I'm not young, so coming across a mfc who is around my age is always a fantastic surprise. When the mmc is also up there in years, even better! Accidental Acquisition has both main characters "over the hill" and both know what they want in their lives. The immature hesitancy isn't an issue for either, and the issues that are there are valid ones.
I know this is vague but I hate spoiling the story for others, just know that you must read this book! It's really that great!

Evangeline Anderson often picks ordinary places for her hero and heroine to meet, but never before in a grocery store! After the end of a very bad marriage, Jillian, our heroine, becomes the Executive Chef at a Kindred Restaurant on the Mother Ship. Having had the same job on Earth in Las Vegas, until her cheating, lying ex ruined it, Jillian is lonely but contented. Once a week she goes shopping for the ingredients for the dishes in the restaurant. But her shopping takes place on another planet. And this time she needs a special ingredient for an important dinner dish to be served at a private Kindred negotiation. Only one vendor carries it, and that’s where the trouble starts.
Before that one day is over, Jullian meets the hero Kalis, who is owned by a Mistress from Yonnie Six. The best bargain ever
Every now and again I find a book that just captivate me and make me laugh out loud. This is one of those books! Each tale of the Kindred is new and exciting, but this one stands above the rest. It’s a true case of going to the store for one thing and walking out with fifty. The author made the perfect situation for these two to meet, and I love the way their relationship evolved from there. She kept the fun and heat to the story, with enough danger to keep me glued to the edge of my seat. I was so worried that they wouldn’t get there HEA, but I should have known the author wouldn’t leave me hanging. This book is a fantastic read, perfect for the weekend.

I really loved this edition to the Kindred Brides universe. The main characters are older so it was easier to relate as a reader. Plus this Kindred is a rarely seen type, a shifter. The author has introduced them before in a galaxy far away showing just how far the Kindred have travelled. One of the best things about this book: ALIEN NAMES!!!! Very tongue in cheek and good for a laugh. Read the book and get immersed in the female worshipping Kindred. What type will be your favorite? Beast, Blood, Twin? Check them all out. Happy reading.

Another great story
As alway Evangeline Anderson comes threw again. I love the way she writes a story in such that you can almost picture the scene as real life.
The sex scenes are just icing on the cake.

Who knew a trip to the market could end up with an accidental acquisition? Jillian is a chef and while shopping for some unique ingredients will find out the galaxy isn’t safe. She will also meet when large Kindred that will scare her and attract her. There will be danger with twists that only shopping on an alien planet could happen at. The tension does heat up but the past may rune it all.

Loved Kalis but really wanted to knock some sense into Jillian. For a woman that believed in giving people a second chance, she was seriously adverse to applying that philosophy to Kalis and his Ursus. I really liked the plot of this story. Kalis was everything a Kindred warrior should be. Jillian was good until she met the Ursus, then she kind of turned into a whiney wuss. I understand trama and how is sometimes affects people but I felt Jillian needed to grow a backbone and not paint every living thing with the same paint brush from her past.
Overall, I think Kalis' character kept me fascinated and interested in the book (so much that I could get past Jillian). I would recommend reading this book.

At first she tries to return him but unfortunately she cannot.
They run into some problem when a trollox tries to take her.
Kallis gets her back at any cost.
Jillian seems to deny her feelings towards Kallis but there is no denying that she does feel something for him even though she is scared of his beast.
In the end love always prevails and they end up getting together.

A wonderful addition to Kindred Tales, riveting and great characters and plot
Jillian had been to a market to simply buy ingredients and had actually came home with a very large Kindred warrior known as Kalis who by his very nature wants to ensure that he keeps her safe, to care and protect her in the way only a Kindred is able.
Jillian is a chef who loves her job and takes her food very serious as it is very important that her food bring pleasure and enjoyment to her clients, she had not expected to also find a Kindred warrior a beautiful hunk who wants to do whatever it takes to keep her safe and sound.
When Kalis finds himself held prisoner to fight in the Blood Circuit and had been trapped all through his early life, now in his fifties he has been dreaming of finding his special mate and now that he has seen Jillian, he knows that she is that woman.
However, Kallis has another side of himself that he guards closely and when he is threatened or someone, he cares for is he is able to alter his form. This is a wonderful story and I know that you will enjoy it as much as myself.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

This story was so fabulous and exciting to read. Jillian is a chef on the Kindred Mother Ship. She makes frequent trips to another planet to purchase special dinner items for important dinner guests. There she met a Vonnie Six mistress who has the particular special seasoning she needs and who is desperate to get rid of her body slave Kalis so she tricks Jillian into buying him too. Kalis has the ability to change into a huge grizzly bear type creature and Jillian is deathly afraid of his other side when he changes in order to rescue her from a Trollox who wants to cut her up into body parts to sell. I could not put this book down. This author's imagination, character names and descriptions are awesome.

