Truth is a Whisper - Mandi Blake - 4.5 Stars - The perfect hallmark movie style Christian cowboy romance story I needed!
This follows our main characters of Ava and Jameson. We start of with Ava being forced to leave him with her very controlling and narcissistic mother. Then we cut to 6 years later when they have the opportunity to meet again as Ava comes to visit her grandfather on the ranch she left so long ago due to his health issues going on. She soon realizes how much she loves the ranch and doesn't want to leave it -- or Jameson. We see some family drama and secrets unfold with Ava's mother and Ava and Jameson start to work together on the ranch - tied together by their love for it. Will she stay? Will she finally start her life without being tied down to the control of her mother? Can Jameson prove himself to those he wants to most? The story takes off from here.
Ya'll this book surprised me! Thank you Mandi Blake for such a feel good, lighthearted, Christian romance with a lot of things I loved! I did wish we saw her salvation experience but overall great faith!

✅Romance was quicker but not totally instalove - they did know each other a short time but I feel like the way this story was told—it didn’t feel like instalove to me. I was so connected with the characters, the small town, the family, etc.

Standard Cowboy Fare
They fell in love as teenagers but were separated and six years later the finally got together. They both dated other people while apart but they met again and were right back in love. There is a side story of somebody wanting to buy the ranch and they were bad people, and another storyline about her Mother who was very hateful. Everything works out in the end. This was a Christian novel and there was only kissing.

it was okay, i just didn’t vibe with it and the third person was throwing me off, I even tried the audiobook but that some how made it worse..

This is such a great read. I’m not normally drawn to “cowboy” romance, but I think I’d read anything by Mandi Blake.

Cowboys, ranch life, estranged family, good friends, and some real life snakes on two legs to make things interesting…that’s what you get with the Wolf Creek Ranch series. But it is more than that. You ever want to watch a show that is like Yellowstone without all the bad stuff, well here is your chance to read an amazing series filled with all the good stuff and none of the bad content. Think Yellowstone, Little House on the Prairie style in a Dallas (tv show) setting. You get a grand, broad spectrum of characters, interweaving storylines, some life drama, a few bad guys trying rain on the parade, and most importantly faith. Not just your dusty Bible sitting on the shelf faith. Real tangible, attainable faith. Mandi doesn’t shy away from hard topics or the guilt, pain, and regret that results from them. She also takes a bold stance on how faith is forgiving and redeeming. A faith that is found in and on Jesus. Great series! If you like clean swoony romance with lots of characters and real life stories then you’ll love this.

3.5 ⭐️ Having read the Blackwater Ranch series by Mandi Blake, I was SO excited to begin this new one. Jameson was a part of the Blackwater books, so he was not a stranger —especially in book six which was probably my favorite!
Just like in the preceding series, the author did a fantastic job of making the reader feel at home on Wolf Creek Ranch. The characters are well developed/relatable and you leave feeling like you’ve made friends. Ava’s grandpa was a favorite for sure and reminds me of my own grandfather ❤️
Jamison has had some tough stuff to overcome (it’s mentioned in Redeeming the cowboy and here also) and Ava is no different. I love the themes of redemption and forgiveness woven through this story. Sin always hurts more than just the offender, but Jesus offers hope…
There are some more mature themes and parts that I would not recommend it for teenage readers.
Reason for 3 star instead of 4: I skimmed most of the kissing explanation paragraphs as I felt it a bit over the top sometimes. But there was so many other sweet moments and the love story was sweet.

I would say this was around 3.5 stars for me. I liked it, but didn’t love it. I liked the storyline but insta-love is not my favorite.

This is the first book I’ve read by Mandi Blake but it won’t be my last! Ava & Jameson make a sweet couple. Ava is lost and trying to find her way. Jameson is strong and a born leader. I really like his character. There are some surprising twists and turns but I love how it all came together!

