Rate this book
Chu WuQing was a small-time evil boss in a web novel targeted at male audiences. His beauty was otherworldly, yet shadowed by his arrogance and malice. In the end, the male lead stole his fiance from him, and Chu Wuqing suffered a cruel death.

After being reborn, he found out that he was just cannon fodder in a novel, fated to die… So he decided to give even less of a damn; bullying the weak, taking his revenge on his enemies, going wild and doing whatever the hell he wanted.

This is hilarious smut. There is a bit of a plot at first, but I think the author just gave up and decided to haphazardly smash together an ending. Like other readers say, there really is no redeeming feature to the main character other than his looks. He's supposedly smart? But apparently not smart enough to realize everyone is falling in love with him, not actually disgusted by him. There's lots of plot holes, and I think sometimes the authors just forgets to resolve loose ends (like what ever happened to the royal demon corpse? Or what was the reason for the main character thinking he was reborn?)

However, I guess that's not the point. This is more like one of those old-school porn movies (with less sex though, until the end) than a typical yaoi novel. It's also surprisingly long - don't just look at the number of chapters, some of those chapters are monstrous. The story honestly might have been more gripping if the author reduced the number of love interests and thus the word count. It got a bit repetitive in the middle.

Anyways, the translators were champs, and did a really good job. The story was fun, though it does get repetitive and the ending is rushed.

3/5 stars. The beginning of the novel was actually very interesting! I liked the initial idea behind the MC and his reincarnation, especially how instead of changing his fate he accepted it and instead decided to stay true to himself. His own motivation towards cultivating was also genuine. Not to mention, his looks as a peerless beauty was definitely an interesting add on.

But, after a while of the MC being in the lower realm, the story kind of lagged, as did the "romance" aspect (I would argue this isn't really a romance story, rather a story about obsession, but it is one of the tags). Not much happened in the lower realm that truly mattered in the grand scheme of the story. After he leaves the lower realm, many of the characters disappear and nothing he did had any consequence. Even his cultivation was really just dropped entirely.

And, honestly, I disliked the incest with his own father. Incest in general is morally wrong, but in terms of the plot I felt it was just an easy way to explain the MC's past life. It would have been so much better if the MC's dad had been written as his actual parent and just had unconditional, familial love for him. The MC basically had no real family of friends that gave him love and safety.

This story was too short and could have used much more world building, character building, and content. It felt like the ending and middle sections were rushed and didn't maintain the same vigor as it did at the start. Regardless, I did enjoy reading it, but it was a dark and twisted book. Read at your own discretion.
