She’s the preacher’s daughter and she’s off limits.
I’m an over-the-top, obsessed cowboy.
I can lasso wild horses, loose cows and the orneriest of bulls...
but I can’t seem to catch the curvy Janie Bradshaw.

She’s too young and she’s way too good for the likes of this ol’ cowboy, but I can’t stop thinking about her. She has more curves than some men would know what to do with. But not me. No, I dream of those curves... having my hands on them, my lips on them and holding onto them while I...
Damn.

I’m obsessed with her... but I shouldn’t be. I thought we could try and be friends, but that made her think she could dance with another man.

It’s time to take matters into my own hands. I may not be worthy of the curvy, beautiful Janie, but I’ll do whatever it takes to make her mine.

If you love stories where the plus size woman gets the hot, possessive guy... if you love reading insta-love, age gap and alpha-takes-all small-town romance, then you’ll love Carter and Janie’s story.

"Obsessed Cowboy" is the story of Janie and Carter.

A lonely cowboy disillusioned by his first failed marriage meets the sweet innocent preacher's daughter, and falls for her. She wants much more in life than he can give her, so he tries to be "friends" with her- fails when she tries to move on and then marries her. They have a hurried confession, and the book ends in a quick epilogue.

I enjoyed the unexpected angst in the book- but the ending was too rushed and so was the epilogue. He never really did open up lol.

4 - "You're perfect... just the way you are." Stars!

Another great read from Hope Ford, this time as part of a multi-author series. The OMYW trope is in play with this one, and just to add to the slightly forbidden nature, Carter Grant has to go and fall for the preachers daughter; Janie Bradshaw.

I don't dare take my eyes off her. I knew it would be like this... It wasn't a fluke, a crush, or a simple attraction. This is a gut punchin', heart thumping, got to have her temptation...

Short, sweet and sexy, with likeable characters and a great locale. I really like Whiskey Run and hope to visit many more times in the future!

Well shit, I wanted so bad to love this book. Their scene at the end of Savage Ink series had me so ready for this book. I mean there is nothing better than a possessive cowboy. But, all of these books seem to be falling just a little short for me. And I finally figured out what it is. The heroes.....so far most of these heroes are just kinda blah. They don't have any confidence in the relationships. They have shit from their pasts that makes these insecure in relationships. The heroines are all in, but the heroes just keep leaving them "because they deserve better".

Its just not my style. I need OTT alpha. I love me some insta-love novellas where my hero is all "I'm going to marry this girl" from the first look and never doubts it for a second. And I'm just not getting it here. They might say the words, but their actions do not.

This of course is making me so sad, because I love everything else about these stories. Anyone who wants a super sweet book with a "normal hero" and not a kinda crazy OTT alpha will love these books. They really are happy books. I'm just in need of that crazy OTT alpha.

Enjoy My Friends….

“You need this, don’t you, baby? You don’t just want it, you need it.” She mewls low in her throat. “Yes.”

Finally! I’m not sure how long I’ve been waiting for Carter and Janie’s story but it’s been at least for the last few Whiskey Run books. The teases that Hope Ford leaves us really grabs me and makes me not be able to wait for the next read.

I’m glad to finally see their story play out in full. It was just as sweet and sexy as I thought it would be. A definite must read.

I’m sorry but I didn’t like the Hero at all,
Lately, Hope Ford’s heroes are too much hesitant for my taste but this one is specially crude with her at the beginning,
It starts with instalove, I love that, but then, they have an incredibly awkward conversation about his past, it’s very uncomfortable to read,
From that scene, I couldn’t connect with them at all,
I liked her very much, she is determined and always straight with him, he is not with her,
Sorry…

It would've been better if the heroine wasn't such a bland Mary Sue with zero interests, zero ambitions and zero personality.