Love, love, love that this is a middle aged couple! What could go wrong when Jillian finds that she has purchased a body slave, Kalis, while shopping for groceries on an alien planet? Then to find out that the body slave is a Kindred who has been dreaming about her for two years. Jillian and Kalis have both been through previous relationships and hardships that have shaped their life. This story moves quickly from one impossible and crazy situation to the next. It will keep you turning the page to find out what happens next. Jillian and Kalis are sweet couple and you will be hoping for their happy ending. I was chuckling from the beginning with this one. Working in a Uni Library I feel I need to tell our acquisitions department that the bar has been raised.
Jillian is a chef, approaching 50, her younger years spent chasing her career and her 40s with a con artist. Broke and losing everything an old friend offers her a job on the Mother Ship with the Kindred. Her trip to the alien market was an adventure and then some.
Kalis, a former prisoner and slave has been dream sharing with her, only he has a huge secret and she's going to be terrified.
I think you'll love this book, I was a fast read as I couldn't put it down. Plenty of action and heart stopping moments. Glad to say my lunch was finished when I got the ewwww part. A great romance with plenty of fun and yet danger, I loved every moment.

Action, Suspense, Danger and Hot Sex
The characters are engaging. Kalis, a B'Varren Kindred, combines the best of the Kindred with the fierceness of a shifter. Jillian is a human chef with a fear of fierce animals. How can they possibly be mates? Only the Goddess knows. Action, Suspense, Danger and Hot Sex galore. Enjoy!

OMG, WOW! Loved this Book!
I could not put this book down for it was simply exceptional. The spice and chemistry was beyond off the charts with passion. I loved the twists in the story and how the characters came to life off of pages. This book is a definite must read with a guaranteed HEA!

I have to say another wonderful addition to the Kindred series. I'm not surprised either as they never disappoint. Just know that this is a wonderful story and I know that you will enjoy it as much as I did. Can't wait for the next book in this series. I loved that this particular Kindred tale featured an older couple! Jillian is a strong and independent chef working on the Mother Ship who ends up “acquiring” Kalis, a Kindred body slave who is also able to transform into a giant bear. I loved that while Kalis has a heart for service, he is no doormat and that they complement each other’s strengths so well. A fun story!

The characters are interesting. This is a different breed of Kindred all together and it makes for a good story. The storyline is also interesting, it’s a mixture of several others that give it originality and keeps you entertained.

Jillian and Kalis connections and chemistry is unmatched. Of course there some obstacles the pair must overcome to get to their happy ending. Kindred novels continue to grip my attention and I'm always sad when the story over. This book was by far going into my favorites reads list.

ugh, this heroine….
I am always up for a kindred read. Evangeline Anderson’s books are a literal one click for me, I don’t even need to read the synopsis. But I must say, the heroine of this book kind of piss me off.
***Spoilers ahead****
I believe that her reaction to Caillous was completely disproportionate to the events that took place. This man got his hand cut off for her and she was so cold and distant and Kurt with him. I just felt as though the way she treated him in proportion to his immediate devotion and caring of her left a sour taste in my mouth.
When coming to the part of her needing to bond with his “Ursus“, I felt like it was hard to empathize with her “trauma “. Which was the primary component that lead her to have such difficulty taming Kalis’ Ursus.
Her inadequate response and reaction to his blinding devotion and unparalleled attachment to her on top of her cold way of treating him and her indifferent behavior towards him at times, when in a single day this man saved her from being molested, kidnapped and killed-it just really contributed vastly to my dislike of her character and temperament. But I guess in the end of the day you can’t like all the characters and at some point out of 50+ books eventually the writer isn’t always going to write a character I can relate or resonate with. (Although this clearly isn’t the first time she has written a character I disliked) its the first time I really felt the need to speak about it.

I liked this one better than the last EA book I had read, Submitting to the Shadow, which I had read right before this book. What's crazy is that now I want to read another EA Kindred book... What hold does this woman have over me? Lol.
For those who like older characters, Jillian's 49 and Kalis seemed to be a bit older. (It's funny because that had me Googling romance novels with heroines under 17.)
I appreciated the heroine not being from Florida, but I also wish the formula had varied a little more. I couldn't see Jillian as plus size, and it would be nice to read a Kindred book where they have penetrative sex--doesn't need to be bonding sex--before the last chapter.
Jillian's a chef working on the Kindred Mother Ship. She accidentally buys Kalis, a Kindred bodyslave, at a market when she's looking for an unusual ingredient for a special ambassador to the Mother Ship. I didn't get why Jillian was so stubborn about owning Kalis--she could have taken him to the Mother Ship, said hey, look this guy's a Kindred, let him live here--but it did make for a more interesting plot.
I applaud EA for taking some daring choices. A few readers who can't handle violence might have a hard time with those scenes, though.
I wasn't sure how EA was going to write a big climax, but she delivered, though now I'm realizing nearly all the climaxes of her stories are girl-gets-in-trouble and needs-to-be-rescued-by Kindred.
It was kind of funny how Jillian showed gladiator (I don't think it was the "Gladiator", but a gladiator movie) since I had finished watching that movie on the plane recently.
Even though all the books follow a similar formula, I'm still dreaming of reading my next Kindred Tales book. I've thought this before, but I specifically did think it just now while finishing the book, how I'll be sad when her "The End?" with the answer "Of course not" changes to "The End". As in I'll be sad when she finally ends the series (or sorry to say it, but dies and so that's her last Kindred book).

