The Billionaire's Mistake

Rate this book
The Billionaire’s Mistake is a classic billionaire-chases-former-virgin romance - if your idea of classic is steamy, steamy angst with another plot twist that will make you gasp… No one says no to me. I’ve never worked to get laid in my life. Women throw themselves at my feet. My last name is enough for models, socialites, actresses, and A-listers--I hardly even have to buy them dinner first. Emery is nothing like normal women. She seduced me, gave me her first time, and suddenly I’m the one on my knees. Finding out that she was keeping secrets from me should have made my life easier. I could go back to living it on my own terms. No attachments, no obligations. No big blinky eyes begging me for more. When she walked away, I should have thrown a party. But she doesn’t get to just walk away. I’m the one who says when this is over. And her perfect, sweet small town is an addiction I can’t kick. There’s no way I’m letting her get away that easily. It’s time to remind her exactly what she’s missing. I might even have to remind her twice. Fine, three times, max. She belongs at my side. In my bed. And she’d better not be keeping any other secrets from me. Book two of three in the Intern Trilogy.

This is book two of THE INTERN trilogy. Expect cliffhanger.

Emery has just gotten an internship not only in New York City but a dream one at Duke Capital and she has just ruined it by slamming into a man spilling coffee all over him. She's just lucky it wasn't hot. That would have been a lawsuit on top of losing her job.

Sitting in front of her boss Blythe Lawrence-Duke, Emery is nervous because how do you tell your boss that you just spilled coffee all over her husband. Yes, she just spilled coffee all over THE DUKE of Duke Capital!

Before she can think of anything that may save her job, because surely that's why she's been called to Blythe's office, Blythe asks what Emery knows about her husband and begins dabbing at her eyes telling her that he started his business by tearing others apart.

All he was interested in was money and sex. How rough he was with her and how he cheated. How she can't prove anything, but she just wants to be free. And Emery is just the person to help her get that freedom.

Emery sits there in shock as Blythe tells her she will pay her $50,000 to date her husband. Seduce her husband so he'll sign the divorce papers and the money is hers.

Unlike book one which was only from Harrison's POV, this book is from the POV of both Harrison and Emery. This book starts immediately where book one ended but starts with Emery realizing that she left Harrison in her bedroom as she got ready for his surprise date. Her bedroom that has the check from his wife sitting on her dresser.

As she rushes back to the room to explain that she had no intention of cashing the check she finds that Harrison is gone...he left. Texting her that they would have to do this another time because something came up.

Emery rushes towards Harrison's office in the morning to explain about the check and come clean about what she has done, but not only is he cold towards her, but he is making plans from a dinner date with the firm attorney, Cheryl.

She is in shock. Had she been wrong this whole time about him? Had Blythe been telling her the truth? So she packs up her belongings and returns home to Kansas. Her dreams of New York shattered. And she only had herself to blame.

I love how this book transitioned perfectly from book one being totally in Harrison's POV to being in Emery's. Even though we met Emery in The Billionaire's Intern, we only knew her from Harrison's POV and it was nice hearing her voice.

I love the chemistry between Harrison and Emery. Regardless of how angry and heartbroken Harrison is because of Emery's actions, he is determined for her to explain herself. Harrison fights internally with himself with what he knows of Emery and what she has done. He can't reconcile what she has done and is determined to get his answers.

We knew from book one that Blythe was a viperous snake, but this book really tells you how bad this woman is and what she will do to get what she wants.

Love this series and looking forward to the final book in this series!

Ohhhh this one was good.

Emery and Harrison are getting their crap together and now THIS! We all know that miscommunication over this cliff hanger or the gym buddy is going to lead to drama. I'll complain but I'm 100% here for it just to get to that sweet, sweet HEA.

Before I started this book, I made a mental plan to take my time while reading, not doing what I normally do and read it all in one sitting without breathing. But all of that went out the window when I got my hands on this book. I had to know what is going to happen with Emery and Harrison.
And I can honestly say that I was not disappointed.