I did like Carter, true.
But Janie and her sweet honey channel were definitely not my cuppa.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
3 stars

I was sad to say I didn’t feel the connection between Carter and Janie. It was built up in previous Whiskey Run books so it seemed their relationship was longer than depicted in their own book. I felt the love Janie had for Carter but I felt like he just felt lust for her. Then he confuses her with his hot and cold, pushing away, friends with just kissing benefits.
Carter sees Janie at the local Co-op for the first time and is instantly in lust, he goes over to talk to her and overwhelms her. She is the daughter of the town preacher and is very naive and trusting and is surprised by the attention from an older very handsome man. She’s a curvy woman and can’t understand what he sees in her. He can’t stop thinking of her and goes to church on Sunday to see her. Janie gets jealous because another woman tries to get his attention, but he does shut it down. What I didn’t understand was why he tells her he sleeps around, and does he really, not sure. Did he tell her that so she would not be serious about him? Carter wanted to have sex with her but held back because she was a virgin and he didn’t want to marry again, or hurt her? (His wife left him) But when someone else shows interest in her he lies to her and pretty much says she has to marry him to protect his reputation as a rancher. She loves him so she marries him. Wedding night starts off bad until she says she loves him, then he’s all in and they have their first time together. Epilogue two years later with a son.

Tropes:
- cowboy
- pastors daughter
- age gap
- small town
- insta love

The hot older cowboy that is kind of scared to love after getting his heart broken and the younger preachers daughter that just wants love and a family. Carter is hesitant if he is capable of settling down, but Janie is so sweet and his resolve crumbles bit by bit. A sweet, safe (too much mentioning of the ex-wife but that's just my taste😉🤷‍♀️), romantic with a sweet HEA😍😍😍

Beautifully good

Carter meets Janie an immediately feels a special connection to her but he has ghosts from his past that prevent him from moving forward with his feelings, until he learns from a misunderstanding that he could lose if he snoozes. Carter knows the moment he locks eyes on Janie and her curves he will be obsessed with all of her. He knows he isn't good enough for her but can he get over those feelings and let love guide his way?

Has the cynical cowboy found a woman he can finally trust?

While this is part of a multi-author spin-off series, it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. However, for maximum reader satisfaction, I recommend the Whiskey Run stories be read in publication date. Within a few of them are some reoccurring scenes and characters, including the town matchmaker and diner owner, Violet. These are completed from different POVs, but help make for a more complete picture of the town and its residents.

** If you have not read the story, the following may contain spoilers. **

These have been very fast reads, with a surprising amount of detail built in. I am loving the continuity of this series and the ‘matchmaker’ angle with Violet, although not as involved in this story, she still has a presence. Hopefully one of these stories will include a recipe for her famous cake.

I couldn’t give this 5 stars because I found the storyline a little muddled. Carter is an experienced man, that has been married. He is starting a ranch, building a business, and has worked for the same family since he was 15. His mother and ex-wife may have messed him up, but he understands commitment and loyalty. So I struggled with the whole let’s be ‘friends’ angle, because he doesn’t know if he can trust, etc., etc.

I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There were only a few grammatical issues, such as missing words, incorrect punctuation and extra inserted words. There is also an inconsistency with one of the supporting characters’ names. It could be a typo, or just Carter using the shortened version of his name. It just seems more like a typo imo because of the way it was written into the story. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.

⛔️ Contains scenes that may be a trigger or offensive for sensitive readers. These include adult language, mental health challenges with anxiety, adult intimate scenes, and mental abuse of a child, child abandonment, etc.

BLURB:

She’s the preacher’s daughter and she’s off limits.
I’m an over-the-top, obsessed cowboy.

1.5⭐️

This is the first book I have read in this series or by this author. I liked the idea behind this book but it just didn’t hit right for me.

- cowboy
- pastors daughter
- age gap
- small town
- insta love

Our two leads are Janie and Carter, she has just moved back to town after graduation. He is busy making his dream of owning a ranch come true. One look at each other and they want more…

Janie the town sweetheart, that everyone cares about. She is sweet, naive in a way, inexperienced and beautiful inside & out. She shouldn’t want someone like him, older, knows what he wants but she can’t get him out of her mind.

Carter the cowboy that everyone knows, he injured himself and now they all talk about him. True it is a small town that’s to be expected. He knows it’s wrong to want her but he hasn’t ever felt something this strong before and he can’t deny this need to have her and make her his.

I know it’s hard to have real character or relationship development in a book that’s so short, but it was really lacking that.

I feel like the way he went around getting married was just not necessary to lie to her, and it just shows how naive she really is.

One minute it’s saying that Carter hasn’t been with anyone for awhile and then the next he’s ‘been around’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

All while little miss V Janie is falling hopelessly in love..

True he definitely wants her too.