I appreciated the heroine not being from Florida, but I also wish the formula had varied a little more. I couldn't see Jillian as plus size, and it would be nice to read a Kindred book where they have penetrative sex--doesn't need to be bonding sex--before the last chapter.
Jillian's a chef working on the Kindred Mother Ship. She accidentally buys Kalis, a Kindred bodyslave, at a market when she's looking for an unusual ingredient for a special ambassador to the Mother Ship. I didn't get why Jillian was so stubborn about owning Kalis--she could have taken him to the Mother Ship, said hey, look this guy's a Kindred, let him live here--but it did make for a more interesting plot.
I applaud EA for taking some daring choices. A few readers who can't handle violence might have a hard time with those scenes, though.
I wasn't sure how EA was going to write a big climax, but she delivered, though now I'm realizing nearly all the climaxes of her stories are girl-gets-in-trouble and needs-to-be-rescued-by Kindred.
It was kind of funny how Jillian showed gladiator (I don't think it was the "Gladiator", but a gladiator movie) since I had finished watching that movie on the plane recently.
Even though all the books follow a similar formula, I'm still dreaming of reading my next Kindred Tales book. I've thought this before, but I specifically did think it just now while finishing the book, how I'll be sad when her "The End?" with the answer "Of course not" changes to "The End". As in I'll be sad when she finally ends the series (or sorry to say it, but dies and so that's her last Kindred book).

Accidental Acquisition: Kindred Tales 35 - Evangeline Anderson
An original very imaginative new Kindred Tales that is extra fun when it involves a human working on the Kindred mothership.
JIllian is working as an executive chef at a special restaurant on the mothership, which conveniently lets her escape her horrible ex-husband.
She tries to cater to her unique clientele by getting ingredients for many alien recipes at a special market on a distant planet. The kindred mothership arranges for her to have a fail safe trip through space folds to get to this market. Jillian wants to impress an important visiting dignitary and goes to the market to buy the special ingredients needed for the recipe.
At the market she finds the ingredients at a booth owned by one of the mistresses from Yonnie 6. The mistress insists she has bought a huge Kindred warrior that came as a package deal with the items she needed.
Kalis is a Kindred who is also a shifter and turns into a bear when provoked. He was fighting in the Blood Circuit then served as a guard for the mistress. Now he is in his fifties and realizes he has been bought by the female he has been dreamsharing with, which makes her his mate.
This story has many twists, turns and surprises which adds to the excitement keeps readers glued to the pages. It was awesome that the main characters are both a bit more mature and helps prove that love, and exciting journeys can happen at all ages.

Accidental acquisition is number 35 in the Brides of Kindred world by Evangeline Anderson. If you haven’t had a chance to read one of her stories by now, what are you waiting for? Each book is a masterpiece that allows you to feel as if you are really part of the world.
This instalment surrounds Jillian. Originally from Earth, Jillian now lives aboard the mothership and spends everyday cooking up a storm at her restaurant. She has been tasked to cater for a special VIP dinner which requires her to visit the market. Visiting the market is an errand that Jillian is used to making on a weekly basis, but this visit proves life changing.
Kalis is a B’varren Kindred. Sexy, for sure. Loyal, undoubtedly. Protective, no question. B’varren Kindred are unique. They have a second identity deep within, an enormous Ursus that most people find to deadly to go against and has stopped him ever allowing himself to bond. To bond, it requires his true love to be able to see past the dangerous beast within and tame it.
Imagine all the details above and just for fun throw in a kidnapping, a lying ex, hot chemistry, a shady market salesperson and a Trollox you have a truly riveting storyline. Well done, Evangeline!

I absolutely loved everything about this story accept the heroine Jillian and that's a shame because I wanted to love her. When I realized that Jillian was na older woman about to turn 50 I was thrilled that she would be finding a soul mate among the kindred. I'm almost as old as she is and it was awesome to read about someone in your age group finding the love of their life. That is until I started to meet her. I really thought the whole accidental buying thing would be funny, sexy and a bit adventurous. Kalis was fantastic! I loved him older, sexy, gentle, loving and still a strong alpha. He's one of my favorite male heros, he deserved more. Jillian had some last experiences that made her color every decision she made. She had also been living in the mothership for almost 2 years and never really took the time to understand the kindred and the go don't process. She also spent a lot of time whining. I usua!my love this books to death, this time I have to say I love the story, I love the age of the characters I adored the male hero, but I'll take a pass on the female heroine. Kalis deserved better!💖💖