Ava's memories of her long-ago visit to her grandfather's ranch are very sweet - until the ending where she was torn away from the man she's never forgotten. Since then, though, her mother has kept her busy right under her thumb. When her grandfather calls asking her to visit and help out for a while following a stroke, she drops everything and goes. But she never expected to find Jameson still there, and now foreman. They both still feel the attraction, but her life is back in the city - isn't it? Should she decide to move, she'll have to face her mother's wrath... When long-buried secrets begin to surface, Ava must decide who to believe and what she wants her own life to look like.
The start of a new series! I'd have to say that after such a start, I'm looking forward to seeing who else on the ranch is going to find their happily ever after in this series. In the meanwhile, though, this was an enjoyable read, as long as you can largely ignore Ava's dictatorial mother... It was good watching Ava gradually find her feet and her way in life, as well as seeing her and Jameson get back together again. I also enjoyed getting to know the various other inhabitants of the ranch, and look forward to seeing more of them in future. A good read.

After sitting on my thoughts for this book, I think a 3.5 star rating is the best I can think of to express my thoughts. I enjoyed the book and the characters, but something was missing.
As I thought about it, I finally figured it out. It was the jumping ahead in time by days, weeks, or months. I felt like we didn’t get to see a lot of the story. I didn’t get to grow with the characters.
It seems like a great start to a series though. I can’t wait to see what Blake and Everly’s story is like. I will say I think this ended up being a palette cleanser for me. I will probably wait to jump into the second book.

Mandi's Blackwater Ranch series is one of my favorites of all time, and when I found out she writing a sort of "spin off" series from it, I couldn't wait! Jameson was a character that intrigued me right from his first introduction at the start of the Blackwater Ranch books, so this book was extra anticipated for me, as I couldn't wait to see him get his own story.
I've developed pretty high expectations over the years when it comes to Mandi Blake's book releases, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm never disappointed. I honestly wish more and more authors would write straight from the heart the way she does, and I love how every single one of her books has felt like I could personally connect with it.
Truth is a Whisper is the first title in her brand new Wolfcreek Ranch series, and while it's definitely different than anything she's done before, it's already a new favorite for me. Jameson and Ava's relationship has started off with nothing but obstacles as the two of them meet when Ava meets her grandfather for the first time at her grandmother's funeral, having never known the two of them before due to her mother's estrangement. Jameson works for her grandfather, and the two fall quickly for each other, but of her course her mother forbids it and they're not sure if they'll ever find their way back to each other.
When Ava returns to the ranch a few years later, she's surprised that Jameson is still working for her grandfather, and even more surprised that he seems to still want a relationship with her. As Ava tries to navigate the big changes in her life, she must come to terms with what caused the separation between her grandfather and mother in the first place, and must deal with the shocking events that come as a result.
From start to finish, this beautifully written Christian romance was one I could barely bring myself to put down, and wow I never wanted it to end. It made me both ugly cry, and laugh out loud, and I loved how realistic Ava's journey to find Jesus was. This book was pretty much everything I was hoping for and more, and I'm so excited to read more books in the series in the future as I literally loved the large cast of secondary characters, and I can't wait to see each of them play a bigger part in future stories.
If you haven't yet read one of Mandi's many amazing books, Truth is a Whisper is a great one to start with, and definitely reads both authentically and realistically, and is a heartwarming romance that I can't possibly recommend enough.

Loved Jameson and Ava! Honestly, from the glimpses of Jameson in the Blackwater Ranch series, I thought he might be a jerk, but wow, he was a sweetheart! Watching Ava blossom out from under her mother’s thumb was beautiful, too.
There’s really big redemption and salvation arcs there Blake handled well. The ending more have felt a bit rushed, but it was still a great read!

This was such a sweet and emotional read. I loved Ava and Jameson's story. They are adorable. I loved watching Ava stand up for herself and show confidence in her choices. Even though there was pain and sorrow associated with it. It made me so happy that she had Jameson and her grandfather to love and support her and help her feel of great worth.
I loved how it all played out and came full circle. The Christian elements in it were really sweet. The characters do talk openly about their relationship with God and with attending church and how that has helped them in their lives.
Content: Clean. Christian fiction elements. Some kisses but nothing further. Discussion of a child being conceived out of wedlock but nothing graphic.
I listened to the audiobook. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

For Ava, it was the place she fell in love and felt happy . As much as Jameson wanted Ava to stay, he had nothing to offer , and her mother’s psychological abuse, won over.
When Ava’s grandfather calls her for help, she chooses to go against her mother’s wishes, and leaves Denver .
From the moment Ava and Jameson meet again, it felt like they might have a chance this time around.
But what happens when Ava’s mother threatens her livelihood? What happens when secrets are revealed?

