In Prince of Kragdon-ah, Alex Hawk and the intrepid crew of The Senta-eh sailed into a mysterious fog. When they emerged, some of the crew was missing or dead, two strangers were on board, and they were all nearly starved. The only two people who knew what had happened in the fog were not talking.
Mists of Kragdon-ah tells the story of what happened to Alex, Monda-ak, Amy and Sanda, and everyone aboard The Senta-eh inside the fog.
Mysterious airships, strange creatures never seen on Earth, and dangerous quests will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Mists of Kragdon-ah is the sixth book in the Alex Hawk Time Travel Adventure series. A seventh volume, Tribes of Kragdon-ah, will follow.
That mist gets explained and we meet some new characters. A couple of loose ends regarding them, but overall this was a nice departure from all the blood and guts and war. I do love these characters.
Another fine installment in the Alex Hawk time travel series. You definitely want to start in book one. 100% of this book takes place inside of the fifth book. So you really need to have read it first. Shawn Inmon continues to get better and better as a writer and its been a pleasure reading him as he releases these books. He is incredibly prolific and its almost hard to keep up with him!
Shawn, I know you were worried about writing to that tunnel but I think it turned out great. I think the door you had them traveling towards might have been a bit of projection on your part thinking about how will I fit all this in that little window from Prince.
Wonderful and entertaining! Having to wait so long for this book made me all the more to appreciate it. It really comes across well and blends in with the last book so well. When I finished the last book I really couldn't fathom what had happened to them all and I'm so glad you came up with this book and all it's ideas. I can really see why it was necessary for the crew to forget what happened because of all the technology they witnessed. It would be difficult for anyone unfamiliar with technology to not be confused and conflicted. So thanks Mr Inmon!😃😎
Great book by Shawn - a story of people coming to a world that may be like home but not quite. Alex, his daughters, dog and friends travel to a world after traveling thru fog . Alex leads them thru many adventures as they try to return to their original journey. Easy to read How great is Shawn’s writing - in a future 1000’s of years from today he still gets in a Caddyshack quote. I loved it and loved this book
This book is exciting as a stand-alone adventure, but truly brilliant as the answer to all our questions regarding what happened while Our Hero and his army were in the fog, if you are reading the series. Kudos to Shawn Inmon for another treasure!
This is the missing piece of the story from when Alex and his crew sailed through the fog and came out the other side with many changes made to them all - crew members missing, Injuries healed - in what only felt like a matter of seconds. As with all if Shawn's stories, I feel like I lived right alongside the characters throughout the whole book and am mourning its loss since finishing it.
I’m going to freely admit that the Alex Hawk series is not my favorite. I’m here for MIddle Falls, I’m a Shawn Inmon completist, and as all of his works are interconnected, I’m going to stick with it as all of his series I’m told tie together at the end.
I give Shawn enormous credit for literally creating a world, a language, a naming structure, and a feel for the future. That naming structure, combined with a lot of characters named after dead family members who were characters in other books, combined with I generally read 50 or 60 books in between installments makes it super hard for me to remember who is who when there’s little exposition. A character might be mentioned at the halfway point in passing who has been there since the first book and looking them up it’s the first reference in this book.
There’s a level of character development I wish we had. Sometimes with less characters you can give everyone a beat. This is non-stop action with a clear main hero character and there’s not time to develop everyone as much as I’d like. Kradak was such a strong series because there were two or three travelers (and this was something we had I believe in book three or four here) and I’d love just a little bit more attention to the characters.
Might be me having my grump on. I will certainly be continuing.
This book takes place from the time the strange mist overtook the ship and when Alex and company awoke, starving and missing people. This is what took place. When Alex and the 800 passengers awoke, they were on a strange world of many islands. Their course led them to a barrier of tremendous lightning storms and sea monsters! When Alex notices a discrepancy (two of the sea monsters look and act identically) he sends the ship through the illusion into a calm sea and a friendly island. Many marvelous inventions make life easier and safer, thanks to their brilliant father who is captive of another group of islanders. Alex and company agree to find and free their father and the adventure continues. Fights, captures, escapes, combat, death and healing are just a few of the things Alex and his friends from Kragdon-ah go through. Familiar characters and friends, action out the wahzoo! We know how it began and ended, but until now what happened between were only guesses. But now we know the truth! Amazing characters and a delightfully twisty storyline bring us a marvelous read!
I started this on Audible from their Plus catalog. I had a tough time warming up to the MC because of several choices he made. I felt like no matter how much he brow-beat himself for it the truth was that he DID abandon his daughter even were it not intentionally. His abandonment was the direct result of choices he made to satisfy his curiosity over his commitments. It made it very hard for me to warm up to him. I did, eventually, and in time he even redeemed himself in regard to said abandonment of daughter. But I was a very hard sell.
That said in terms of portal fantasy this entire series is totally bomb. I loved it and wish there were more of it.
Very imaginative, and a great continuation to the saga. I’ve read all the preceding books in the Alex Hawke series and really like them. This one definitely helped close the loop and all the question marks on book 5, but it had a very strange ending which despite the fantasy of the book still didn’t seem to fully add up to me. Without giving away any spoilers, it was the confrontation scene towards the end that I felt it fell short - it was just odd.
That aside, I’m sure I’ll still download the next in the series.
I wasn't sure I wanted to read this volume of the series, but I am glad I did. First of all, let me reiterate my enthusiastic appreciation for the creative mind of author Shawn Inmon. The world of Astora is as interesting as that of Kragdon-ah. And the story explains the enigma of.the "lost time" of the maim series. Read this book--read all of these books. You'll be happy you did so! A+++ Bravo!
What an interesting world. It's like the place beyond the Bermuda Triangle where all the lost people ended up, mashed together from various times and worlds. And FINALLY! we get to see what happens when they are forced to utilize some technology. And look, it worked out just fine, lol. I don't think I could erase the memories from all that, however. Despite some losses, it was one hell of a ride.
I read this because I loved the other books in the Alex Hawk series and despite being a little slower than the other books was a very good plot in itself. It also tied in to the main plot to a degree. Probably not a must read but was interesting & fun.
Didn’t know what to expect on this one, but it was a fun read. Full of weird and fun surprises. Don’t know how he comes up with this stuff. Highly recommended.
I've to have the missing time accounted for. I have always been annoyed by missing story line. That said I do enjoy letting my imagination ponder while awaiting the next book in a series.
This was another fun adventure with Alex Hawk and his daughters. I'd wondered for a while what happened when the ship passed through the fog. Now I know. On to the next great Manta-ak journey.
I have really enjoyed this series .Interesting characters and surprising adventures.Always enjoy finding a author that is new to me and a pleasure to read
I really, really needed this after reading “Prince”. Thank you! My only wish is that I would have liked to have read this between chapters 17 and 18 of “Prince”.
While different, this is still a very good story. This is much like book number 3 in the series where it focuses more on what brought them together than following the actual story line.
To me, a 3* is what I refer to as a good, fun, “filler” book to be read between the ones that emotionally destroy you or nonfiction that breaks your brain.
