I'm from Australia's Outback where we don't have running water, ride kangaroos to work, and still listen to the wireless each Friday for entertainment. I enjoy wrestling my pet crocodile, Brutus, and playing with my dingo when I'm not out hunting buffaloes and feral pigs while swigging moonshine.
Don't believe me ...
Alright, I enjoy telling stories and read all sub-genres of horror. I'm a big fan of Richard Laymon, may he Rest In Peace, and like nearly everyone else on the f**king planet I love good ol' Uncle Stevie.
If you let me ... I have plenty more stories up my sleeve ... but for now I'll toddle back to wrangle that stray buff out in my paddock.
Well, well, well…I predicted this girl had talent and I must say, this was a great short story. It was heavily influenced by a movie I love, but I can’t tell you the name or it will give too much away.
What I can say is this: Ryder Kinley is an author to watch. This story was gory and disgusting, but she nailed the length – nothing is over- or under-written, it’s just the perfect amount of nastiness.
Bloodmoon by Ryder Kinlay is a fast paced, bloody Honeymoon. There are a few fun twists and turns for the newlyweds. Definitely worth a read and a few sequels.
I was honoured to get an ARC of this book and...Woah!! Ryder can definitely do extreme horror!! With a very sexy opening, a gripping story, blood, pain and horror, and a great twist ending, I absolutely loved this book. It even had a good old cringe out loud moment!! Perfect!! I also loved the addition of the classical music in the background, it really added to the horrific atmosphere for me! 5 bloody great swords from me 🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
I thoroughly enjoyed this short read. The scenes were described in a way that I was able to envision every setting that I visited. I love saw, and hostel, and this reminded me of both. The only thing I wasn’t overly sure of was the motivation—he put in a shit tonne of work to get that kill! Still, a great story from Ryder and worthy of five stars.
Well that was awesome. Ryder Kinlay this is what I'm talking about... I knew you was hiding more. What a bad ass short read. I'm actually glad I waited so long to read this because now I can read them all back to back. Good solid quick violent read. On to the next one of this series.
Ryder Kinlay’s Bloodymoon is a short, nasty work that works like a lit match igniting another match until they both burn out to leave us staring soddenly at the embers. Narrated initially by the naive newlywed wife of prickish pretty boy David Longbottom as they dance the nights away through the slimy, grimy grossness of a Thai honeymoon, this one even comes with a detailed take on pudenda ping pong. After the champagne glasses quit clinking, the tale takes a non-telegraphed turn, in which we find ourselves leaving the setting of “The Hangover 2” to be trapped in something resembling a dark net red room. To further pontificate on the twist would ruin the prolonged and painful climax, as David is clearly someone you’d be far better off ghosting than agreeing to even meet for a quick coffee. Ms. Kinlay has crafted a deplorable piece of work in Longbottom, whose trust fund baby arrogance perspires through the pages. It will be interesting to see how this overly obnoxious asshole makes his way through Kinlay’s world, as he’s clearly someone demanding a backstory and a string of sequels.
For a short, this hits the spot. It starts with just a sexual tease before you get an extreme kick to the nuts. A young couple on their honeymoon go to the wrong type of bar and things go from bad to worse... I'd recommend this for all extreme horror lovers.
Let’s start with Ryder Kinley’s Bloodymoon. Um, yes, gotdamn it, let’s start with Mr. Longbottom. This story shocked me because I didn’t see the twist and 75% of the time, I can see something of it coming. Nope. Nope. Nope. This book takes you on a roller coaster of insanity. From awwww, to well that’s weird, to meh rich people, to what the fuck just happened all in less than 40 pages. This is now one of my most anticipated series and I’m freaking living for it. Pick this one up on Godless for cheap AF.
I'd already read Ryder Kinlay's Rehab novel both during the writing of it then beta-reading it, and then the final version, and knew then there was a raw talent developing in that twisted brain of hers. Rehab isn't an extreme book but I knew she had a soft touch for the subgenre, which I generally don't, but when given the chance to read her new Longbottom series(and after being threatened and blackmailed if I didn't), I jumped in! And was not surprised to see her talents exploding in this short novella. The twist in this little tale completely caught me unawares, plenty of nasty, gory stuff for extreme fans, and most definitely has me ready to read the rest in the series. A short, sharp shock as someone once said!
The rich really are different. Never honeymoon in Thailand. Those are the biggest takeaways from Kinlay's Bloodymoon. We meet the celebrating couple just as a plum is to be propelled from the vagina of a woman on stage into the new bride's mouth. How can you go wrong with a story that starts like that? From there, Kylie--increasingly intoxicated--allows her husband, David, to drag her along in his wake as he seeks even greater and more taboo forms of enjoyment. Unfortunately for Kylie, she might have married into the wrong family. Bloodymoon is a story that starts out feeling like The Hangover only to transition into Hostel, and it's quite an adventure getting from origin to destination.
WARNING: Erotic, horror and gore...oh my! A dream honeymoon in Thailand for Kylie and her handsome and wealthy husband David Longbottom or is it? This little gem from Ryder Kinlay may not be to everyone's taste. If you're a little squeamish - read this through your fingers covering your eyes and curse your vivid imagination because Ryder knows how to paint a brutal picture that draws you in to the bloody end.
This was my second "Longbottom" story by Kinlay. I loved this roller coaster ride because I got to meet the wifey. I made a mistake and read the sequel to this first, no big deal, Kinlay does a great job at filling in with detail, albeit, gory flashback detail, haha. Bloodymoon was great in the aspect that it had two points of view, the wife's and then Longbottoms'. It was a refreshing take on a great series. Thanks Ryder for the great read, keep on entertaining!
Ryder does a great job of drawing you into the story and getting you interested in it before plummeting you into twisted depravity!!! Good job Ryder!!!
I was really looking forward to this after reading Rehab. Great story about a trip to Thailand. Really gory and sexually depraved. Can't wait to read everything Ryder puts out. Rehab was such an incredible debut.
Wow..! Short and bloody..! No fat on this story - straight to the point and into the action. Loved the change of perspective halfway through. Would have loved this to be longer - But that is how it is when you are enjoying yourself and wanting more.
Fantastic short from a fantastic author. The story went in a completely different direction than what I had anticipated and I enjoyed not being able to see what was coming. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I can say there’s lots of blood and it’s VERY different than her debut novel, Rehab. Ryder blows me away again. What happens in Thailand, stays in Thailand.