Just wasn’t for me. I seen the words obsessed cowboy and went in blind cause well you know ^^

This is a story about overcoming your fears and opening yourself up to love. Carter and Janie couldn't be more different but yet they're perfect for each other. Carter is a rancher who used to be big in the rodeo circuit until an injury ended his rodeo career forcing him to focus only on ranching. He buys some land and is working on making a fresh start. Janie is the preacher's daughter just home from college and looking to find a job. She runs into Carter at the Whiskey Run Co-op and the sparks fly. Carter thinks he's too old and broken for her and Janie doesn't think she's the kind of girl who can hold his interest since she's not as modern as everyone else being the preacher's daughter. There's also an age difference between them so Carter tells her they'll start off friends even though he wants to kiss her and do quite a bit more. Janie wants more too but everyone is telling her that Carter might not be the settling down type of guy even her dad said so and he likes Carter. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. I will say that you need to go on Carter and Janie's journey it was done beautifully. I can't recommend this book highly enough and I'm looking forward to the next book in the Cowboys Love Curves series.

Carter and Janie's story was frustrating. Carter was older and wanted Janie but because he was burned in the past he didn't think he would be able to commit to marriage and also didn't think he had enough to offer her. Janie is home from college and helping her dad at his church until she finds a job. What Janie really wants is marriage and to be able to stay home to take care of her family. Carter starts to pursue her then pulls back but then decides they can be friends, kissing friends. Janie is already confused by Carter and her new found desires so she wants to be kissing friends, even though she knows Carter is not the marrying kind. About the time Janie's heart is breaking is when Carter realizes all that he could have with her. He just needs to convince Janie that he's all in.

I could understand Carter's hesitation, given his past but I didn't like how he hurt Janie because he couldn't see what he could have with her. Janie was very naïve about men and relationships so her confusion and heartbreak was genuine. But once they got back on the same page they had a great future ahead of them.

This is a sweet little instalove they had a bit more angst than I was expecting. The H, Carter Grant is in his mid-30s, he’s divorced and a bit jaded and lonely. He’s working on fixing up a ranch for himself.

He meets the town sweetheart, Janie Bradshaw, fresh back from college. She’s literally the preacher’s daughter. It feels like everyone in the town discourages their interest in each other. Carter is a bit of a brooder and Janie wears her heart on her sleeve.

There was a surprising amount of angst for instalove. Carter is determined though. He’s all in for Janie and willing to do whatever he has to do to have her.

Story 4/5, Heat 1.5/5, Angst 2.5/5

Slooooooow burn, they wait until their married. There is some foreplay around 65% but they don’t get it on until 90%

No condoms, virgin h, Hs past is a bit vague but I don’t think he was exactly a manwhore, age gap, there is push away from both at different times, he doesn’t feel good enough for her and she’s just young. Tiny, insignificant OW drama, a bit of OM drama to showcase his j/p tendency, there’s a small bit of separation. No cheating, no cliffhanger and HEA with epilogue. I’d consider this a safe read.

Nice quick read. A nice and fast HEA!

Carter meets Janie when they are both at the co-op. Carter wants to get to know all about Janie but realize she maybe a little too young for him. Carter can't stop thinking about Janie when he ends up at church where Janie is playing the piano and singing. Afterwards there is a potluck where everyone is invited. While the "welcoming committee" gets a hold of Carter, Janie is serving up pie. While Carter can't keeps his eyes off Janie and the flirting that is happening, all he wants to do is talk to Janie. Carter tells Janie all they can be is "friends" so Janie decides to go out to a bar, not to drink but to flirt. When Carter finds out he goes after Janie and throws her over his shoulder, takes her back to her house and tells her he needs to talk to her father. Carter tells Paster Blake he wants to marry his daughter, that someday he hopes to be the man she wants. Carter and Janie are married a few days later. Two years later the Ranch is finished and they both get their HEA!

I felt this book, especially the ending was very rushed. I feel some more detail could have gone into their wedding night, the building of their ranch and the few years in between.

This next book in the Whiskey Run: Cowboys Love Curves series is a quick, don't want to put down read.

There's a scene at the end of Rigid, a Whiskey Run: Savage Ink that I wanted to know if it would be written about and if so what book!! Luckily it tells you at the end, I've been wanting to read this one!!

Janie is the preacher's daughter, just graduated from college and home applying for jobs. The meet-cute is at the local co-op with Carter.

