An arrange marriage and praise kink in spades
I didn’t realize how much I appreciated praise kink until this book. I wanna know when I’m being a good girl throughout the day too 🥺🤷🏻♀️lol (no, this does not have any daddy kink, so don’t worry about that).
Emilia (19) is a v and is expected to marry for political/mafia reasons. She’s given two choices: marry Matteo, an abusive man who caused her late sister distress, or marry Gio- a deadly boss who wants a submissive wife. Well, Emilia doesn’t want either of those choices, so she does the next best thing- RUN! 😅
Oh I love Emilia‘s feistiness and knack for doing what SHE wants and NOT what the male patriarchs in her family expect her to do. She’s not gonna sit idly by and take it anymore- she’s done with that, done with feeling insignificant, done with feeling like she doesn’t matter, and she’s gonna do whatever she needs to do. Her brother Renzo made my heart feel so much love! He’s SUCH a good brother 🥺❤️. He puts himself at risk for his sister, and I just wanna to hug him 😫 (side note- I also really loved Tommy and other side characters as well).
Does she get caught? Duh… Gio realizes how much her feistiness turns him on 😈 and I was here for those scenes. She might not be big like Gio, but she will fight him with every scratch that she can. But don’t you worry- he overpowers her every time 🥵. Man, those scenes were like catnip for me 🤤.
Is this slow burn? Yes 😬. Smex doesn’t happen until wayyyy later in the book, but I didn’t feel its absence. Why? Um… Because of all the delicious tension throughout the book😉. You put Emilia and Gio in a room together and you better expect to start feeling faint yourself 🔥 their chemistry is kindle-melting STEAMY 🥵. We have some edging😅, spanking, BREATH play, PRAISE kink🥰, solo-pleasing time, SPYING, throat-grabbing, blood play, shoot even knife play (no puncturing), and, most importantly, DIRTY TALK. GAHH Gio’s mouth is 💦. Lordt, jeeeezus, it is good!
And the way that Gio arranges some payback on Matteo was 😅👏🏻. Man, I love when an antihero is in the h’s corner 🥰🔥.
Although there’s a lot of chemistry that we feel with Emilia and Gio, there’s also the mafia stuff that Gio has to deal with.
ETA: I loooved Gio in the Kiss of Death Duet (which I just finished last week).
Does it end on a cliffhanger? Yes… although people might see it as an HFN.

A Vow of Lust and Fury is a fantastic enemies to lovers romance by L.P. Lovell. This is my first book by this author and definitely won't be the last and I'll be definitely looking for the conclusion to this story. It's a bit of a slow burn, but has TONS of chemistry between the two MCs. This is definitely a hate to love situation, especially on Emilia's side. She plans on fighting her arranged marriage like she's fighting for her life (which she thinks she is). The book is well written and action packed. The relationship does get to a HFN point, but the overall story ended on an expected cliffy.

May 31, 2022DNF @ 40% - I’m bored 🤷🏼♀️ - I don’t understand why the H is obsessed. I don’t understand why he cares if she “consents”… it just doesn’t make sense to me. He doesn’t know this girl but he’s been “craving her submission” and getting hard thinking about “her blood on his cock” since he found out he was supposed to marry her. That would be hot if they knew each other and this was something he wanted from HER, in particular, but she’s not much more than a bobble head at this point, and I don’t find that hot at all. She could be anyone. 🤷🏼♀️ Completely interchangeable. And her?? I don’t understand her beef either. She’s acting like she hasn’t grown up in the mafia. Like an enraged outsider…. And why she so mad at the H? He saved her and her brother. He’s a way better choice than the other guy she was threatened with. I’m just not getting why she’s fighting. It’s annoying. A Rebel Without a Cause. And the reason I’m moving on. 😬

This was slow burn mafia perfection with so much tension I was sweating.
I loved that this took a slightly different approach to the usual mafia arranged marriage. Yeah Gio is an asshole but he wants a wet and willing woman so the teasing and back and forth between him and Emelia was sooooo good and when they finally get into bed it's so worth it.
I rarely read duets or trilogies anymore but the slow burn in this duet has set the next book up perfectly.
This is a true slow burn though folks so if you are expecting sex at 30, 40, 50...80% you'll be disappointed but I think the tension and teasing is there so for me it didn't bother me.
I also loved that this book has a great mafia story to go a long with it and that Gio isn't just a dumb thug but is actually tactical in his approach to ending other mafia organisations.

I just love plunging into LP Lovell's books, I know I'll always have a wonderful time. A Vow of Lust and Fury delivered everything I was expecting, and then more: a tougher than nails heroine, a ruthless alpha hero, a plot that had me biting my lip.

