About the author

Konami Kanata (jp. こなみかなた), is a Japanese cartoonist best known for her cat characters Chi's Sweet Home. Her works revolves around the daily life of house cats.

She went to Futaba-Kōtō Academy in Suwa, Nagano Perfecture. Her first published manga as a profesional manga-ka was the short story Puchi Neko Jamu Jamu in Nakayoshi Manga Magazine in 1982. The magazine is a part of Kodansha Publishing, in which she published her works ever since her first debut.

Sue & Tai-chan, Vol. 3 (My Kindle Review)

Our cat duo is currently getting more lively and jumpy while we get a big surprise while seeing a lonely Sue by herself for a while.

The fun comes back though and the holidays arrive, with Tai having a wonderful dream playing with a kitten who looks awfully familiar.

I really loved this volume! Tai-Chan is sooooo adorable! I also thought that Sue and Tai-Chan's friendship really blossomed with this volume, which made me enjoy it that much more. I adore cat mangas like these, especially since I can't have a cat of my very own, so it is nice to live vicariously through these stories. I'm excited to see what volume four will bring to the series.

It was adorable, but the art style was so DIFFERENT from what I expected from a manga, which this book supposedly was. It read left to right and had really thin lines. It was still a good book tho

Now that Sue and Tai-chan have bonded, they’ve started to settle into their natural routines together as Tai-chan continues to learn how to be a cool cat. Sue continues to teach, resulting in Tai-chan’s kitten energy flying missing the point and flying the stairs, pouncing, and pretending to do something other than trying to find the secret snack stash. Unfortunately for them, Tai-chan’s real owner arrives to take him home, leaving Sue with nothing but time on her hands.

This series is such a cute, light, and fluffy feel-good read that I’m always excited to read more. This time around, we see how much Sue and Tai-chan’s bond has come along when Tai-chan’s real owner arrives to take him home. We go from seeing them together, even when Sue’s sleep is being disturbed, to Sue trying to adjust to life without her new best bud. I knew that the story wouldn’t end here and that they would be reunited because this is an ongoing series, but it was so cute to see how they return to each other’s lives as well as how excited they are to see each other. I was really touched by their bond.

As always, the art is both adorable and really drives home the story telling. There’s many adorable and funny moments, making it a memorable light and fluffy read that’s good for families or days where one may just need a pick-me-up. These books always cheer me up whether or not I need cheering because they’re just so cute and happy. It makes me excited every time I pick up a new volume.

Absolutely loved the chapter where the two cats are basically playing Red Light Green Light as they try to sneak up on the human with a treat. Also loved the sequence where Tai-chan had to go home -- but never fear, the two can't be separated for long! The chapter where Tai-chan has to choose between sleeping or eating, falling asleep while he's trying to nosh, is adorable as well. Even the quieter chapters, as when the two cats deal with the changing seasons while trying to get warm, are lovely. There's a Christmas chapter as well.

Beautifully cartooned and a real pleasure to read. Oh! I almost forgot to mention the chapter where Sue dreams she's a kitten again! Something older readers can relate to, I'm sure. All the enjoyment of watching cats be cats, without any of the mess.

Tai-chan's owner comes back to pick up his kitten. At first, Sue is thrilled to have her owner and house to herself again. But could it possibly be she misses Tai-chan? And could he possibly miss Sue?

Sue and Tai-chan and cute, relaxing (for readers anyway), and entertaining cats to spend time with. Such a feel good story, with plenty of cute kitty antics. This is manga in style, but the book does read American style (front to back and left to right), which I like for a manga that could be picked up by anyone from 4 to 104. Hand this to your favorite cat lover, they will be in your debt. 😉

I needed this book today. It's just so beautifully heartwarming. I don't know if it's actually better than the first two installments or it just felt that way, but I know the kiddo and I laughed harder at the jokes and were so invested we read the whole thing in two sittings. And the only reason it wasn't one was because we wanted to try and make it last at least a little while longer knowing that the wait until 4 is going to feel like forever. Feel free to place a copy inside a glass box with a tiny hammer and a sign saying, "Break glass in case of bad mood."

Tai-chan's owner shows up and takes him away and Sue is left to figure out if she misses the little guy or not... Oh, who are we kidding, Tai-chan is adorable and of course Sue misses him. So their adventures continue to include stairs, bonito flakes, good napping spots, a few holidays, and cherry blossoms.

But Tai-chan has spotted a stranger in the house. Again, if you like cat antics, you'll love this series.

Even if you are an older cat, living with a mischievous kitten, you are going to get into lots of trouble. But fun too!
And looks like a third cat is going to show up in book 4!
I really like how he owner keeps very serene for the most part, in the middle of the mischiefs this pair is up to!
I also like the few elements related to Japanese culture, especially for the end of the year in this book. And of course, we have cherry blossoms, in another season!

I'm LOVING this kawaii series of an adorable, full of life, kitten spending his days learning about life, while looking to the settled, knowledgeable cat in the house. Good gosh it's just too cute and it's written really well with lovely illustrations. Think I'll be buying this series soon, have been borrowing from the local library ≧◡≦

Tai-chan is just as playful as usual and Sue tries to keep up. Such a cute story of two cats in the same house. I thoroughly love how the art style matches Tai-chan's energy with a mix of Sue's mellow.

Tai-chan continues to be so cute. We meet his real owner (I can't remember if we were told it was temporary or this has been sprung on us) but I love that when Tai-chan ends up back with Sue even the owner is like "We'll try again another time" and just leaves him there.

This one’s been my favorite so far! I loved that we got some substance with Tai-chan’s former owner coming to retrieve him. But that didn’t last long. Also, Sue’s dream about being a kitten was precious. Can’t wait to read the next one.