Carter's a rancher at Yates Ranch and is building a house getting ready to start his own ranch training horses, when he sees Janie at the co-op.

This is a wonderful read with lots of sweet and some heat. I enjoyed it thoroughly and highly recommend it.

I've only read this and Rigid from all of the Whiskey Run series, even though there are cross-overs you don't need to read them all in order to read and enjoy any other. Which I love! No cliffhangers and all stand alones.

“Obsessed Cowboy” by Hope Ford is part of the multi-author series ‘Whiskey Run: Cowboys Love Curves.’ Carter is a divorced 35-year-old man whose wife walked out on him for extremely shallow reasons. He’s a hard-working guy, diligently trying to secure a stable future. Janie is the virginal 22-year-old daughter of the local preacher. She recently moved home from college and is trying to find her path in life. Carter and Janie both have insecurities about themselves, although for very different reasons. When they meet, they each experience sparks of instalust and instalove, which shock them both.

This is a short story, and it moves very quickly. There is some minimal angst, but it has huge consequences. It’s a sweet story with a couple of steamy scenes.

i was able to enjoy an ARC copy of this book. There was a little glitch about the name of a secondary character that hopefully will be sorted out before publication.

They may seem like they are complete opposite but deep down they want the same things, only if Carter can get passed his pass can he have a future. Janie has returned to tow, her dream is to be a wife, and a mom, but went to college it was expected of her. When Carter saw her at the Co-op he knew she was his, but that she could also do better. Every one in town thought they knew him and said he was not the settling down kind, but maybe he is.

Obsessed Cowboy is a hot and extremely passionate romance that will have you lost in the page with each turn. Carter has been hurt, he has a huge heart and wants someone to love, but is afraid. When he sees Janie, what his heart wants and he head said is a war. That it take the town gossip to get him to set up on get what he wants. Another great story with heart, pain and love that you will to want put down.

3.5 Stars Good.
Much like the other books in the Whiskey Run storyline, there is instant attraction, sweetness and steam. Carter and Janie meet by accident and have an immediate attraction for each other. He is jaded by his past and much older than her. She is the sweet, and very innocent, preacher's daughter. I loved the beginning of the story, how quickly things moved and his unapologetic pursuit of her. I liked that she was standing by her convictions even though she was attracted to him. I lost a little of the momentum with the misunderstanding and the bar scene; it felt weird and off to me, and the proposal and marriage just tanked the story for me all together - but then the ending was sweet and of course there's the happy ever after. This book is a part of the Whiskey Run: Cowboys Love Curves and focuses on Carter and Janie. Carter is a cowboy who is in the process of trying to get his own ranch up and running. Janie is the preachers daughter who is back home from college. They both fall for each other at first sight but Carter doesn't feel like he has much to offer her and is jaded due to his past failed marriage and his childhood. Janie just wants forever and a family to take care of and Carter is scared to commit again. There is plenty of push and pull until Carter finally gets it together and starts to actually pursue Janie, he just goes about it in slightly the wrong way. Thankfully, they clear the air and get a great HEA that they both wanted so desperately. Great book and addition to the series.

Hope Ford spins off her Whiskey Run series with Whiskey Run: Cowboys Love Curves, and the novella kicking things off is the steamy instalove Obsessed Cowboy. Janie is only daughter of the small town's preacher, and the moment Carter, the older divorced rancher, lays eyes on her in the co-op store, he is a goner. Carter knows he wants Janie, but his foster care upbringing and failed first marriage have left him doubting he can ever settle down. But the thought of any other man touching the untouched Janie has him rethinking things. Carter is a swoon-y imperfect perfect match for the young, innocent Janie, and their age-gap instalove romance is both steamy and un-put-it-downable. Looking forward to even more Whiskey Run titles from Ms Ford!

This is a short, sweet, insta love, that has a hot possessive alpha older male in love with a curvy younger woman. Carter is in the Co-Op and he's picking up supplies when he turns the corner and sees Janie standing there trying to reach nails. She's breathtaking and Carter can hardly breath while looking at her. Janie turns and sees Carter and she's never felt that way about any other guy. Janie is younger than him and he thinks that he's not a good enough man for her but the heart wants what the heart wants. When he gets back to town and sees Janie dancing with another guy he grabs her and takes her home. There is no asking her to marry him, he told her she was. Such a hot story with great characters.