2.65 ! There is a difference between being strong and feisty and just downright irritating and stupid. You can’t be former if you aren’t smart and wise about your acts of defiance or else you jus come out looking naive. The h was the latter one. Fighting and trying to run all the time doesn’t really make you a strong heroine. It’s quite the opposite actually. She came out as someone who had zero self preservation instincts. Running around in a clueless circle. Constantly whining. Such are the ones I’d call weak. Like sis practically think for yourself. No one expects you to shut up and bend over but be wise about your choices. She made the story less enjoyable tbh

Gio and Emilia wasn't an exception... They gave me such a rush that I never wanted for this story to end... And guess what??? It's not over yet!!! And I can not wait to see what will happen next cause these two were making my blood bump wildly!!!

Emilia can't do much other than go with him, but she is determined to fight him in every turn!!!

Gio didn't want to marry a mafia princess that he didn't even know... But he had too in order to protect his business and his crew...
He thought that he would take a compliant trophy wife, but he got a reckless and sassy girl who is determined to not submit to anyone, especially him.
Of course, Emilia's irritating behavior gives so much pleasure to Gio and he is determined to make her bend to his will no matter what it will take.

I loved these two very much!!!

Loved this book! The enemy to lovers was done brilliantly!
Gio is high class book boyfriend material, I would marry the guy tomorrow!
Emilia is scared, she's been trapped her hole life and doesn't know the meaning of the word give up!
Loved to see a little of Una and Nero life since they are one of my favorite couples ever!

This author always consistently delivers and this was another great read. It’s the first in a duet but the conclusion is already out and this doesn’t end on a major cliffhanger. It’s a mafia romance and I do appreciate this genre it’s one of my favourites. This is not really a dark read but does contain the usual violence that you would expect from this particular genre.
Giovanni is an underboss for the Famiglia and as part of an alliance with the Outfit agrees to an arranged marriage with Emilia apparently a compliment dutiful mafia princess. What he got was something completely different as his new fiancé leads him on a merry dance first running and then defying him at every turn. What was initially for Gio just supposed to be purely a business arrangement where he left his new young virgin bride untouched swiftly descended into an obsessive need to possess the defiant hellion she actually is.
This was actually such a good read the romance is relatively slow-burn but with plenty of build-up and sizzling tension. The chemistry is scalding and believable and Gio after an initially rocky beginning turns out to be completely protective and totally devoted to his new fiancé.
Emilia is totally stubborn and completely fearless sometimes quite recklessly. She’s carrying baggage and this definitely impacts her psyche making her sometimes act out of turn just because she’s afraid to give in. She’s far from naive and is actually quite cynical regarding her worth. She desperately wants her freedom but being a daughter to the outfit knows her options are limited.
There’s danger and betrayal and lots of mafia intrigue. I’m intrigued to discover what the next book will bring forth and to experience the conclusion to Gio and Emilia’s journey. There’s a war brewing and there’s going to be some serious fallout from it.

In LP Lovell's A Vow of Lust and Fury, rebellious principesa Emilia is handed over to Mafia boss Gio by her dickish family. Unlike others in this vein, Gio doesn't regale the reader with charming rape fantasies. No, he just wants an asexual little wifey to wait in the wings while he takes over NYC. So that's a nice change because the bar is on the floor for this genre. FYI This is 1st in a series and it ends on a cliffhanger. WTF?
Standard Mafia arranged marriage dark romance with a sus age gap. The traumatic backstory, the evil parents, the virgin h in the white lace panties, the BDSM-loving H who can't take a hint, the politics, the shoot outs, the blah blah blah you get it. It's an alright book to kill a few hours. The angst was a bit over the top for me.
Also Emilia's desire to escape pretty much immediately dissipates in the face of, you guessed it, the almighty D. Who can blame her? Any time I'm around a man, I forget everything including my ABCs and my mother's maiden name. I know all you ladies out there are the same. Fellas, that magical force emanating from your dangling participles could be the key to ending world hunger and curing cancer. We must figure out how to harness it!
The spice was low-key weird, not gonna lie. Reading about a grown ass man putting a teen over his knee and spanking her until she cries doesn't really do it for me. The spice level was you're eating some cheddar horseradish potato chips and having a fantastic time when some old man picks you up and dumps you in an icy algae-infested pond. And now you feel all wet and cold and slimy.

This book is a JP lover's wet dream. Mafia, age gap, arranged marriage.
Besides a writing style that i LOVE (seriously, the past month i've dnf'ed so many books because i'm so picky 🥴) and a great story, there's dirty talking, spanking, praise kink...ugh, Gio is PERFECTION. And he is obsessed with Emilia *cough* jacking off while watching her on camera *cough*
Emilia is a sassy, bratty virgin who hates everything mafia. Gio included of course.
It's slow burn, but the chemistry and sexual tension is sky high.

Besides a writing style that i LOVE (seriously, the past month i've dnf'ed so many books because i'm so picky 🥴) and a great story, there's dirty talking, spanking, praise kink...ugh, Gio is PERFECTION. And he is obsessed with Emilia *cough* jacking off while watching her on camera *cough*
Emilia is a sassy, bratty virgin who hates everything mafia. Gio included of course.
It's slow burn, but the chemistry and sexual tension is sky high.

