and this author.

The mystery continues

I really like this story, my only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because I wanted it to finish a bit sooner, it drag on a little. I Am also struggling to remember the original storyline as we are now on book 17! (18 soon to be released).

I could compare this series to a favourite dish. You love it the way it is, but adding a bit of pepper or a pinch of salt or a bit of salsa can even make it taste more divine.

That's what the author did in the previous book. She added a drizzle of suspense and turned it into a cosy mystery, still with lots of love and friendship of course. It seems like she started a series within a series.

Ruby and Hudson are taking the lead in not one, not two but three books. Not forgetting the other characters we got to know quite well throughout the series. We still have to pleasure to look forward to a third cosy mystery and who knows what the author still has in store from book 19 on. :)

Put your party hat on, because we are invited to a wedding and keep your thinking cap handy too, because just like me I suppose you want to try to unravel the mystery too. ;)

Lots of lovely romances have started in Sunnybrook. Will the author add one more to the mix in the next book? I certainly hope so, because I thought my book was going to go up in flames due to the sparks flying between them. :)
Loved it. 5 stars

The wedding of your dreams, or not…

Ruby Watkiss and Hudson Holmes are joining forces again when Fen needs help after her fiancé’s best man is missing.
But the missing best man is not Fen’s only problem… while she dreams of an intimate wedding, her mother Marjery is taking over and is changing the wedding into Fen’s worst nightmare.
And then the love of her life Rob is going cold on her…
But why is Rory gone missing? The more Ruby and Hudson investigate, more is being revealed.
Can the wedding still be saved after everything? And when Myles’ ex - girlfriend Amelia appears on the scene, where will that leave the blooming romance between Ruby and Hudson?

I’m a rather new fan of the Little Duck Pond Café series. But even if I only jumped in late, I could not not love it!

Even if I don’t know how some love stories were born, all the couples are just so adorable. And that surely is also applicable for Fen and Rob!
Every couple should have the wedding they dream of, and I found it cute to see how these two were so aligned.
But with an interfering mother, and Fen finding it hard to stand her ground, I could see how that would put a strain on the otherwise perfect couple.
And when the best man also goes AWOL…

I have to admit, I just loooooove Ruby and Hudson! Despite what they have been through in the past, they now have found each other (unfortunately for us readers only as friends…) and they are not only great at investigating, but they also help each other in their more difficult moments.
There are so many sparks flying around, it’s just too much for my poor heart!

When Amelia enters the picture, my heart broke for Ruby… Of course I understood Hudson, having that link with his lost brother, but seeing how Amelia is claiming more and more of Hudson…

There is so much I can tell about this story, pinpointing all the things that made me love it. But that would mean giving a few spoilers and I just won’t do that. This is a story you have to completely discover and fall in love with yourself.

Two things truly stood out for me, while reading this next chapter… wonderful people are always the one struggling in realising just how amazing they are. This is both applicable for Ruby as for Fen. These women are women to be jealous of. They have kind hearts, are unselfish and just magnificent by being ‘just them’. So why cannot they see what is so obvious for evryone around them?

And a more negative thing that stood out… some people are just disgustingly nasty people… Instead of just being nice, they enjoy hurting people just for fun or for inexplicable reasons. I cannot grasp why people would do what some characters did in this story.
But do not fear… karma is a b*tch!

I’m stating the obvious when I say this was a wonderful read, with many mysteries, a lovely yet not always very smart in their investigations, couple with so much potential.
For a lot of readers it’s a lovely encounter with old friends, and for a few meeting new lovely characters.

How things ended in this second chapter surely left me longing for the next part, with the conclusion having not only my fingers crossed, but all parts that are ‘crossable’.
I loved this mix of romance and mystery, it left me a few times surprised as some twists I absolutely didn’t see coming.
But the romance parts truly did warm my heart and I was again amazed by the wonderful writing of this author!
