When mysterious new teachers arrive to lay down the law at notoriously naughty Bash Street School, Dennis, Gnasher and friends finally gave a test they simply can’t afford to fail…
This book was a simple but fun read. As a child, I grew up on the Beano and the Dandy comics, as did my mother in her day. Even though, it is a children’s book, I recommend it to any adult craving Beano nostalgia.
Craig Graham and Mike Stirling’s funny novel for readers aged 8+ (the first in a new spin-off series from the Beano comic with great illustrations by Nigel Parkinson) has a more modern, diverse Beantown with less corporal punishment than when I read the comic but that’s definitely no bad thing and it retains its core of anti-authoritarian silliness and pranks. It would particularly suit kids who love the comic but are reluctant to tackle books.
The Battle for Bash Street School by Craig Graham; Mike Stirling. When mysterious new teachers arrive to lay down the law at notoriously naughty Bash Street School, Dennis, Gnasher and friends finally face a classroom test they simply can’t afford to fail. Really enjoyed this. Brilliant read. Loved Dennis Gnasher and the gang. 5*.
A nice casual read perfect for kids who love all things Beano! As an adult who loved the comic when I was younger this was a fun read that wasn't too taxing, it's mad how the Beano has changed since I used to read it but definitely for the good and survival of a British classic!
