Health problems hit, but now with book #100 out, I am looking forward to my retirement. I am not only an avid writer, but an avid reader. I am constantly with a book, whether writing my own or reading someone else's, I am always looking for a new journey and believe that with books and a vivid imagination, anything is possible. I love and thank the readers who bring the stories to life. Thanks for what you add to the books. Your imaginations, added to my own, complete the stories. This journey has been amazing. Thanks, family, friends, and amazing readers
Josh, Zeke and Cassie have all experienced some strange life-altering things that leave them with a soul saving job to do.
This is a paranormal suspense that is both engaging and intriguing. As the story progresses it makes you think about difficult, but important subjects. The author conveys the importance of the 3 main characters obligations well, and fills the story with emotion and feeling.
I think a lot of readers will be able to relate to the situations and experiences that those nearing the end of life have been through. My favourite character was Frank. It was interesting seeing how his relationship with Zeke developed until he felt able to face his fears and forgive himself.
Are you, like me, a sap for a wonderful good versus evil story? Do you love to see the good guys win? Does your idea of death include good versus evil and the triumph of good? Do you believe angels surround you in times of need, or in times of great danger? Have you placed your life in the hands of the angels before? If you answered yes to any of these questions you will absolutely love this story. The tale begins with a terrible automobile accident in which Josh, his mother and his father are involved. His father does not make it. His mother does and so does Josh. His mother is injured severely. Josh awakens from his coma having been given "Obligations" by the angels that conducted him back into his life. Almost immediately he meets a new friend and love to be, Cassie, who will be one of his help mates and Zeke who works for Josh's Grandmother who will also be his ultimate helpmate in one of his important "Obligations." It turns out Zeke's obligation is to help Josh rid their town of a dark, evil spirit who has come there to rob people of their happiness, and to rob spirits of their soul. I will not tell you more of the story. To do so would impact your reading too highly. This is a paranormal story. It feels like reality in the reading. It feels like the author has had the experiences of Josh, Zeke and Cassie. The author has done a masterful job of dealing with the subject of death, the moments of the ending of life, and the eternal battle of good and evil. I enjoyed the book tremendously. It is a tale for all ages with the caveat that very young children would have difficulty understanding, especially if they had lost family recently. Five stars easily merited for this one
Take a little inspiration from Highway to Heaven, Touched by an angel and don’t forget a smattering of Twilight zone and you have Obligations! Joshua crossed over to the other side but was sent back to earth “It’s not your time boy!” He returned to earth and carried out his obligation to rid the world of the evil that snuck through the portal. With the help of new friends Zeke and Cassie his quest is fulfilled. This is a great story for anyone who believes anything is possible with a good attitude and a willing heart. While there is some darkness, I enjoyed the story for its positive and upbeat message. 5 angel wings for great storytelling by Ms. Winn.
Paranormal is not my usual read. However I enjoy this author and her large variety of works including poetry. I enjoy the characters and bought into the story. Although I thought it was a somewhat wordy, it held my attention till the end. Good job.
After a terrible accident, life changes for Joshua in unexpected ways, his experience forcing him into the paranormal world.
A story about good versus evil, one that was fast-paced and reasonably well-written (some grammatical issues but nothing to spoil the story). The characters were realistic and fitted well into the fantasy tale.
It had some thought-provoking ideas. Although meant for a YA readership, I think the concepts are universal.
This is a good story. I enjoyed reading from beginning to end. I am always interested in stories that include the supernatural element -- this one was done well.
The story begins with a car accident and death, but soon the tempo changes to one of hope for the future. Josh dies but he comes back. He comes back with an obligation, which isn't clear to him at first until he meets Zeke. He soon learns that he has to save the present world and the future world from a dark creature. A creature that could suck the spirit out of anyone. Josh, Zeke, and Cassie get jobs at nursing home to find this creature before he finds the tunnel between both worlds. They work with patients who are close to death. They help these patients and also give them hope for their futures in the next world. This book makes you think. What if there is a next world? Would we be passing to it with the help of our family? Are our family members waiting for us to join them? This book shows us what could be.
Wow! I loved the concept of this book, and it was my first book by P.S. Winn! Basically, it's about a boy named Josh who dies tragically but then miraculously, he comes back. And something came back with him. Something evil. Now he has a serious obligation to fulfill. He has to save the world from an evil creature. With the help of his friends Zeke and Cassie, Josh will get to work on the task at hand. His duty will lead him on a supernatural journey that keeps the reader enthralled. The writing is incredible and I was so into the story it kept me up until the wee hours of the morning. P.S. Winn is an amazing storyteller and I can't wait to read her other books!
I adore books that give us a glimpse into the afterlife and "Obligations" didn't fail to enthral me. After a horrendous car crash in which all occupants die, Josh and his mother return to the land of the living. Josh has returned, though, with an obligation as well as the ability to see people's auras. And he wasn't alone, an evil entity came with him. Josh now has to rid the world of this being before it can spread its evil worldwide. This was an inspiring read, it gave an insight into death, how those close to it deal with it, and what awaits us in the afterlife. Just my kind of book.
This incredible story is one of those that you start to read and don't stop until it's finished. Josh is killed in a car accident, but he comes back to life with an obligation. He must save the world from a creature who could suck the spirit from people. Josh, his friends, Zeke and Cassie set out to save the present and future world. Like other books by Pam Winn, this novel is written with insight and intelligence and pushes the reader to question our existence and relationships.
A near death experience has taken Josh to a different world. Upon his return from the valley of the shadow of death he is given a few extra gifts, like seeing aura's and a couple of special friends. He'll need everything he has because his obligation is to find and get rid of the evil that somehow followed him back.
This is the story of a young man who finds himself crossing to the other side and then getting sent back. One big problem is the obligation he is tasked with. Find and destroy the evil that somehow got into the tunnel between worlds and is now on Earth and ready to do what damage it can. Luckily, Josh is given some special gifts and some special friends to help.