I enjoyed the writing and the way the story progressed, but I would have liked it even more if both of them have groveled a bit more. And there were some parts of the story where it felt a bit rushed, but overall it was a great second book, that left me wanting for more.
Emery spread her wings a bit more, and became even more strong, daring and capable of knowing what she wants and going for it.
I liked seeing Harrison learning from his past mistakes, and how he finally allows himself to be happy.

And that ending? WOW! Truth to be told, there was a part of me that hopped that something like that would happen, because I wanted to see and know how the characters would react. Now I have to wait, anxiously and without a breath for the last book in this trilogy. All that I hope is that I don’t have to wait much, because I really need that book now!

I had the amazing pleasure and opportunity to receive an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I flew through the pages of this one really fast. It took me only a few hours to finish reading the continuation to Emery and Harrison. The story picks right up after the ending of the first book. We found out the truth behind Emery's presence in Harrison's life, which I wasn't expecting actually. And eventually led to Emery going back to her hometown, heartbroken.

I was actually expecting more grovelling on Harrison's side. I would have loved that. Because I felt like there were some parts of the story where it felt a bit rushed. Especially when Emery takes him back. I can definitely see Harrison wanting to do better by Emery but he's still protective and a little overbearing at times.

I can't wait to read the third book to see how he's going to react to the news Emery's about to bring to him.

Sexy, fun and romantic

So Emery has gone home trying to get over Harrison and trying to re-adjust to the suburgatory life again. Only Harrison can't seem to forget her though and instead comes up with an idea and track her down.

It is really fun to read about the story of Emery and Harrison. Their story is deeply intriguing, fascinating and funny. The constant struggle between the couple is made in a very funny way which keep the story light.

The only reason i give the book only 4 stars is because of some spelling errors. Otherwise it is a light, fun and really hot book to read. And with this kind of ending, i am going straight away to buy the third book!

Read the second book against my better judgment. While it was better than the first, I still don’t get much chemistry between the main characters, just physical attraction. This book sees the main characters both observing some pretty toxic behaviors. Also, this author writes about the female main character like she’s from a different planet instead of Kansas. If you’re dramatic about corn fields, this is your book!

Definitely a step up from1

So this book 2 was written much better. There was content to the story, not continuous sex. I'm getting to know the characters and enjoying Harrison's romantic side. The ending was as I thought, leading to book 3 but I'm invested now and want to know the outcome. At least there's no waiting

ended with another cliffhanger…but i saw this one coming ! these two are very bad at communicating or just speaking in general. the only time they do talk and spend time together is to do the nasty, which is fine but harrison has more convos with roman than emery. harrison’s constant mention of where emery’s from was bearable at first but as the story progresses, he doesn’t let it go—and that makes it unbearable. on to good things, i appreciate the dual pov in this one and the sex scenes are good, the writing style is my most favorite thing about this series so far and i’m more than pleased with the descriptions…starting book 3 next ✨

"Well, I wanted to make sure you had something for your first day," he says. "But I also wanted to give you choice in case you hated it."

Ladies, get you a man like Harrison Duke, who's going to buy you a first day designer bag, but also buy you more first day designer bags, just in case you didn't like the first one! loool

TBM picks up from the cliff-hanger that TBI left off from, with Harrison finding the cheque Emery has been given. I felt quite conflicted through this because a lot of it appeared to have Harrison in the wrong, even though Emery was the one who was lying. Given I'm definitely Team Harrison, this actually quite annoyed me, and I found myself trying to stick up for him, even during his POV later on, where he began to shoulder more of the blame himself.

I wasn't a huge fan of Emery to begin with anyway, and the majority of this book didn't really warm me to her either. Learning that she was planted by Blythe did explain some of her conflicting behaviour from TBI though, which was something that had previously annoyed me a little. However, I do appreciate that she wasn't just a doormat heroine who gave in to everything Harrison wanted just because he was rich, and I get why she was upset after she goes to talk to him. But, I do think she was on a bit of a high horse when Harrison comes to see her, accusing him of not allowing her to give her side of the story, yet running off herself when he was justifiably angry.

