Ellen Anderson started life near Sedona, Arizona, surrounded by the most beautiful scenery the West has to offer, along with its intricate history and myriad legends. Her favorite memories are of camping out on the family property under the vast canopy of stars, listening to her father and grandfather tell stories. Eventually, Ellen began writing her own stories, mixing her up-close-and-personal western experiences with special characters who share her unique sense of fun and adventure.
When she met her handsome husband on a horse drive, her path to writing historical western romances was sealed.
Today, Ellen and her husband still do some work on the family ranch, and their children are following in the family tradition, helping care for the Anderson horses. In her spare time, Ellen enjoys photography, swimming, trying out unique historical recipes from scratch and exploring ghost towns in the family RV.
Veronica is a sheriff of a small town about an hour from Cripple Creek. Her father was sheriff, but he passed away. Her three brothers were never interested, so Veronica took the position. Her town is used to seeing her wear men’s clothing and to have the authority of sheriff.
Trent is sheriff of Cripple Creek. I had wondered from a previous book, when there was a serious crime committed, why a sheriff was never contacted or even mentioned. Anyway, Trent had gotten word of a group of vicious bandits decimating towns and that they were headed his way. He sent letters to neighboring towns asking for help to fight the war that was impend. The only answer he got was from Veronica.
Lots and lots of action and even some gruesome scenes. But plenty of romance at the end!
This story of two towns joining law enforcement groups to counter an attack by robbers injects a very interesting situation. As Veronica and Trent meet, each the sheriff of their respective towns, there seems something sparking an interest to each of them. But how could this ever work out given the distance and each of them having a solid commitment to their own community. A tender and sweet romance - just when you think this can never work - a strange question arises. What will the answer be?
