When the movie star renting Maggie's house is accused of murder, she's the only one who believes he's innocent. Now all she has to do is prove it.
Maggie McJasper is starting over in a little California beach town. She has a bead shop, a nice circle of friends, and a handsome movie star who keeps flirting with her. Life would be pretty great if she could just stop stumbling over dead bodies….
Do you like dogs, crafts, quirky friends, a slow-building romance between grownups who genuinely like each other, and a twisty little mystery with red herrings galore? Then this is for you. The Maggie & Jasper Capers are fun and flirty cozies, with no swearing or love scenes, and no gruesome violence to keep you up at night.
This book was originally published as "Maggie and the Empty Noose" in the Carita Cove Cozy series.
Poor Reese. I could not put this book down as I had to know who was behind this murder. Likable characters who are developing so well that I feel like they have become friends. I am having a lot of fun reading this cozies.
I don't read mystery stories, as I don't care for that genre, but this one was a free book, and it sounded interesting. It did not really get my attention. It was nice in that it did not portray all sorts of violence, and had a cool dog that kept the story on a more fun and less intense level. The heroine in the story was good, the main male character did not appeal to me. Overall, if you like reading light mysteries with happy endings, you may like The Empty Noose.
Maggie and Harper have can exciting adventure, proving Reese did not murder his ex - girlfriend and mother of his 14 year old son, Shane, while on drugs! Really tense story with no levity as the investigation brings up the past history of his beginning with his boyhood rock band and their struggle with fame, drugs, liquor, and addiction!
I really like this author! Her characters are always interesting and believable, as are her storylines. The fact that her stories do not include a great deal of violence and sex makes her stories much more enjoyable.
I enjoyed this book - a very easy read, it took me 3 days to get through! I really like Maggie, her dog is just adorable ( I have a border collie myself -and I love her!) And Reese, I have a major crush on him! ( I keep seeing Chris Evans as Reese ) Anyway, I love this series - and am currently reading the next book. But this mystery is about Reese who is found in his bed with a dead woman, and he has drugs in his system. Maggie does not believe he did it and goes about to clear his name.
