Maple Cove Dog Lovers' Society #3
Foxhound Foes
Rylee and Matt are sworn enemies—and falling in love might push them apart forever.
Rylee’s living her dream life in NYC. The problem is she can’t afford it. A promotion would get her a raise, an office, and validation that leaving her small-town past was right. The only thing blocking it is Matt Calhoun, the arrogant newspaper editor who has turned Maple Cove against her and BigMart’s expansion plans.
Matt has seen Rylee’s selfish, big-city type before. In fact, he’d almost married it! He won’t let her empty promises hurt the people of Maple Cove, but as she worms her way into the hearts of the small community, he sees a different side of her. Now he has a new problem—protecting his heart.

Caught in the middle of a turf war, Rylee is sent off to Maple Cove to persuade the small community that they need BigMart's expansion plans. Rylee quickly realizes that despite her bosses' lack of insight into small-town living, she is in fact in the best position to understand both sides of the same coin. Her nemesis, newspaperman Matt, is dead set against the muted expansion, given the organisation's history and his knowledge of New York wheelers and dealers. After all, his father is one of them. Thinking he has got rid of Rylee, Matt is horrified to discover that she is his new neighbor, and this time she has a dog in tow. This sweet romance has underlying tension as Rylee is the pawn on the chessboard, and she quickly comes to realize that with the way things are going, the promised promotion might never happen. The small-town residents of Maple Cove are both charming and aggravating, to the extent that I felt sorry for Rylee having to face them on her own. As the attraction between Matt and Rylee escalates, she is also left in a quandary regarding her own past and how much she can disclose to him. When the truth is blurted out by a disloyal third party, Rylee runs. However, this time she runs in the right direction, the one that brings to light the truth about past mistakes and one that brings healing to her wounded soul. I received a copy of this sweet romance as a gift through BookSprout and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Enemies to sweethearts, this story was completely precious. Though, I have to admit, the possibilities that ending presents have kind of wiped all the thoughts about the rest of the book from my brain. Rylee may have the veneer of a big city executive, but at heart, she’s still a little bit of a fish out of water. Will her small-town roots be the key to securing her employer’s expansion goals and her promotion? Matt was the fish out of water as the scion of one of New York’s corporate dynasties, but now that he’s found his place in Maple Cove, he’ll do whatever he has to in order to protect it. The easy path would have given these two explosive chemistry, instead, theirs is a much quieter, slower burn that drew me in and made me invest more of myself into their story. I loved seeing the growth both Matt and Rylee went through to find their happy ending. And as I mentioned, the ending we’re given to this book has made me slightly rabid to read what’s going to happen next.

I couldn't believe Rylee's boyfriend when she caught him cheating on her and then he didn't want his dog back after she dog-napped him. I didn't like Rylee at first. She struck me as someone trying to sell the mega store to the small community without having very many answers especially when corporate kept changing their plans to the detriment of Maple Cove. But Coco and the citizens of Maple Grove made her care about them and rethink her career goals. I laughed out loud at so many moments in this book from the crazy outfits she had to wear when her luggage was lost to the eclectic dual businesses that had me wondering what were they thinking. Sophie and Coco were stars with their playful loving nature. I love how the whole community has embraced their dogs. Once again Olive stirs up trouble and I can't wait to see how that plays out in the next book.

This might be my favorite in the series yet!
"Cranberry Hill was nice, but Maple Cove was an oddly shaped key that seemed to fit an oddly shaped space in his heart."
I think Matt got that right. The more time I spend in Maple Cove, the more I realize how much I have grown to love the place and its people.
I found both Matt and Rylee to be likeable and relateable characters and easy to root for - if not professionally, in Rylee's case, then definitely for her personally!
4.5/5 quirky and heart-warming stars

This book features two polar opposites eventually working together as 'Frienemies'. This is a book that you can lose yourself in and just enjoy watching the sparks fly as avowed enemies work toward common ground. A contributing factor is that their dogs are instantly attracted to each other. Will a 'Big City' woman concede to 'Small Town USA' s' demands for fair treatment on big business's development of purchased land? Bring your popcorn and find out. I received a free ARC copy of the book for an honest review.

Matt and Rylee are opposites in many ways as he grew up in the city and came to the small town life and she did the opposite. They are fighting against each other over a mega store coming to town. The characters are believable and the dogs are terrific. The storyline has plenty of situations where twists and surprises keep it going. Matt and Rylee start off opposing sides but when they end up being near each other, a friendship escalates quickly. Loved the ending.

Rylee's job is to convince the people of Maple Grove to let BigMart build a store in their town. She isn't supposed to make friends with everyone and develop feelings for the reporter that didn't like her when she first got to town but she did. I enjoyed the characters and I thought it was very special when Rylee is able to get back the close relationship she has with her parents.

Very sweet romance. I love this little town and all the quirky people. Matt and Rylee start off as enemies but start to develop feelings for each other quickly. I think Coco and Sophie steal the show. Fun and easy read. It also leads into the next in the series well.

Rylee and Matt’s story started out slow. Matt wasn’t very nice and Rylee sounded rather spoiled. As I continued to read it got better and I fell in love with them just as they did. Lots of different stories happening all at once.

I am a volunteer ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is the third book in Maple Cove. Each book is a stand alone in which you continue to see the characters from the other books. This book is about Matt and Rylee who are on opposite sides of Big Mart moving into the area. He is the town reporter and she works for Big Mart. Sparks fly initially, but they begin to become friends as they start to see each other’s sides. I felt the characters were believable. The story was good and was real life. Loved the dogs! The characters evolved throughout the story which kept you wanting to read. I will say I did cry with Coco who was missing Rylee.

Good book, but the ending was a sort of cliffhanger in respect to Maple Cove possible building of BigMart, have to read the next book to find out?
Matt & Rylee are on opposite sides of the possible purchase of land to build the mega store.
Matt is a reporter with the Cranberry Chronicle. Rylee is an employee of BigMart in town from New York City office.
Friendship developed between the two, but it was "ruff" going!
As always loved the dogs involved, very sad that Rylee left Coco with Eliza. Even if it was for a short time, not sure I could do that. JMO