This new series start is a wonderful read about being brave, embracing love and forgiving those who have hurt you deeply.
Ava was so unconsciously broken by her mother’s demanding treatment of her that she didn’t even believe she was lovable anymore. Mandi did such a great job of conveying Ava’s pain and longing without making her whiny or annoying at all. I honestly felt like I needed to jump into the story and give her mother what-for. Thankfully, Jameson was there to do it for me 😍 And when she finally gets brave enough to no longer be bullied….whoa! Look out world! Ava’s ready to make her mark!
Jameson has loved Ava since she came to Wyoming six years ago for her grandmother’s funeral. He’s finally got another chance to win her heart - for good this time, if only Ava will let him. Jameson is such a good guy. He’s responsible, smart, kind and he teaches Ava that she can decide what life can be when she’s ready for it. He never makes her feel small nor is he disrespectful to her overbearing mother. He points her to Jesus to help her see her worth and how much she is loved. Definitely the kind of champion we all need in our lives.
This book had all the things I love in a romance - good characters, no insta-love, good conversations, a little suspense to keep things interesting and a love story that is beautifully swoony. I certainly recommend you put this lovely book on your TBR ASAP and settle in for a story that will leave you cheering. I’m definitely looking forward to where Mandi is going to go next with this series. The teaser epilogue was just enough to get me excited for the next book.

I loved this sweet romance! The Wolf Creek Ranch setting really draws you in as a reader! The close knit group of characters make it easy to invest in the story! I just want to hang out with the ranch workers and be part of the crew…ok, minus the work and the barn smell! Jameson was the perfect steadfast hero! He was kindness and unwavering love personified! I really enjoyed the bold faith themes of forgiveness and redemption that were written into this story. Mandi Blake is somehow able to take a hard to like character and make you root for her change of heart! The last bit of the book was intense and will keep you on your toes with a bit of danger! I really enjoyed this story and cannot wait for the next book in the series! There just might be a teaser at the end of this book and it made me want more!!! Fans of clean contemporary romance will enjoy Truth is a Whisper!

Who doesn't love a good cowboy as a hero!? And Mandi Blake has crafted a wonderfully swoony cowboy in Truth is a Whisper! I mean, he was loyal, dependable, had great work ethic, and just the way he sort of pined over Ava...... yeah all the heart eyes here.

I am in the minority here, but to me this book was way too insta lovey. We didn't get the character build up or slower pace of a romance. The characters just jumped right back in as if 6 years hadn't passed. Sorry, but I feel there should have been conversations that didn't happen and others (like her relationship with her mother) dragged on for the majority of the story. That sub plot took away from the romance aspect. All in all the plot had potential to be a good one but fell flat for me. Then we have another sub plot that was so random and thrown in for like 2 chapters that had me like , "What is going on here!?". Not trying to bash this book by any means. Just want to help anyone who may be on the fence about it.

This was the first book I've read from Mandi Blake and it totally lived up to my expectations. I loved that Mandi weaved her Christian faith into this romance without going overboard and that it had the perfect amount of sweet kisses.
I loved that this was somewhat like a second chance romance of Ava and Jameson being able to meet again and that they were able to pick up where they had left off 6 years before. I loved Jameson and his dedication and protectiveness of Ava. I loved that Ava found courage and a way to stay on her own two feet because she knew Jameson was always behind and supporting her.
This book had such a great romance, but I also loved the secondary story of forgiveness and redemption. I loved that we got to see characters change, grow, and forgive one another.
If you are looking for an uplifting book full of love, a bit of suspense, faith, and just an overall great story give this one a go!

