April and Thomas continue on their hotwifing journey, with another thoroughly indecent, but lucrative, proposal from April's voyeuristic benefactor. But as they stretch the boundaries of their marriage, Thomas senses that he is losing of April's actions, of himself, and of his own dark fantasies. Is his wife the same April he married? Or have they really gone too far?Worse has April gone too far, all by herself?
This third and final book continues where the last left off, with puppet master Lilith enabling April’s slutty side. April is now out of control the shy, young wife has now been turned into a professional porn star.
With Johnny, Rog, and other well-endowed guys from Lilith’s stud farm constantly partying with April and plying her with stimulants to remove her few remaining inhibitions, she is changing into a mini-Lilith.
Lilith has also seen through Thomas’s angst and worked out his biggest fantasy and fear, which is something he has yet to admit to himself, and that is for April to all-out cheat on him. The constant tussle between just letting it happen and wanting to be there to see or stop it leads him into some tricky situations.
Then April gets another outrageous but lucrative proposition from the kinky billionaire Mr. Smith.
Will Thomas or April finally call a halt to this game or their relationship?
The emotions and anxieties are raw, as most definitely is the sex. A must-read series.
I enjoy Arnica's writing a lot but I detested this book 110%.
I was worried it was a waste of time and it was... it also pissed me off. Why it pissed me off I'm not completely sure of yet. Maybe because there was so much secrecy/deception/deflection between husband, wife and Lillith. Seriously, just answer the fucking question you were asked. "um, uh, should we do it? I don't know. Is this too much? are you sure? are you angry?" forfucksakes.
The dialog, internal and external, was tortuous to read. I was done with the way it was written part way through the first book.
The characters only grew in how more irrational, greedy and inconsistent their decisions became, motivations were unclear.
The sex scenes didn't evolve compared to anything that happened in the second book. It was repetitive like a gonzo porn movie; position 1, position 2, position 3, position 4, finish, blow kiss at the camera, fade to black.
If you are still interested in reading this series after my poor review, read the first book and until the end of chapter 3 of the second. That part of the story was fantastic... then it dropped off a cliff.
This is a wonderful story, with this Book 3 being a combination of the first Books emotional tension and wild sex from Book 2.
So I gave it 5 Stars as a summary of all three books. However I almost downgraded it to a 4 , because of unfinished business at the end. Start or stop was the main emotion throughout the series and unfortunately it never gets resolved.
After a major episode of sex near the end, all we are told is that they decided to take a pause. Of course they’d done that before and came back to the game. Now at the end of the story we don’t honestly know whether their marriage can survive all of this or not.
If you’re going to write a story that takes up 3 volumes and the second most important thread of the story is his stress, I feel that you need to complete that part.
All we know now is that she’s going to restart her sexual escapades and that they never had the meaningful conversation first. It was another no thought decision of hers and that doesn’t breed well for their long term relationship.
I sure wish that we had a Book 4 to tidy up the marriage situation. It would have been a joy to read.
But yet this was pretty damn good reading as it went. It just ended too soon.
Very interesting 3 books. I realize they are storys but I find it difficult to believe that a man would want to see his wife taken by another man. This guy was sick
(this review will cover all three books in the series )
So, let’s get this out of the way first. I think Arnica Butler is a great writer and I really like a lot of her work. But yes, not this one.
I’ll just list a few of the reasons:
Way way too long. By the time I got to book three I had forgotten how it all started.
Seventy percent of the words were the husband’s self talk.
It was hard to connect with the husband or wife. The wife especially was unlikable.
Only once or twice in all three books did she say the words ‘I love you”. And her interaction with her husband was uncaring and brittle. (I don't know if Arnica does it on purpose or what. But in most of her books she doesn't write her couples with much of a loving bond or connection )
There were numerous plot points that never got resolved.
As for the sex, the wife left “no holes unbarred”. So over the top, that it wasn't erotic but basically just porn.
The wife's friend, who instigated the wife's decent into slutdom and tormented the husband, was never held responsible. Her character is a dispectble villain.
The ending was unsatisfying with no real resolution for the wife’s behavior or the husband's angst.
