Unfortunately this one really didn’t do it for me. It just too forced. Too fake. I mean, the main character’s name is Candy Cane, for heavens sake.
This is the fourth and final book in a series about a cute little town called Lovestruck, Vermont. The first three books followed three of the four firefighters in this town. And then this book follows… the town doctor? Who signed off on that? What happened to the fourth firefighter?
I’ve enjoyed this author before and was really looking forward to the last of this series. Sadly though, this book felt like a first draft. There were so many weird inconsistencies in the plot or just odd ways of phrasing things that made me feel like this book needed an editor’s pass. Oh well. I guess you can’t win ‘em all.
What if you worked on Hallmark Christmas movies, and then ended up in one? That's what happens to Candy Cane, and assistant producer for a channel's Christmas movies, when she becomes gaurdian to her late cousin's infant daughter, Faith. Put on temporary vacation so she can figure out how to take care of Faith without Faith being at the movie set, Candy goes from sunny California to snowy Lovestruck, Vermont, where she spent her last happy Christmas before her parents died. And the memory of a wonderful kiss with a boy in the town's gazebo, with snow softly falling, adds to the memories. But the reality is a rented duplex, with a cranky landlord, Dr. Dan Manning, who tries to live up to his Ebenezer Scrooge, Grinchy demeanor about Christmas. Will Candy have the Christmas of her dreams with Faith, or will it be coal in the stocking?
Teri Wilson writes the kind of books that make go awww, sweet and tender romances that warm my heart. In Merry Christmas, Baby we get to meet Candy, a diehard romantic who loves Christmas, and Dr. Dan, who is cranky and would rather just skip the holiday altogether. It was a treat to go along with them as Candy slowly wore down his defenses, not just for the holiday, but to open his heart to love. The setting of a small town in Vermont added the perfect amount of wintery atmosphere!
A sweet and funny romantic conclusion to the Lovestruck, Vermont series. Teri Wilson has outdone herself in describing this Christmas themed romance between Dr. Dan & Candy Cane. Thoroughly enjoyable. Soon to be a Christmas movie I hope. Merry Christmas!