Overall I thought this was a well written second book to the series and I rated it 3.8 stars. As with book 1, I liked that this was dual POV because I love being able to see the guy's perspective, and Harrison makes me laugh at times with his snotty internal thoughts lmao. 'If this ends with me renting a room with a shared hallway bathroom-it doesn't even bare thinking.' As mentioned, I was a fan of his character anyway and was definitely rooting for his happiness. Loved the steaminess in this too, especially given there was a lot of it! I'm glad the characters communicated a bit better in this book, however given the ending of this book, I think that's still definitely something they need to work on. It's going to be interesting to see how the cliff-hanger is resolved, given we seemed to be given a bit of a hint as to what Harrison's thoughts might be. Looking forward to reading the final book in this series though, and also seeing more of Harrison and Ramon's budding bromance lol.

This series has been such a fun read that I couldn’t wait to see where Lia would take us in TBM!! Lia did not disappoint either!! Get ready for laugh out loud funny, angsty, plenty of heat and over the top sexy times. Just when you think that you know what happens next there is a twist. This series just gets better!!

Granted, Emery had brought it on herself by keep such a big secret just a little bit too long. Plus, due to her own carelessness left incriminating evidence in site where he could find it. And of course, Harrison couldn’t do anything but see red when he did find it. How dare Emery play him? Especially since it was his soon to be ex-wife that had plotted her own kind of payback for him using Emery as bait. Furthermore, even as Emery tries to come clean about the whole thing, he plays it off as a big misunderstanding between the two of them. Oh, what a tangled web of deceit Harrison just wove!!

Needless to say, it didn’t take long for Harrison to react upon finding out that Emery had quit her job and headed back to Kansas. Little does he know it’s with a broken heart. But just what does Harrison have up his sleeve when he gets of Kansas?
Upon landing in Kansas Harrison made his way to the farm where Emery grew up. Even through his desired to get even with her for what she had done, he was still gobsmacked being around her. I really had to laugh at Harrison being in the barn in his suit and dress shoes. Could you even imagine?

Oh, and the things they did in that barn!! Even with Harrison trying to pass it off as “hate-sex” he knew it was impossible to mean it. Finding it hard to get Emery out of his system he chose to stay longer in town. But even doing that, would he be able to figure out where they went from there?

Be prepared, there is still another cliffy at the end of TBM and boy did it ever catch me off guard!!
Eagerly awaiting The Billionaire’s Promise!!

Harrison and Emery 😍😍😍
I had absolutely fallen in love with Harrison and Emery in book 1 and this one...
OH MY..... I'M ALL THE MORE IN LOVE WITH THEM NOW.

This book takes off where book 1 ended, where Harrison feels all betrayed by Emery. He doesn't want any answers from her as everything is clear. But for some reason he thinks he needs closure in the form of being with Emery at least one last time. So he sets off to go meet her in Kansas.

Emery is hurt by Harrison's behaviour and feels like a failure both in her personal and professional life. She thinks New York is not for and to mend her broken heart, she returns to her hometown of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.

Emery's mom is a total sweetheart with accepting her daughter's sudden return without question and supporting her. Also, her friend, Candace was great.

I loved looking at Emery's life as a small town girl. Taking care of things, their farm, farm animals. Interacting with the locals, going to farmer's day Market. I loved the beauty of the simplicity of her life there.

Especially when the billionaire arrives in the town oh so far away from the airport, with not a single proper hotel in sight.

I loved seeing how Harrison struggled 😜 yet something was holding him back from returning to New York.

If they were amazing together before, in this book, Harrison and Emery are all the more perfect and hotter together.😍😍🔥🔥

They understand each other so perfectly even after having their differences both in their respective backgrounds and their current positions.