The story could have been told in one book. It was so repetitive that I scanned and skipped a great deal of it.
Sorry, I guess the review sounds harsh. But I had to be honest .
Thought the final edition of April’s journey would have been a better finish; but alas, that wasn’t the case. Oh well, these all had fascinating subplots, but ultimately, it seemed they went back to where they started.
A good but frustrating read, ultimately disappointing. It left me with too many questions, and, in the end, not caring about either the husband or the wife, much less about the rest of the book's cast. Why does she stay with this alcoholic husband, so jaded that the only way he can get excited is by watching her with other guys, scenes that are, I admit, hot but soon become repetitive, as do his perennial divided feelings and desires about it. To be sure, there are no better men around her, just a small set of central casting studs to perform with for her husband's thrill. Her mysteries remain--who is she? what does she honestly feel about anything or anyone? The mysteries are never resolved, nor even truly explored. Ditto, regarding her bestie friend, a fascinating character, a Mephistopheles more interesting than the husband or wife, who, fundamentally, are passive, puppets for the bestie. Another thing that doesn't happen is that he never changes, such as by hitting a wall where he says to himself, "I've seen this movie before. I'm tired of it and her." She never changes, too. Probably, I'm expecting too much from the book. Still, it would have been great if a few of those expectations had been satisfied.
I like stories where I like and respect the characters. If they’re ‘baddies’, I can get into them. The drama can be addictive.
With porn, I prefer couples porn where everybody plays. I’m not a fan of cheating wives.
The April trilogy has a group of characters that are really difficult to like.
The Husband is a drunk. He solves his marriage problems by sitting with a bottle while he beats off.
His darling, pristine wife, April Snow, gives the illusion that butter won’t melt in her mouth, but she fucks everything that moves, so long as it’s behind hubby’s back. She slipped up once and did it in front of him while he watched.
Everybody was happy with it, but none of them learned anything from it.
It started with a bartender in Mexico. He didn't call her on it, and it never stops.
Her girlfriend is a drug supplier and a pimp. She pimps April out whenever she can. She enjoys teasing Hubby at every opportunity.
The more you read, the more deceptive this group becomes. The husband can’t assert himself. He Doesn’t have the cajónes. He would rather get drunk. If this man is a Lawyer, he can't argue his way out of a paper bag.
Even with all the sex scenes, the relationship between April and Tommy Boy is never covered. He clearly doesn’t satisfy her. Maybe that justifies all the teasing. April knows what Tommy fantasizes. His erections give her all the excuse she needs to tease him. Plus,.. she gets satisfied by some black studs.
All the angst is in Tommy’s head. Tommy worries about April trusting him. Trust,,. She kicks dirt on that daily. Trust is earned. April earns nothing. The two sluts, both the pimp and the whore, tease hubby constantly.
I bought all three book. I had hopes the ‘issues’’ would resolve. The sex is volcanic.
Don’t expect an amicable resolution. Yet, he only loses his temper once, when a promised video of her debauchery is denied him. That's the only time he reacts like a man.
The animosity is pointless. It does not improve the excitement of the tale. The story would have been better if they were working for a common goal. He loved the idea of her screwing everything in sight. He just wanted her to do it on his terms, Not Lillith's. Instead, lying and deceit abound.
Lillith turns her into a whore who uses her cunt to make money. This set is almost as bad as the Zoe series.
A magnificent trilogy! Thomas Roberts was strikingly associated with me and it seemed to me that I was reading the diary of my adventures and my wife. When I wasn't reading, the plot wouldn't let me go and made me think about the scenes I'd read. My brain melted and froze several times from excitement and pain. Now I have a desire to buy and read all Arnica's books. Lilith is a wonderful character and I want to meet her again. Today I am happy that I have read this trilogy and I am sure that after a pause I will want to read it again, editing it to suit my fantasies. 15 well-deserved stars for three books.
I loved this series. As much as I enjoyed following along with the husband's point of view and the general lack of information available to him about what April is thinking or feeling or even the general story of her past, what I really want is a fourth book where we finally find the answers to all of April's mysteries. Maybe it could even be from April's point of view.
