In a battle of assassins and dragonriders, the true power of mercy will be tested ...
Thatcher Renley is not ready to go to war. Ahead of him, a mysterious army of assassins and war criminals gathers for a surprise invasion, poised to make the first deadly strike. Behind him, a small group of dragonriders and band of unlikely allies rush to assemble a resistance. As the darkness gathers, the divine rival that has haunted his steps from the very beginning finally emerges, ready to challenge Maldobar's hard-won peace. And this time, she's calling Thatcher out personally.
Even with powerful allies like Jaevid Broadfeather, Jace Rordin, and Garnett ready to fight alongside him, Thatcher worries their forces won't be enough to start an insurrection led by the Goddess of Mischief herself. But this battle might not be won with sword and dragonfire. Can Thatcher muster his courage and enough power to stop her? Or will the craftiness and spite of a vengeful goddess finally be the kingdom's undoing?

An intense fourth book in the Dragon Rider Heritage series, in this one, the main focus is on Murdoc and Thatcher. One is coming to terms with Godling Status and the other learning he so much more than what he was raised to be. There is always a dangerous mission on the horizon, and this one is an edge-of-your-seat one. Thatcher finally steps up in the romance department along with Murdoc. Emotions will run high as we come a long way with these characters, and they come so far from book one of this series. I am intrigued by what is on the horizon for book five, titled Sojourner. That cover is up on Amazon if you want to preorder and take a peek at what's coming. I love this series, and each book has just a bit more interest and excitement to be found within its pages.
Wow! What an amazing book. The pacing and balance between action and down time are perfect. I love how the complexities of friendship are shown throughout the story especially with Thatcher and Murdoc, and I loved watching their journeys throughout the series. A fantastic read, for sure.

I knew I was going to love it from page 1, and I was right.
The book starts off from Thatcher's pov, then switches to Murdoc around chapter 8. And goes back and forth. This allows the readers to get the inside scoop on what the characters are thinking and feeling without them talking about it (which would be out of character, especially for Murdoc).
I wish I had the forethought to re-read the previous books to refresh my memory on side characters who appeared briefly in them and reappear in this one.
The author writes great action scenes. Keeps you at the edge of your seat. Sprinkles in humor and really knows how to get you in the feels. Have a box of tissues on standby. Around page 318 or so I was desperately looking for tissues.
The wrap up was a little longer than I was used to, but there were a lot of characters whose loose ends needed tying up. My favorite was Murdoc, but I've always been a sucker for dark-haired boys. 😉
Godling did a great job rounding off the first series in The Dragonrider Heritage books. From start to finish Nicole Conway delivers an incredible story. As always she manages to create a fun, emotional and action-packed flow, that makes it impossible to put the book down. You are transported along on the characters adventures and because they are so well written, you easily become invested. Now that I have finished Godling, I am already "chomping at the bit" for the story to continue. Until then I will be rereading the first 4 books of Heritage, which is so exciting because Nicole Conway is a master at delicately sprinkling hidden connections and surprises throughout her stories and each time I read a dragonrider book, I find more and more to fall in love with.
This quartet was... fine? I did not like literally any of Murdock's POV (spelling of char names probably incorrect). Him and Thatcher had 100% more romantic chemistry than him and Phoebe. Literally 0 chemistry with them. Stupid. Ew. Not here for it. I wasn't here for the romance but if I had been it needed to be more gay. Blight was a nice addition to the team. Didn't like that everything became about gods. I respect this author's work but I don't think I'll read more of her stuff. Just not my thing.
loved it !!! love this series !!! love Murdoc and Thatcher this is their journey... a fast paced action packed drama... many loose threads are cleared up... the end of one journey and the beginning of another... have tissues ready....

Reading this book, like all previous chapters in the series (as well as the other books written by Nicole) is better than watching a movie as I feel as if I'm right there with Thatcher, Murdock, Phobe and the rest of the group experiencing their adventures, wishing I could join! Highly recommend and looking forward to future releases!
When reading a series of books, it can drone on and on as a story gets stretched too thin. Not so with this book. An enjoyable read that closes a major story segment, but also prepares the way for the next adventure with your favorite characters. Very well done!
The entire series.has been an amazing read. The characters are well built. The background is described as though you are part of the book. I can't wait till the final book comes out to find out what happens with to all the main characters.
This one brought a lot of answers ho,e for me and it also made me cry. Especially when Thatcher was on the verge of death and Mudoc was cradling him and crying, then when they found Devana and she passed. And the little romantic relationships that were formed made me smile.

Don't expect a slow moving book, this will not be it! Great characters, some unexpected twists but moves you right along! Can't wait for the next in the series!

Once again, Nicole has written a great novel. I prepared myself by re-reading the other three in the series, and was not disappointed in this conclusion. I devoured the book in one fell swoop, and she wraps up all the loose threads nicely. If you've paid attention and followed the hints she left along the way, you'll be prepared for the ending.
Like another reviewer said, this book has an emotional ending for Murdoc (my favorite character), so be prepared with some tissues.
Now excuse me while I go re-read all the books, starting with Fledgling.
As always, Nicole Conway delivers! She draws me into the story and I connect with the characters. As with every series I’ve read from her, this one is superb! I preordered this book and have already preordered the next book in this series, Sojourner!
