When Paula runs into the ex-love of her life, she believes it’s fate. When he introduces his new fiancée, Paula thinks fate should get fired. And when her ex has the nerve to ask what’s going on in her life, she does what any reasonable person would do, she lies.
Her musician neighbor is willing to play the fake boyfriend. He just needs a tiny favor in return. Piece of cake, he tells her. Nothing to worry about.
Paula sets off to deliver an antique instrument, but ends up stranded in the desert with a homeless dog, an impossible deadline, and ancient motorhome. Only a miracle could get her home. When the miracle shows up looking like a Greek god in a Levi’s ad, staying on schedule becomes the least of Paula’s problems...

This is Andrea Buck's first book. Usually, I am apprehensive of first books. They are either very great or mostly a waste of time. "Off Schedule" is the unusual first book. Andrea Buck wrote a fun filled book of quirky characters who somehow I thought I had met. A trip from Vancouver, Canada to Las Vegas has surprising and funny turns...sorta like life.
A Light yet meaningful book. The editing was quite well done, the dialogue true to the characters, and grammar and spelling were above par. This is not a genre that I usually choose. I am glad that I did however. It was a refreshing antidote to the mundane pace of every day life.
Off Schedule is definitely a "feel good" book. I loved it and couldn't put it down. The characters work so well together. The story is a fairy tale come true, as we all wish for. I highly recommend you read it, and I look forward to more from Andrea Buck. Thanks to Goodreads First Reads for my copy of Off Schedule.
There's so much telling me what's going on instead of showing me and immersing me in the story, that I found the book hard to plow through. This book was a long way from delivering on its promise.
A cute story with a different story line. Would you make a fast trip across country to deliver a package for a friend? Our female character does and finds a new life. I specially liked this story because of the animal rescue part of it.
Andrea Buck's debut novel is a fun road trip that combines poignancy with laugh-out-loud humor. I especially enjoyed Paula's character arc throughout her wacky trek in the Winnebago. Definitely a "pairs with fine wine" read.
I enjoyed “Off Schedule” so much! The story was uplifting and fun and the main characters were interesting, especially Rita, who reminds us to tune in to our lives and listen to our hearts.
Happy endings all around, including Luna and Toto!
I love a road trip, this was a bit different Paula is headed to Lake Tahoe from Canada in her dad's old RV. She picks up a stranger and things change dramatically. Truly a fun read I really enjoyed.
A trip from Vancouver, Canada to Las Vegas, Nevada in an RV toting along a antique instrument sounds like a recipe for either disaster or for adventure. When you add in a little old lady, a stray dog, and a whole bunch of unplanned pit stops, it makes for a quirky and fun read.
This book is labelled as a romantic comedy but I found it very light on both. It was a fun and heart warming read regardless, with likeable zaney characters.
The writing is rather simple and for a book that involves a 10 day road trip, I’d like for a bit more details on the scenery. There are a few sub plots that keeps things interesting as far fetched as they are.
A fun read for a beach day, rain day or a road trip! Will definitely be looking for more books from this new author.
