The Sprawling: A Horror
Trapped in a nightmarish skyscraper & stalked by their darkest secrets, a group of office workers must band together to escape the malevolent plans of their new employer.
Working for SiDug Corporation was supposed to be the opportunity of a lifetime. Twice the pay that other IT firms were offering, the ability to work from home, and no supervision once hired. All that was required was to complete one week of training.Unfortunately for the new hires, SiDug was about to prove to be anything but a dream job. When they start their first day of training, they quickly realize that all is not what it seems. The lines of reality are blurred, and some of the darkest secrets they have buried in their minds have somehow been resurrected by this cursed place. When they try to leave, they find themselves locked inside this nightmare office building, lost within a labyrinth of cubicles and endless hallways, and chased by the very things they hoped to never experience again.
But if they want to escape with their lives, they will first have to fight for their sanity as they uncover the truth about what SiDug is really all about.

Jonathan Chateau
8 books97 followersJonathan Chateau grew up reading books by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Michael Crichton. However, it was Fight Club--both the 1996 novel by Chuck Palahniuk and the 1999 film by David Fincher--that inspired him to pursue writing. He has also had a love of movies since he was five and was even named after James Caan's character, Jonathan E, from the 1975 cult classic, Rollerball.
He has completed five novels, Nightmares in Analog, The Death Wish Game, Faith Against the Wolves, and Faith Against the Angels. His fifth book, The Sprawling, is slated for release next year.
When Jonathan's not writing, he's working out, painting table-top miniatures like those from Warhammer or the Walking Dead, playing way-too-many video games, eating spicy food, jamming out to Emo & EDM, or spending time with his family, friends and his spoiled cats, Boo (the Dork) & Luna (the Princess.)

It is about a building that is alive!

From time to time I love a good horror, and while I'm usually more attracted to subtle horrors, those that surge from your mind and not from blood and gore, I'm still a big fan of Stephen King and I know not every good horror has to be subtle. In this case what attracted me to the book was (apart from knowing tha Jonathan Chateau is a capable author!) the blurb.
Work of your dreams... or.. of your nightmares. Very relatable for me!!!
And I LOVED the setting at the beginning.. very subtle and unsettling. Being out to celebrate the new work..with your girlfriend..or not? Something strange is going on there and it's clear from the beginning.
I admit I would have liked it if the focus stayed there a bit longer, the horror is always more real when you are attached to the characters from "before", but I get it, we are introduced only to Zander, but the focus of the story will shift from him to other characters during the novel, so it would have been eccessive to focus too much on him only at the beginning, while doing things that way the balance is correct.
The dream work doesn't last even an our and the action begins. And there is a lot of action through out the whole book, while there is still focus on the personality (and personal trauma!) of every character, which help the reader to really care for what they are going through.
The ending is also original but believable and not over-the-top twisty, which is an over-used formula these day, so overall it was a solid and entertaining read. Recommended for fans of the horror genre in search for something that makes sense even if obviously not everything could be explained, and that is how it manages a good level of frightening factor.
I received a free copy from the author, but my opinion is only my own and I would have read it anyway since it already was in my TBR list. It is also included in the kindle unlimed subscription, which will make it very accessible for a lot of people, so why don't give it a try?

Could have been good but it just kept going and going about the silliness of never ending hallways.

An Amazing Story
It starts out with the characters and reader having no idea where what is going on, but then things slowly begin to gel as the characters deal with the horror in which they find themselves.
A gut-wrenching echo of Dean Koontz’s Phantoms mixed with vintage King, the end result is a story well worth the time and effort to enjoy this well-crafted story.

Humans yum
A good horror read throughout though some sections of this book felt like repeating filler in the events of the tale it gets interesting enough to overlook. Yes I recommend this horror story.

The blurb made it sound promising but now know that horror is no longer my thing so only read partly. Good writing though so all due respect to the author.
