Can Reverend Margot Quade save that which is lost before it’s too late?
Spring has come to Port Marie, Vermont, shedding new light on old mysteries. Margot has discovered two sets of skeletal remains buried in the wall of the church basement. And even though her police officer cousin Sam warned her to stay out of the case, Margot can’t help herself. After all, it’s her church, her domain, and her responsibility to protect her flock.
Hoping for answers, Margot seeks out Conrad Baptiste, the former church Custodian, and becomes reacquainted with a loss from his past-- his teenage son who went missing twenty years ago has been identified as one of the bodies.
Then, when a new twist in the case has Margot digging into the disappearance of two other boys who looked eerily similar to Conrad’s son, a disturbing pattern is revealed. Now, with a fourth boy missing, Margot can’t sit this one out. She ignores Sam’s orders to stay away and races to the church, knowing that if she doesn’t get there in time, another boy’s life will be lost.
Will the good reverend be able to save him and solve the old mystery without losing her own life? Or has she dug a little too deep into the past to find her way out?

The Sacrificial Lamb is the second book in the Reverend Margot Quade Cozy Mystery series. This is a short cozy mystery but a great read. Margot has the unfortunate ability to come across bodies, this time entombed in the wall of the church basement. Then another teen goes missing. Will she be able to solve this crime and find the boy before it's too late?

Reverend Margot Quade is settling into Port Marie, Vermont and has taken over her new duties at the rectory. Things are not looking too good when the new custodian at the church finds water damage in the church basement and asks Margot to take a look. Margot notices the wall seems “off” and when a sledgehammer hits the wall for a closer inspection, she soon discovers the bones of two young males.
Looking to the former custodian for some answers when the police state the bones are from a body buried 20 and 10 years ago, Margot seems to open up old wounds and a missing person’s case from twenty years prior. When a boy in the parish goes missing, Margot sees a pattern and hopes that a serial killer is not on the loose. Can she find the boy before he sees the same fate as the others?
This is the second book in the new Reverend Margot Quade series but can be read as a stand-alone. It has the perfect mix of suspense, mystery, and great storytelling along with a likable heroine for the main character. I thoroughly am enjoying this series and can’t wait for more books to come.

Reverend Margot Quade starts her new life as a pastor of her church, but soon life - or death - gets in the way... Checking out storm damages at the church she realises a strange smell and follows it to a patch in the wall that has a slightly different colour and sound hollow. On asking her custodian to break a small hole - they find a dead body. Of course Margot is trying to find out what happened and in the process saves another life. A page turner, albeit a few logical mistakes, a fun read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Sacrificial Lamb is book 2 in the series. This book can be read as a stand alone since there were very few references to events that occurred in the first. True to form as in the first book, the storyline was a good blend of mystery and religion without being overpowered by religious teachings. There is an overall message that each book seems to have but it does not truly reveal itself until the end. This is a good read no matter your religious belief.

Margot is just beginning to get used to the old church being part of her new life when her young custodian discovered a leak in the basement. When they went to have a closer look, Margot noticed that part of the walls looked slightly different in colour and a strong smell of decay seemed to be coming from it. With a sledgehammer, they soon discover that the walls entombed a couple of decayed bodies.
A good read from Sarah Biglow, sad and poignant. Looking forward to Book 3.
As Margot is settling in to her new place as Minister she makes a discovery that uncovers a 20 yr old mystery. She finds herself investigating to keep others safe and to maybe stop a serial killer. This was a fun quick read. So far I have enjoyed both in the series and look forward to Margots next adventure.

Margot Quade is a young woman with an interesting life as a former armed forces chaplain and pastor of the church in the small town where she grew up. If those challenges aren’t enough she also solves local mysteries that drop on her. These short stories are well developed and very satisfying. All in just 65 pages!
Found in the wall in the basement are two small skeletons. They must be identified and the killer found. This is a very quick read. This was a tough one to get through since it does deal with the disappearance and death of young teens. It is handled well though.