I absolutely loved this book and definitely give this a try if you want to have a good time and just get lost in a myriad of beautiful feels and emotions. Because that's what this book made me feel. I just couldn't stop smiling throughout reading this one

I'm oh so excited for book 3. Loved loved freaking loved this one. 😍😍💟💟💟💟💟💟

Well, that cliffhanger won’t go over well. Or maybe it will.

When Harrison won’t listen to anything Emery has to say about what happened and makes her believe he hasn’t been exclusive to her the entire time, Emery quits her internship and leaves New York to go back home. But Harrison’s not happy with how things were left and chases after her to Kansas after learning she left.

Which turned out to be a good thing for them to get away and discuss what happened and where they saw their relationship. Emery goes back to New York with Harrison and eventually gets a job back at his company. But just as things seem to be going well, Emery gets some news that may break everything.

This is book two in a trilogy.

It was great that Harrison wanted the truth and believed Emery while in Kansas, but it was terrible he lost trust when back home. It will be interesting to see how Harrison reacts to the news and if it breaks them again. Or if Harrison’s ex-wife will do something to cause them issues before the news comes out.

Emery was keeping a secret, one that threatened to ruin things between her and Harrison. She made a deal with the devil herself and now she is paying the hefty price for it! When she made the deal she never expected to fall for Harrison, it was supposed to be a simple distraction plan. But her heart got involved, Harrison learned her secret, and she did the only thing she could think of... run back to the safety of Kansas.

But what she doesn't expect is for Harrison to come hunting for her, they have unresolved business and he isn't about to let her go so easily. Will they be able to work through the mess they made and find their way, or will this be the end of them?

After that cliffhanger in book one I was excited to see where things would go from there, and if these two could make it work. As we join them Harrison has flown himself to Kansas to collect the woman who duped him and stole his heart all in one fell swoop. It's evident that it isn't going to be a cheerful reunion at first, as they left things on uncertain terms. But they also have a lot of love swirling around them that can't be dampened. Reuniting with these two on their little countryside reunion of sorts was quite a delightful escape, they once again had me swimming in feels and swooning throughout! I can't wait to see where they lead me next! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Review:-
It pick us where the last book left off.
I was just as hooked as I was in the last book.

This book has dual POV’s which is really great because we finally get to hear emery’s side of the story.

Emery runs back to kansas thinking that she can escape Harrison but nope!
He followed her to kansas for answers and closure…of course thats all he wants he said😏

It is so obvious that they still want to be together but just are too damn stubborn to do so??

I like how Emery’s character progressed and how she wanted to make something of herself without Harrison’s help and how even though he could get her anything she didnt want to take advantage of him.

I was a little let down by Harrison’s character in a way with how he behaved with her in the beginning but he was still a good one.

Their chemistry is impeccable just as the first book and i loved their "in the hay rolls”😉😏

Again just as the first , we are left with a shocking ending and on a CLIFFHANGER!!!
But it actually makes things more interesting as too how their relationship would progress from the upcoming dilemma.

This is the second book in the billionaire’s intern series which is an age gap , office romance series.

The Billionaire’s Mistake is book #2 in The Intern Trilogy. Books must be read in order. Unlike the first book, we get both Emery’s and Harrison’s POV. The first book was hot and steamy. This book dials it up to 20, especially with Emery embracing her sexual side. And, you won’t find Harrison complaining on bit.

Harrison has discovered a secret Emery has been keeping. In an effort to gain the upper hand back he lets her imagination make assumptions about the reality of their relationship. Emery, feeling used on all fronts, decides to leave New York behind and head home to Kansas.

When Harrison realizes she quit her job and left town, he impulsively decides to head to Kansas to gain closure. But, once he sees Emery and hears what she has to say- hate fucking isn’t all he is thinking about.

Convincing Emery to return to New York was not a hard feat. But, as they settle into their domestic bliss and Emery returns to work- there is just another small hiccup they might have to deal with.

