I bought this almost 2 years ago, and only decided to read all the unread books on my shelf.

Honestly, some good parts. Alot of the time you should really think deep about your past for what it was and not how it felt.

However, I think around half way, you kind of get it. You know that your self perception is learned and you already know the full story of these case studies. Obviously, it would’ve been because you read them all at once, but you almost knew what was coming outside the therapists mouth.

I came to this looking for confidence in myself in social circles, and relationships, as, while at school, never had to meet new people until 18, and never (even 3 years later) had a girlfriend, so when i first joined university my confidence was at an all time low.

This wasn’t because i had some past schema bringing me down, (although in retrospective there was), but because I never learned how to, not from my friends nor parents, only knowing 3 years later.

I see this book as covering things that ‘has’ happened, rather than things that ‘has not’ happened. I felt mildy disappointed to finally get to the section about love, to find out that it wasn’t relevant at all.

Overall, the book had good things to think about within myself, but things I wanted to look more towards weren’t as present.

Love the Speakmans. It's been a while since I read/listened to these books so listening to them again and gaining the reminder of being positive with myself has been a huge help this week to go along with the brilliant week I have had with my daily routine