I saw a reel for this book and snuck it in. Now I am peeved at my self because I want to read book 2, like now. But I have a review due in 3 days. So I guess I will have to wait a day or 2 before I can see what happens next.
This is my first book by Lovell and I absolutely gobbled it up. It’s mafia and I am assuming age gap through small hints. Because I don’t believe that they have mentioned Gio’s age. But those are two of my favorite troupes. So I knew I had to read it. Plus that short reel was freaking hot.
Lots of steamy slowburn lead up to when they both finally give in to one another. But it doesn’t happen until the end practically. But as I said…LOTS OF STEAMY HAPPENING BEFORE.
I love that Gio is a complete grump that ends up falling for Emilia. And quickly. But even better is Emilia not laying down and taking everything lofted on her from Gio, her father or even her evil uncle. She is fierce and such a fighter. All the more reason for Gio to fall for our feisty chick.
Such a great read with characters I could finally click with after 2 books of not. It makes the reading experience all the more better. Great writing, mouthwatering characters (hello Gio!) and nail biting suspense, this new to me author has me hooked!! 5 Stars!!

I devoured this book, yet I'm somewhat conflicted by it.
What I loved:
- The hero. Gio was deliciously sexy, alpha all the way, a dirty talking Dominant, J/P, did I say sexy?
- The arranged marriage aspect with a reluctant bride.
- The sexual tension was OFF THE CHARTS hot! It's been a while since I read a book where the
author excelled at building sexual tension, teasing readers with what's to come, and holding us on
a precipice waiting for the ultimate deed.
- Praise kink. The "good girl" always gets me! ;)
- Bratty virgin heroine that keeps the hero frustrated and on his toes.
- Great storyline. Well thought out and plotted. No major shockers but continuous action to keep
the story moving.
- I love the author's writing style.
What has me conflicted.
- This was an extreme slow burn.
- This is book 1 in a duet. I had forgotten this when I started reading it. The speed of the book made sense once I realized it would be a two-parter. It also wasn't the type of cliffy that leaves you devastated. It's more like a pause.
- The heroine's stance on her freedom. It became a bit redundant, and honestly, even I wanted to strangle her and tell her to get over it by the end.
- I would have loved more time with them as a couple rather than constantly bickering. I hope we see more of this in the next book.
All in all, I loved this story. I'm not a fan of extreme slow burns, but the author built the chemistry and tension from the start, keeping me intrigued and turning the pages. In the end, I'm glad she took her time with it and didn't rush the story. There was a need to build trust and break down walls and she excelled at this! There wasn't much I didn't like about the book. I just felt conflicted because I wanted more sooner. But hopefully, that will come with book 2. Honestly, I like so many characters in this story, and I hope we see many more books in this world!

• Now we have Emillia our 19 year old heroine who has two options , marry Gio or the widow of her sister , matteo who is an piece of shit but she doesn't want both so she runs away and gets caught by hero.

Emillia and Gio dynamics were hot and filled with alot of chemistry that I was afraid my kindle will burn.
The mafia aspect was fab and despite L.P.Lovell being my first author in this series , meaning this was my first book from her, she did not disappoint me.
Now I love Emillia brother Renzo who helped her escaped and really want to read about him and this book ended on a cliffhanger so waiting for the next book.

This has got to be one of my favorite books from the Underworld Kings Series OMG…. You get all the thangs! Age-gap (the best), Mafia (heck yes), Arranged Marriage to a sexy AF mafia man ( sign me the F up). Gio is complete perfection and is super obsessed with our dear Emilia and this girl right here gives as good as she gets. Emilia is feisty, sexy and a freaking brat who Gio wants to put in her place. The sexual chemistry and tension between these two consumes you and has you panting for more from them. Now this book is part of a duet but does not end in a cliffy IMO its more of the HFN but you know some ish still is about to go down. This is a must read and I am so in love with Gio & Emilia!!!

A Vow of Lust and Fury is part of a duet, which I did not know when I read this excellent book. LP's story in the Underworld Kings is a beautiful continuation of this series. I loved Gio and Emilia in this book and really can't wait for the next book.
Gio and Emilia are forced into a marriage neither one wants but needs to make the best of it. But Emilia doesn't take anything sitting down and fights tooth and nail when it comes to Gio. But eventually, things need to change if these two are going to have some marriage.
Gio and Emilia are great characters, and forced marriages are my favorite themes. But that is only why I started reading this book, not why I loved it.

I enjoyed reading this book even though the plot was nothing brand new or different. While I liked Gio, I loved Emilia even more. I was underestimating her in the beginning but towards the end, she surprised me a lot. Overall the book was captivating, well written and had a good pacing that kept me engaged. Can't wait to read the final conclusion of Gio & Emilia's story!

So disappointing that LP Lovell didn't state that it ended the way it did. Spoiled the story for me honestly.
Note there is NO arranged marriange in this one so it appears to be going to happen in book 2.
Lost a star because there was NO mention of this being a continuation.