Was slightly surprised by turn of events- kinda thought we would get more interference from Harrison’s ex, but with one more book to come and the way Lia is changing things up, who knows.

RECEIVED FREE ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW.

The story starts off where the last book left off.

Finally seeing Emery's point of you was great! The story felt like it was going somewhere.
Harrison is hurt by what he found out and wants to hurt Emery. In doing so he drives her away.
We get to see Harrison realise how much he needs Emery and goes to Kansas to get her back.
That being said Harrison is scared about his relationship with Emery, especially since his last marriage ended in so much pain.
We get to see Emery in more detail in this book. She has changed so much, she wants to be her own person and make a name for herself. Without Harrison's help.

This book was much better than the last, mainly because they communicated a bit more than before. They still have a long way to go and still need to build their relationship.

This book just didn't do it for me. And I'm super sad about that because I was fully invested in Harrison and Emery's story. And the ending of the first book had my so ready to jump into the second.
The first part of the book was fine. It dealt with all the fun drama from the first book. But it was all resolved pretty fast. And then the majority of the book seemed a little too fluffy and like there was too much filler.
Also Emery seemed more naive and less confident in this book. It almost felt like a whole new character.
The ending to this one is also a cliffhanger, which I was expecting because this is a trilogy, but it wasn't one that would make me want to pick up the next one. I'm a little bummed at the direction the author went in this book. At this point I'm not sure if I'll read the last book in the trilogy.

This story picks up where the first book left us on a cliffhanger. Harrison is angry and hurt after he uncovers a big secret Emery was keeping from him. He's ready to unload on her, but, she's up and quit and headed back home to Kansas. Being the egotistical billionaire that wants to have the last say, he flies, then drives to her little home town to confront her about her deceit. As much as she enjoyed getting to know New York City, Harrison will have a taste of getting to know small town Kansas, and that's filled with several LOL moments!
This second book had a bit more of a fairytale spin to it as I had a hard time believing what Harrison was able to tolerate, but it's a romance story. Just as things seem to be back on track, this story ends on an interesting cliffhanger as well. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

I enjoyed this book much more than the first and I'm glad I stuck through. This book gives more of an insight into Emery with some of her POV. Harrison is struggling because his ex-wife already made him have trust issues by cheating on him with his best friend and now he feels as if Emery betrayed him also. I hate the way they wouldn't just talk through it but also understand because he had so much hurt. Emery decides to leave her dream of New York and return to Kansas. Thankfully a billionaire with a private jet fell in love with her and can follow her. He takes a look around and realized that she did have MUCH of a choice. she obviously still had some of a choice and could've told him. He convinced her to return to New York with him but I'm glad she is trying to be semi independent and find her own way when she gets back. AND HOLY CLIFF HANGER, I cannot wait for book 3

I enjoyed Book 2 as much as Book 1. That's always a great sign! Harrison and Emery are back and this time they have to find their way back to each other after each of them, in their own way, messed things up at the end of Book 1. I really like these two characters. Their attraction is magnetic, their vulnerabilities endearing, and their hookups are off-the-charts-steamy. Emery's innocent youthful outlook on everything vs. Harrison's experienced outlook and controlling ways makes for an intriguing story, filled with plenty of action. Throw in a big twist and another cliffhanger ending and I'm all-in and hooked! I'm so looking forward to Book #3, The Billionaire's Promise. I'm hoping these two get their HEA. I'll be not-so-patiently waiting to find out!

This book start immediately at the cliffhanging end of Book 1, The Billionaire's Intern. I loved the story, it is full of surprises that we didn't know in book 1. I couldn't put it down, horrified at Emery in the beginning I'm back on her team.

After a sudden end to their relationship in Book 1, Book 2 shows that the chemistry is still there and gives us another steamy read. But even though Harrison has flown across the country to ensure Emery knows how hurt he is, he isn't prepared to walk away.

But there's still more secrets, another cliff-hanger and one more book before we know where Emery and Harrison's future ends, together or not. I can't wait for Book 3
