She fears that she will be stuck in a loveless marriage until she meets him…

Alicia Lockmore is the eldest daughter of Baron Saldington. Two years ago she made her debut in London society. Sadly, Alicia did not complete the Season due to her father losing most of the family’s fortune. To save the family from further scandal her father moved them to the countryside where they have been living for the past two years. Alicia’s father arranges with his sister The Dowager Countess of Allensby for her to attend the upcoming London Season. Alicia has always hoped that she would marry for love someday. But she is well aware that her family needs her to make a suitable match. Everything changes when Alicia meets the handsome Earl of Walshire. She believes that he is the one but her cousin Patrick feels differently.

Ewan Walsh, the Earl of Walshire, has been living a peaceful life in the countryside. He was once in love with a lady who left him brokenhearted. Evan was devastated and took up a roguish lifestyle. A life-threatening incident two years ago caused Evan to flee to the countryside. He has vowed never to fall in love again, but then he meets the kind and beautiful Alicia Lockmore….

Can Evan prove that he is no longer the man he used to be? Or will his past reputation keep him from being with Alicia?

A clean & sweet Historical novel with happy ever after.

A lovely Regency romance about a beautiful and innocent true lady and the man who drowned his first heart-break in rakish ways. It was harsh to judge Ewan on his past behaviour as such was quite accepted within the ton, especially as the cause was known. I fully expected that Ewan had seduced a love interest of Patrick's, as his hatred was way over the top.
Patrick's controlling ways were perhaps the norm in Regency times, but he overstepped his authority several times. It is hard to reconcile the nice man he really was, with the arrogant bore he acted.
Mileshire is absolutely awful, but unfortunately, typical of the men of the ton. I had difficulty in believing Patrick would actually encourage him when his behaviour was so much worse than Ewan's had ever been.
It was interesting that Alicia considered herself betrothed, even though the obnoxious Mileshire had not even proposed to her. Surely nothing is set until he actually asked her!
The extended epilogue was hard to find, but worth the read.
This was an ARC I reviewed voluntarily and I gave it 4 stars.

Thank heaven for fate.
The oldest of the Lockmore daughters had come to London for her debut. Ellen the youngest had come with her as did Rose and Laura but as quickly they all left London and perhaps never to return. This is bad news but to she is too loose something else too. Then Alicia was given the chance to be sponsored by her Aunt, so she again will be going to London. I liked this character she accepted what happened and dealt with the loss of her painting but now she also understands to help her sisters she needs to marry well. I also liked Ewan Walsh, the Earl of Walshire and Patrick kind of grew on me but it did take the better of the book, he was a bit stubborn. The Marquess is described as obnoxious and the character was. I was lost in this book and enjoyed every minute I spent reading.

Wow

These stories just continue to get better and better. I can’t seam to get any thing done because I just one to read one story after the other none stop. This was another great love story about a wealthy family falling on hard times. But the eldest daughter get a chance to be part of the new Season starting. So that hopefully she would make a marriage match that hopefully can also help her family. But as usual she meets her Prince Charming but is not permitted to marry the one she loves because her chaperone is against it and chooses someone she can’t stand because of his passed knowledge of the Earl she is in love with reputation. But I don’t want to tell you the entire story, just want you to know if you read it you want be disappointed and it does end in happily ever after.

THE EARL PROVES HIMSELF

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Ewan Walsh, Earl of Walshire, was a rake that changed his ways and ostracized himself from London society. Lady Alicia is the daughter of a baron who lost almost all of his wealth in a business deal that turned into a swindle. A storm that stranded Alicia and her cousin Patrick, sets the wheels in motion to a very interesting love interest that runs the gamut of proving Ewan’s goodness and the fact that he truly did turn out to be a better person. The emotional upheaval in the story had me wanting to interact with the characters, even though I knew they were fictional. This story took me into it and made me an omniscient observer. I felt as if I was there.

People CAN change

Alicia's first season was abruptly ended due to her family's change in fortune. A few years later she had the opportunity to be sponsored again by her aunt and chaperoned by her cousin Patrick. He was certain people did not change and warned off one suitor and pushed forward another oblivious to Alicia's desires. What a mess he created. Enjoyed seeing how things progressed and Patrick's enlightenment. Highly recommend this appealing clean story.

Received ARC and this is my honest review.

First Come The Earl

This story was one that I really enjoyed. Historical romances are filled with old world traditions. Alicia had four sister. Her fathers business ventures had somewhat failed. He moved to family to the country estate to try and recoup his losses. It was decided that Alecia would go to London for a season, hopefully to have a suitor and marriage. Her cousin, came to get her and traveL back to London. She met the true love of her life, Walsh. I hope you enjoy the story.

First Comes the Earl, this is another well written, good book by Sally Forbes. I received it by the author for an honest opinion. I truly enjoyed the book with two extended epilogues.

Ms Forbes described the characters in detail, each character came alive, the main characters and the friends and families. The music at the elegant dances were well described, I could visualize in the back ground. An excellent book with a good plot that takes you to another era in time. I recommend this book to all ages if you love this time period in history.

First comes the earl.

A wonderful love story and beautifully written. It shows that the routes of love sometimes presents detours but with perseverance love will find a way to a clear path. The only advice I can give to this writing is there is a need for better proofreading. There are quite a few mistakes.

Good story

A good, clean story that illustrates that a pleasant presentation doesn't mean that the presenter is decent or honest.
The girl remained true to her inner intuition despite her cousin's manipulation. The truth came out eventually.

Good but…

There were a LOT of grammar errors that drove me nuts. Might not be a big deal for anyone else, though.

Sweet story, but very predictable, too.