After reading this book, the first in a new series, I can’t wait to read the next book! Jameson and Ava’s story is a wonderful journey of self discovery and a sweet, clean romance. They met years before on Ava’s first visit to her grandparents ranch, on the occasion of her grandmother’s funeral. Then, Ava had been devastated by her grandmother’s death, even though she had never been given the chance to meet her. Jameson had been the one person who had given comfort and made her feel special. Their parting had been difficult, heartwrenching and forced by her controlling mother who couldn’t wait to escape back to city and away from the family ranch. Any chance to communicate with other afterwards was thwarted by her mother.
Now, an unexpected call from her grandfather spurs Ava to take time away from her job as her mother’s assistant to visit her grandfather and the ranch again. Learning of his stroke has made her determined to spend time with her grandfather and get to know him before it becomes to late, like it was with her grandmother. Seeing Jameson, now the ranch foreman, again is both unexpected and welcome. Neither has forgotten the other, nor have their hearts. Even the constant needling and harassment from her mother does not lessen Ava’s resolve to spend time with her grandfather and Jameson. An adorable story of second chances
First of all, cowboy heroes in romance novels are one of my weaknesses. And Jameson definitely delivered. Overall I really enjoyed this story. I had a slightly tough time settling into the groove of the book as I was transitioning over from a few back to back rom com reads, but I'd say that's more on me than the author. Once I got into it, I really started to enjoy it. I was really intrigued by just what the heck was Linda's problem and what secrets she was holding on to so tightly. Well that made for a good reveal! Ava really grew in confidence throughout the book, which was great to see. I also felt like the faith elements blended seamlessly into the rest of the story. I definitely plan to continue on to the rest of the books in the series.

I loved Jameson and Ava's story. I admired Jameson's unwavering love, concern and compassion for Ava, and for others on the ranch, and for the graciousness he extended to Linda who, at the start, I really wanted to dislike because of her meanness to Ava and the trouble she brought to the ranch. I loved Ava's enthusiasm as she blossomed at the ranch and with Jameson. Sweet and inspiring romance. Brilliant series starter.

Ava and Jameson are adorable. Even though they spent years apart, Jameson becomes undone when she shows up again. And Ava grew so much living with her grandpa. She just blossomed.
At first, I thought this book would mostly be about a couple finding each other again. And it did have that. But it was so much about Ava's growth as a person. And not just her. It really took me by surprise the direction Ms Blake took the story. But I loved it!!

Adored this book
If you've read the Blackwater Ranch series then you already adore Jameson. I knew it'd take a special girl to win his heart and Ava is just that.
Ava's journey in this book is beautiful from her growth in confidence to her growth in faith it's all around gorgeously written.
Jameson is stalwart and steady and he did have some growth on his own and I loved that too.
The whole family was amazing and I adored every heartfelt moments and healing conversation.

What a beautiful story of second chances and forgiveness! It’s always great to see a tired trope revamped in such a great way. I enjoyed this couple’s story from start to finish. The plot moved steadily along, pulling me along with it. It was easy to put myself in these characters’ shoes. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for clean, contemporary, inspirational romance starring cowboys and strong heroines. This series is gonna be great! Now, on to book two…

Ava had spent all her life trying to please her mother Linda – an impossible task no matter how much Ava did. Jameson knew how toxic her relationship with her mother was, as his had been no better. Jameson and Ava had had a short relationship many years earlier when she visited her mother’s parents ranch for the funeral of the grandmother she had never met. Now Ava is trapped in a job she didn’t like, having never finished college and is now her mum’s assistant (read slave) at the TV station. When Ava gets a phone call from her grandfather telling her he was recovering from a stroke and asking her to visit, Ava takes a week’s leave and much to her mother’s fury, goes back to the ranch she had only visited once before, not knowing Jameson was now foreman. What I liked about this book was the realness of the characters, Ava was torn between what she wanted and what her mother wanted – leaving an abusive and manipulative relationship is never easy, and trusting others can be hard. Jameson too had his self doubts from his upbringing, but his Christian faith was strong as was his work ethic and desire to help others. Being a longer book, this story had depth, it wasn’t a quick ‘fall in love and live happily ever after’, Ava had to work through her fears and learn to trust those around her – and their God. I loved the storyline, the characters and the setting. I received an ARC but this review is my own.

Ava was lost, stuck in a situation working with her controlling mother, not really happy. The call from her grandfather that she barely knew gives her a reason to escape to Wolfe Creek Ranch and discover a life she never knew she wanted with a man who only wants her happiness. But she's torn between duty to a mother and herself. Even though Jameson is young he has a take charge hardworking way about that makes it easy to see why he became foreman. He has a week to convince Ava to stay this time. I had a bad feeling about Dane from the beginning, who provides suspense to the story. Reading this book made me realize how much I would love to vacation on a ranch someday, riding the horses, going on trails, and spending time with people who welcome you.
